  1. Thank you for the headsup. This looks like it's a case of our development website sending out emails that it shouldn't. We have this live site, and then we have a development site for us to work on, which has all the same data on it, to allow us to make changes without affecting the users. This development server isn't supposed to be sending out emails at all, but it looks like it may be trying to tell you that an ad is about to expire on that environment. I'm working to resolve this ASAP as this is problematic... But I believe that the live site should offer you a free renewal as well, will double check... But you can ignore any emails in the interim that link to Webfactional, as they've not been sent from the live site and doesn't impact your real ads. But we'll get this sorted ASAP.
  2. Why would you do that I've got enough work to cover haha But thanks for showing me something that definitely needs adjusting. Though we may just retain the previous site requirements for signature... ie: Make them obnoxious and have them removed
  3. The new system offers a lot of additional functionality around the classifieds, but it doesn't offer the ability to select between two renewal periods. What we could do, is set the default renewal period to 60 days, that way if one wishes to remove it prior to that period they can do so manually with ease, but will still extend the duration of the ad through the renewal?
  4. Unfortunately, we weren't able to attend the recent 2019 PIA Symposium which took place in Dallas, TX from the 4th until the 8th of February. However, our friends over at Skydive TV did an amazing job at the event, creating a number of videos from the various stalls. We've put together some of these videos in a quick collection, allowing you to recap what was going down at the PIA Symposium if you were like us and unable to be there, or whether you're just interested in hearing what some of the vendors and stall managers had to say. PIA Symposium 2019 | EPISODE 1 from Skydive TV® on Vimeo. Sigma & Burble The video kicks off with an advert for the direction that Sigma has gone with their new partnership with Burble. An interview with Dylan Avatar from Sigma then commences to discuss the way in which the two companies have eased the pains of manifests when working with the software. The software focuses on syncing data between the jumper's Sigma profile with that of the manifest. By doing this, the dropzone is able to receive the necessary certifications from the jumper without the exercise of excessive forms or card management. The software is set for release in the Spring, with additional development work still in progress. Franz Gerschwiler from Burble then discusses how the system works, the desire for a March release date and gives a short demo of how data that is contained on the app, as well as the success that Burble has seen in recent years being adopted by more than 100 dropzones. NZ Aerosports Next, Skydive TV talks with Attila Csizmadia from New Zealand Aerosports who initially discusses the loss of company founder Paul ‘Jyro’ Martyn, who passed away in 2017, and how his visions shaped the company. With a memorial to Jyro, placed at the stall in his honor. Attila confirms that there won't be any new NZ products unveiled at PIA, however the company has recently launched the JFX II, which is discussed in its advances to the original JFX. The discussion then shifts to a new wingsuit canopy that the company have in the works and is currently undergoing testing, though no specific release date is mentioned. The interview moves to Julien Peelman, who discusses the future of the company and what's on the horizon for NZ Aerosports. He mentions the "Anna" which is a high performance canopy that fits between the JFX II and the Leia. Peelman then goes on to discuss the move from 2D to 3D software for the company and the advances in the development software being used. Sun Path Products At the Sun Path booth, Rob Kendall talks passionately about the company's new Javelin Odyssey design, which draws heavily from feedback received by customers of the old Odyssey. He talks about several new features on the container, from the adjustments to the side panel to enhanced safety aspects, though states that the design is still a prototype and will be further tested before launch. Doug Baron then takes over to discuss the adjustments made to the back piece of the container, a feature which will offer enhance ergonomics to the user, as well as briefly discussing the new single lateral padding. Revl Revl provide a product of interest mostly to dropzones, as they offer an intelligent hardware and software solution to video capture, editing and publishing. Eric Sanchez talks to Skydive TV about how their product will capture each jump in high quality video, then use AI technology to process the video and edit it in such a way that it removes the need for video editors. Their product will then automatically upload the edited video to the cloud in, and in a matter of minutes one is able have the video automatically edited and uploaded to the cloud for each client. They use a QR code system to tie each video to the client. Not only does this product edit automatically, but it also goes through the process of charging the battery and erasing the previous data after cloud syncing, by itself. It also has the ability to merge multiple videos together during the editing process, so outside and inside videos will be merged into a single final edit. Definitely an interesting product, and we'll be watching to see whether this does get picked up at dropzones. Elite Rigging Academy Derek Thomas, with more than 50 years of rigging experience, discusses a bit of his back story and how Elite Rigging Academy came about. He explains his desire to create a rigging course that isn't just a week long experience, but rather a comprehensive 3-week course
  5. I wish it were that easy. Unfortunately we also need to take false positives into account. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation. There are probably a number of legitimate threads reference passport for instance, related to traveling. With that said, it may be easier to deal with the false flags than the spam. We've got some anti-spam methods in the works at the moment, just trying to get it set up correctly. But we will continue to fight the spam. We're already running captchas, spam prevention software that blocks signups of noticeable spam. And the fuckers keep changing the content they spam with, so its hard to trigger off specific phrases used.
  6. Thanks for letting us know, will check this out and look to fix ASAP.
  7. As stated before, while we appreciate feedback. We need more specific feedback than "I don't like it". What don't you like about it? Why do you feel that it is so different from the old site? The truth is, as mentioned in another post... We received this same kind of feedback when we launched the old design. Yet it seems most that opposed it on launch grew to like it. So we understand that it takes time for users to become accustomed to changes. And the functionality is by and large the same. There are very few things that are missing on the new format that existed on the old. We realize the "new posts" is a big one and we're going to get that back up. But otherwise, I haven't been made aware of many things that make it less functional than the previous layout. If you can articulate what has changed about your experiences, we can look more into it.
  8. @dmcoco84 I've enabled a function called "Anonymous Logins" now, this will give you an option when you login to do so anonymously, which will accomplish the hiding of the "Last Visited". As for the flags, I think I've got a solution, which should be implemented soon.
  9. The flags I still want to do, it's just finding those damn files at this point since they weren't brought over in the migration. I'll try find some time soon to get on that, my to-do list is making me feel like a development Santa at this point though.
  10. The direct link to the post on our new forums is the timestamp at the top of the post. So the permalink to a specific post is still there, it's just merged with the timestamp, to streamline the process and display.
  11. The ability to change font is there, but limited to things like italics, bolds, strikethroughs etc. We can't allow additional functions as they are too easily abused. We want to avoid any obnoxious colouring of posts etc. But in order you adjust the fonts with the same abilities as the old site, you should see the icons to do so at the top of your message box, along with the quote, attachment, emoticons buttons. We can look into post numbering, but it wouldn't be a priority at this point, just given that it's not that common of a piece of functionality on forums. With regards to the emoticons, they will likely stay where they are The emoticon list is rarely accessed in reality, and one usually just memorizes the shortcode for the icons. For example, if I typically use the emoticon, I know to access it in future I just need to add : and $ together, so the shortcuts are super easy to memorize. Thanks for the feedback There's a lot of requests at this point and we're going through and seeing how to prioritize.
  12. These are two important things that I'll look into. I know that the Poll should be an easy fix as I'm sure it's supposed to be available. And we do want to offer a better search function if we can. Poll is fixed now. One is able to filter search results chronologically using the button on the right, here's a snapshot Could you be specific about any key functions that are missing due to the hover issue on mobile. There shouldn't be any functionality that is lost. Thanks, I'll investigate this. I've fixed this, and you can now access the ignore users section I believe the reply notification will notify you of further posts in the thread, ie: replies to the topic. That is something we can look at, though falls fairly low on the list of priorities at this point, while we focus on bigger core content and functionality fixes.
  13. We've seen that some of you have been struggling to find certain elements which used to be in different locations on the old site. And perhaps not immediately finding where we've moved things. In this thread, I will post short guides to help you get used to the new site and help you locate what it is you're looking for, as well as introducing you to new ways to find the data you're looking for. The Activity Stream The activity stream/feed is an exciting new addition to the site that makes it easier than ever before to stay up to date with what is happening on the site. It can provide you with a direct feed of information from all around the site. From being able to see where users have recently posted, new content they have submitted, as well as being able to create your own streams of information based off sections of the site you visit most. Let's say you frequent the Bonfire forum and you're currently looking to buy a used AAD off the classifieds. You now want an easy way of seeing new posts in the Bonfire section as well as being able to quickly catch up on the new AAD ads listed. You can do this all with the activity stream, by creating your own custom streams. You are even able to select for it to only show you items that you haven't seen since your last visit, keeping the data fresh and customized to your desire. It's easy to create an activity stream too, simply go to the "More" button on the top nav menu and click on "Activity". This will give you a few activity options, from a general stream of activity around the site, to an extremely customized stream that only shows what you're looking for. In order to create your own custom activity stream, you can click on "Activity -> My Activity Streams -> Create New Stream" Once you have clicked on "Create New Stream", you will see several selections which will allow you to customize that stream you are creating. The idea here is to create streams based on your most regular actions, you can create multiple streams depending on how you want your content to be shown to you. You could create one solely to catch up on forums that you frequent, but you could create another to stay up to date on articles and news posts etc. You can then access your saved streams by simply using the same activity stream link in the navbar and finding it located under the "My Activity Streams" link.
  14. Thanks for your feedback. The idea here would be to zoom in to your location and then look at the dropzones in the area pinned on the map. You can then easily just right click on their name and open the listing in a new tab. This allows you to view several listings and then just close the windows as required. Doing it this way provides the same ease of use as the old site had. You shouldn't have to go back or be put back to the start. You just need to open the links in new tabs instead of going directly to it each time. As you won't leave the map page by doing so.
  15. The Favicon is added, and I have it on my browser at the moment. But I figure it may be a caching issue, sometimes can take a while for favicons to propagate properly, and it was added a few days ago. Will also just double check possible settings.
  16. This is an issue caused by the old website's server sending out false alerts on the ads that were listed there. We're working on resolving this, but you can ignore any emails with the old structure like that. The new site will send out a different renewal alert email... If ever you want to check your renewals, it can be done by clicking on the dropdown on the top right navbar next to your display picture and then clicking on "My Renewals", but as said, we're working on fixing these 'old' alerts being accidentally sent out. This is our intent... It isn't quite as easy to do as some of the other additions/fixes, but it is something we're speaking to developers about creating to add it to the functionality. I can understand why users miss this function.
  17. That's because small cramped text is terrible for those with deteriorating eye-sight as well as creating a tendency to squint or move close to the monitor. Larger fonts with more space is easier on the eyes in terms of strain as well as not feeling cramped. I don't understand your comments regarding the AAD though? Nothing has changed in the classifieds other than the listings requiring you to scroll down to see the listings. We even made sure to keep the same amount of classified listings per page as we had. The one area I'll concede is an issue on the classifieds is the lack of an easier accessible search, which is something we have already designed and will be implementing soon.
  18. When moving between content management systems, it will always be a big change. It's not something that can be eased into. And we're aware that this is a big change for users who are used to a certain look. This is why we teased what was coming months in advance, showed screenshots of the forums etc. With that said, just because it's different doesn't make it bad. I've been catering to user requests as much as I can, where they make sense. But being able to see 20 listings on a page doesn't mean it's more user friendly than seeing 5. All you need to do is scroll to see more, it shouldn't be seen as any kind of hinder on usability. The way websites are developed (any of the good ones), is by following design trends and keeping up to date with the advances of websites. Facebook, Twitter; they're two of the most successful sites and both revolve around a heavy scroll-based interface. Because of this, it is logical that other sites follow aspects of these, as vast majority of people are now used to that kind of approach. Some may not be, but we can't keep catering to people who are used to older, 90s style layouts. My best suggestion is to give it time. It may feel like you've lost a friend, but what you're feeling is mostly the natural reaction to changes. In the mid-2000s we underwent a huge redesign of Dropzone.com and the reactions were the same. The site that you and many people grew to love, was initially pushed against by the community, for the same reasons. With time, they forgot about the old design and came to enjoy the new one. But when it first came out, the same complaints were seen. So give it a few months, and see how you feel after that... I can assure you that you will feel a lot less like you're in a unusual environment than you do now.
  19. Sorry guys, this was my bad. In an attempt to make changes that the community were asking for (default linking of a title taking you to the first unread post), I seem to have screwed it up in the process. It should now be working as intended with the adjustment to the default link too. Please do let me know if anything is out of whack.
  20. We're busy looking at what we can do about this. Unfortunately it isn't a feature with this forum software and will need to be developed custom
  21. Thanks for alerting us to this issue. It's been resolved and the featured slider is now working correctly.
  22. Please PM me about this, as the notifications should get turned off when you choose for them to be. You can PM me a screenshot of your notifications settings just to confirm they're all disabled etc, so I can look into it. What do you mean by needing to clear notifications though? When you click on the notification bell, it will automatically clear the notifications (it will remove the red digit indication how many notifications).
  23. I'm not sure I understand. Is there a reason why seeing the exact number is that imperative to knowing whether you're going to click through or not? Surely if there are new posts in the section, whether they are 2 or 20, you'd still need to click through to see what they are? I could understand if there was no indication at all on the main page, but there is still an indication, just not an exact number -- you can still see that new posts have been made to that category. So you shouldn't need to manually go into each category that I can think of. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. Also, are you talking about mobile or desktop use?
  24. This is a fair comment, though a bit trickier in practice than in theory. There's quite a few users who have probably just got used to understanding how the forum icons work and what they do. And if we were to remove those buttons now, there may be some who feel like they were just starting to get accustomed to them. I do like the idea of a "NEW" icon instead of the little blue button, and that could be done, but I'd first need to get more weight from others users to, in order to ensure that there is more desire for it than there is opposition. Same with the idea for making the title go directly to the first unread post. This makes a lot of sense to me personally, but I just want to ensure everyone isn't going to suddenly feel like the site is now changing again right after getting used to how it works. If anyone else wants to provide their thoughts, the more input the better chance we have to know what you guys want. (Not to discredit your individual voice, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying). Here's an example of what I'm thinking, replacing the bottom blue dot with the orange new alert. Whether that NEW alert links to the first unread post or whether we make the title link to it, is also up for discussion.
  25. There currently isn't a specific number indicator showing how many new posts there are since the last visit. However, there is an indication that new posts have been made. The icons on the left will be orange when a new post is made inside of a category. When looking at the category level, there will be a blue dot next to topics with new posts. We are looking at the work involved in re-creating the new posts numbers similar to the old site, as it does seem to hold use. Is this what you're referring to? Alternatively, there is also an area at the bottom of the forum landing page that shows the latest posts.
