    What do you do?

Born and raised in a very small town in SW Saskatchewan (home of the 2007 Grey Cup Champions) and have spent most of my life in the oilpatch, there and in Alberta. Have been a single dad forever it seems, my youngest will graduate in a couple years then it's just me (and my daughters cat! which I know she'll leave here). So, looking forward to getting back into jumping when I have some time on my hands. ... and wanting to know how to get a ride in an F-15 .. hint!!!
  5. Good to know, where is this at? or is this pretty much standard. I want to spend some time in a tunnel just not sure where?? .. so are they pretty busy in the winter?
  6. ... what's this? I've missed something!!
  7. That's hilarious ... well done ladies!!!
  8. All loss is difficult but the loss of a close friend is just different somehow .. I still leave a beer at my buddies gravesite when I pass through the old hometown. .. my Prayers for you and your friend
  9. This is something I find myself working on, I didn't want weight so I worked on my arch, spent time streching out my legs to get them up further and things seem to be coming round .. I found myself being low man on a couple jumps. But what about this Mantis position opposed to the box, .. can it help in increasing your fall rate and help make things easier on the back?

    Just caught a line I like ...
  11. Hey there TB, we have some things in common, I'm 52 and returning after a 12 year lay off. I was able to pick up a Triathlon 190 this year and have always had good openings until my second last jump of the season. Don't know why this jump opened hard or perhaps it just felt worse as I pulled while I was just at the end of my track and mabye was a little headdown?? But it had my eyes as big as saucers and I still feel the bruising in the centre of my back. The following jump and the last one of the season went off without a hitch, thank God!
  12. I showed up on the DZ with a headcold this year and one of the more experienced guys I jump with a lot picked up on it and asked if I was feeling plugged up. He suggested to me I mabye sit the day out and wait until I was feeling better, I could breathe ok and didn't feel that bad but I trust these guys and was ok with that. The winds were up a bit anyway. ... 40 minutes later we were all off on a cross country jump, it was bloody brilliant!! 12K with altitude to burn, great fun!
  13. Air time!!, .. I'll have to keep that in mind and play around with it. Thanks Cocheese.
  14. ??? .. Well this really caught my attention!! I was told paraglide canopies could, but not ours. Is there anything you do? watch for? etc. thanks,
  15. I'll leave the fast canopys to the young, .. at my age my 190 will do for the young at heart, I get more air time anyway ;)
  16. .. offering our thoughts and Prayers for friends and family.
  17. Have you made a jump yet? We had a commercial pilot and his girlfriend come out for a tandem a week or so ago, they're both hooked .. a few who jump at our place are pilots. I always make an attenpt to get to know the jump pilots and make sure to thank them when ever I can. I thank the people I jump with and without the pilot we're stuck on the ground so they are key part of the group. We had two terrific pilots this year, both smooth flyers and both jump. One I jumped with a few times, he just got his B before the end of the season and the other had to go through his first jump course to get hired so he has 1 jump. It's pretty handy having a skydiver as your jump pilot, between the load and the pilot we never had a bad spot .. and, now and again they would slip us an extra 500 ft of altitude.
  18. Thanks everbody, it should be much better on the pocketbook now, I was able to get a good used set of gear from Pacific Skydivers and what a difference it makes in jump prices. .. thanks again for the welcome :)
  19. I started jumping at Beiseker in 93/94, completely not intentional, I only stopped in for a coffee and to watch some friends jump. They never ever did show up and I found myself making my first jump later that evening. I jumped for a couple seasons but due to money issues and being a single dad I shelved diving until this year again now that the kids are grown and pretty much on their own now. My oldest girl has one tandem, my son has 4 tandems and his first jump course and my youngest is anxiously waiting for next season and her first jump ... nothing would please me more than to someday launch a four way with my kids. We'll see!
