Danny I'll be around there on days when I have off from work. Maybe I'll brush the dust off of my wingsuit for a few flocks
  2. I jumped a Quasar once while my rig was up for a repack. After that one jump, I figured it would be more worth my time to go home and watch TV....But hey, look on the bright side, at least your not jumping a Racer
  3. If you freeze the video at about the 29 second mark, you will notice that this is a downwind swoop based off of the flags. Anything will go "fast" and "far" on a downwind swoop without much effort. Edit to add: But I'm sure you already knew that, Sangi
  4. When I got this in the mail, I called up the USPA and asked them if there was an opt out option for this kind of mail. The guy I talked to said no, but they were asked the same question by many other members and are looking into the possibility of creating an opt out list. I personally hate getting this type of mail and can't stand the fact that organizations that I send my money to send my this type of crap in the mail. I have plenty of insurance and don't need any more.
  5. Nope, I like to consider every "Fun Jump" an Unpaid Work Jump.
  6. Come on Stoney, we all know that the picture of the supposed record has to be kept a secret for as long as possible, as per the precedent set last year. It will not be released until an absolute shit storm about it's validity has been played up as much as possible by the organizers. I do think I saw the pic with the grid posted on facebook though, and it looked pretty sweet.
  7. Heres a little more info on it: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3725683;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread I also have a lot of friends there, and would greatly appreciate it if someone could shoot me a PM with his name.
  8. Damn, that is pretty scary. Goes to show that the myth of AAD's not being useful in wingsuits is just that... a myth. Glad that the jumper is OK for the most part.
  9. Yeah, it was spot on until a camera man deployed in front of the front line at our break off altitude. I barely missed him by 5 feet to his left, on level with his body..... kinda scary. And part of the reason why I am not very interested in doing anymore bigways.
  10. I haven't heard anything about this, but after last year and some of the shenanigans that went on during break off, I wouldn't doubt that an accident could have occurred. I hope everyone is OK.
  11. I think no one wants to drive you because they don't want to be considered an enabler in your quest to hurt yourself. Sorry dude, truth hurts. PS: I have a Neos 99 that I am trying to sell if your interested
  12. Gary and James, I sent you both a PM about this guy.
  13. I have about 200 jumps on a neos 99 loaded at about 2.0. The openings are nice and soft and on heading. Once I got an RDS for it, the openings were still soft but a little squirley. The performance is great. It dives pretty hard and has a decently long recovery arc. The rears have a lot of power compared to a katana or crossfire. I would say that it is in the same class as a katana as far as being a canopy to transfer you to a crossbrace. I personally believe that it is a much better swooping canopy than a katana because it has more performance and flies closer to a real crossbrace than a katana.
  14. Yeah, it works well for many twists. I once had 5 or 6 twists and it worked fine on them.
  15. I have used this technique many times when the canopy was diving and it still worked very well. I'm sure if it was spinning hard enough though, nothing would help. You are right about the possibility of releasing a brake by accident. Even with that possiblity, I still believe that this technique is way better than spreadng the risers apart. Spreading your risers apart after the lines have twisted seems to work against you and make it more difficult to kick out of the twists. Edit to add: Just for reference as well, the canopy I was using in the video a few posts above was an Icarus Neos 99 loaded at about 2.0
  16. Putnam... Its named after a facebook thing... don't ask.
  17. I'm not very familiar with the Electra. It sounds like it would be similiar to a Sabre2 or a Silhouette. If thats the case, then it would probably be fine. Also, your wingloading is pretty conservative, so that should help keep the canopy docile.
  18. Everyone is gonna tell you to never jump an elliptical canopy with wingsuit. That is very good advice. But, if you are an experienced wingsuiter with solid and stable body position on opening, you could get away with ellipticals (that is based off of my past experience). The risks involved are a lot greater and you will eventually get spun up. Now, I have done many wingsuit jumps with crossfires and I believe that if you want to wingsuit with any elliptical, this would probably be the best one to do it with. It is very stable on opening. I ony got spun up a few times with it, and each time I was able to get out of the twists. If you want to wingusit with and elliptical, make sure you understand that there is no special way to reduce the chances of a cutaway, and a cutaway is bound to happen. The best thing you could do is have plenty of wingsuit deployments under your belt, and make sure that you have a very good body position on deployment. I slightly modify my deployments when using an elliptical. I'm a big pussy and wont deploy an elliptical in full flight. I typically shut the whole suit down and allow myself to freefall again for a few seconds before I pitch. I feel that this gives a safer opening for the elliptical due to the decreased foward speed and increased vertical speed. it also gives me a little more time to see if my body position is a little off (like in a slight turn, for example). The general concensus is that its bad to wingsuit with ellipticals. I agree with that, but its all up to you and how much risk you are willing to take. Don't be upset if you have to chop a little more often.
  19. Here the link to the video I mentioned in my previous post. There are two points in the video where I have line twist on opening and use the technique that I mentioned (one at 1:47, and the other at 3:03). I didn't have to kick at all during either of those two openings to get out of the twists. Squeezing the risers together and twisting them did it all for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg4Niwm3AYI Edit: Forgot to make it a clicky
  20. There is also another method that I have found to be almost 100% effective to getting out of line twist. Jonathan Tagle tought me it. Its kind of a 2 step method. (#1) When you get into line twist, instead of grabbing your risers and spreading them, push them together. This brings the twist down towards the risers which makes it easier to get out of them. (#2) While squeezing the risers together, twist them in the same direction as the linetwist. This sounds counterproductive, but it will spin you out of the twist. I'm not really sure why it happens that way, but my guess would be that it involves Newton's 3rd Law of Motion (for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction). By trying to twist the risers into the line twist (the action), your body will spin in the opposite direction (the equal and opposite reaction). This method works like a charm and has saved my ass many times from what would have been an immediate chop if I used any other way to remedy linetwist. I have a video of me using this technique that I will upload to youtube later if anyone wants to see it in action.
  21. Yeah, that second "death defying" collision was the same jump. It was me, some guy wearing a similiar suit as me to my left, and some red dude. I would like to thank Scott Bland for telling me to pull my chute when he felt that the stunt was getting too dangerous. Had he not, I don't know what would have happened . P.S.: I never knew that wingsuiting was more dangerous than skydiving...
  22. I don't need to see you to know how you are. I believe everyone on DZ.com knows how you are by the constant flow of moronic and illogical comments that come from you on these forums. You have no fucking experience, yet you seem to feel the need to let everyone here know how it is when it comes to skydiving. Perfect example would be this thread, and how, according to you, it is apparently impossible to have a hard landing under a student canopy. Like what they said earlier: Post less, jump more. If you did, maybe you would learn a little and not post some retarded ass comments. I'm done with this thread now. We are getting to off topic.
  23. Yes, it does. By the way, nice pro-tec. You'll probably need it someday, since you obviously don't understand one thing about canopy flight, and more importantly, how people get hurt under canopy. Edit to Add: You know what Sangi, I will actually enlighten you. Not to actually help you to prevent you from hurting yourself, but to show you how stupid you sound everytime you post something without thinking first. There are many ways to have hard landings under a student canopy. The most popular ways to do it are to put yourself in with a low toggle turn, flare too high, flare too low/no flare, and severe turbulence. If you don't believe me, go out and grab a student rig and try to do all three. If you are still around after that, let me know and I will give you a prize. It doesn't matter how big or small your canopy is. If you don't set up or flare properly, you can severly hurt yourself. But, you probably already knew that, you dumbass 100 jump wonder.
