The only time I've seen this happen is when they don't pull the cat-eye below the ring.

It's an easy enough mistake for a newer jumper (or one who doesn't pack for themselves much) to make.

Have seen that a lot of times with student and (lowtime) jumpers...

I am waiting for the engineering drawings to be completed and submitted along with the Instructions for continued airworthiness and POH supplement. The lawyers say the drawings are to be submitted end of april and the rest middle of may. The Feds say 3 months after submission the final flight test will be after that. I had to get lawyers involved now so we will see what will happen. [:/]

What about middle of may. Tell us good news ;-)

  3. Maybe this will help with your decision ;-)

... By 1999 we set up ICARUS Canopies as an independent company in a joint venture with CIMSA Ingenieria de Sistemas of Barcelona, Spain and Precision Aerodynamics of Chattanooga, GA - USA and launched an aggressive marketing effort in the USA. Sometime later we haved managed to establish the brand as a main player both in USA and in Europe. After some time, Precision left the group and came out with their own versions of these designs. Since then, ICARUS Canopies has benefited from the technology and capabilities of both NZ Aerosports and CIMSA to develop what is surely the most advanced range of sport canopies in the market today...

  4. Hey Markus,

why not step on a 119 crossfire II? I'm sure it's a big difference in handling and performance.
And then you're at about the best load for performance on the crossfire II.
From there on you have a lot more benefit with the crossbrace canopies.

just my $0.02 - and the way I'm doing it ;-)

  5. Hey doc,

    For me it's not the 270 / 450 / 630 / ... thing exept you're just swooping and going up over 2.x/1 of a wingload.

The calm way of crosswind / downwind / save-braked-low-turn / landing out everywhere / ... are the key factor for me.

There are a lot of wannabe "swoopers" doing 450 out there who shit their pants when they have to land out...

... Bill Booth, the pilot, says he's lucky to have walked away.

"It was pretty violent, but only a second and half and it was over," he said.

The only signs that show Booth was involved in the plane crash are the bandages wrapped around his hand and finger. He was flying this single engine lake amphibian when he had to make an emergency landing in this field.

"Five minutes after leaving airport I noticed strange indications on engine," he said. ...
