Unfortunately dz.com has lst relevance so those DZ owners no longer see any value in keeping the listings up to date.

 

 

This is correct. The way the system was setup is that listings are created and owned by Dropzones themselves, and they are requested to keep their listings up to date and relevant to interested visitors. Only the owners of the listings and admins can make changes to them.

Anyone looking to make changes to existing listings can send through the changes to me via PM and I will gladly amend the listings (I occasionally receive this info).

Regarding the map. There is currently a map. Clicking on each pin will show the DZ name. Are there specific changes you guys are looking for regarding the map?

We had a few days of downtime relating to some server maintenance. We had to do a rollback (no data was lost as the rollback was just prior to our work). But I wanted to ask that if anyone encounters any bugs to please report them here, so I can deal with them.

It's been a while since our last scheduled downtime, but we're looking to upgrade our forum software to the latest version and will need to take the site offline for a day or two to complete this process.

The site will be offline from tomorrow June 22nd around midnight. If all goes well, we hope to have the site back up within a few hours.

This is an unfortunate result of excessive spam attempt sign ups. To protect our moderators from having too hectic of a time we became more careful about which accounts to accept and in the process a bit of a backlog has turned up.

I'm working on some changes now that should ease up restrictions a bit, while also trying not to approve spam accounts.

Apologies, the Administrator account is somewhat redundant as I typically use this account for most of the administrative work. That said, I hopped onto the other account to see your message there. I'll drop you a DM on this account to discuss though.

On the topic of the site going down and never coming back though, that's certainly not the case. The issue is resolved after the mySQL server gets restarted, unfortunately we rely on our host to do that so there may be some delay. But we would like to get this resolved, of course.

Not that I'm aware of unfortunately, our site software recently had a pretty big update which we are combing through and initializing the process of upgrading to, I'll review the search functionality changes after the update and readdress this, in case it's resolved with the update.

Just following up - the ad image issue has been resolved.

Thanks for letting me know! Looks like there was an additional css class used that I hadn't set the scale for yet. It should be sorted now though, if there's any more problems with the sizes just let me know.

The forum software came with 21 emoticons as the standard. I have however, gone and redone all the emoticons. The old ones weren't great, and there was definitely a bit of a limit compared to other platforms. There should be close to 100 now - we may add a few additional ones too. 

I've adjusted the text slightly to increase the contrast between the white background and the font. Readability should be improved.

The problems with the layout on some posts are usually a result of users not completing their post shortcode correctly. For instance opening a bold tag but not closing it. Since the tag is then open, it affects the rest of the content on the page. There's no real easy quick fix for it, but if you do come across other examples and want to forward them for fixing, that'd be great.

Please send examples of pages where this occurs if possible so we can investigate a bit and find out what's going on.

While a lot of Black Friday sales aren't worth the hassle, there's definitely a few good finds one can come across. If you find something you think others should know of (bonus points if it's skydiving related) - this thread is a place to share those finds and help others come across some good deals, to avoid having to wade through all the 2% discounts.

AGAIN, a reminder that posts which are not related directly to the case will be removed. This isn't a place to go back and forth about personal details about personal beef or disagreements. That kind of post offers nothing to readers of the thread. Keep the posts relevant.

This behaviour should be occurring by default when you click on the orange "Unread" button. 

The main title will still link to the original post, but the Unread button should take you to the first unread.

We haven't really promoted the fact that we now have this functionality, but since the new site went live users are now able to ignore users across the platform. That is, you can decide whether you want to hide all their posts by default or whether you'd like to block their private messages (or both).

Many of you guys have shown exactly why this thread was initially locked. This forum is a place for the discussion of the DB Cooper case, not the discussion of members who own Cooper websites. Back and forths between users on personal matters not directly relating to the case offers no insight for anyone.

I also want to use this time to remind you guys that there is an ignore feature which should be used. It can hide both posts and private messages from users whom you wish not to be bothered by.

This thread will be reopened in 24 hours, with a much less liberal approach. Since you guys (as a whole) are unable to govern yourselves, you're forcing us to play adult and do it for you. 

Thanks for the feedback. We've been removing this user's accounts as they come in, but your suggestion isn't bad at all and we may just go ahead and do that for the interim.

There has definitely been a slow down in the community forums over the years, which we assume is due to Facebook. Almost all forum websites have slowed down as Facebook became the place where people spend a lot of their time.

With that said, our 'on topic' forums have remained fairly consistent in comparison.

As always, we're open to any suggestions or feedback that you guys have on how we can make the site more valuable.

With the new layout it is much harder to search for employment.

Before, you could click classifieds,employment and search and it would show all employment adds from every country.

Now when you hit search it requires you to use a key word. So i have to keep typing "instructor" or "wanted" and im only getting a few at a time.

How do we get back to the entire list of all employment adds from all countries?

No! Gary had contributed various articles to the site over the years, he was always looking to help bring knowledge to others and share his wisdom.

Through all our correspondence he always seemed enthusiastic and friendly.

We will definitely miss him on the site. I'd appreciate it if anyone close to Gary could drop me a PM so we can put together something on the site in his honor.

Thanks for the feedback! We're also not completely happy with the search functionality that comes with the software, though some may be related to our migration.

Could you please provide the phrase to the thread you're referring to, and perhaps a link to the post. I just want to do some testing on that thread and see if it's a case of the search not working, or our migration having a problem.
