Now this is a wonderful idea, this could be the starting point of the whole protest. If no BASE jumpers showed up and everyone there lost tons of money they sure would listen then. Thats one thing that always gets peoples attention is money especialy a loss of it. Jason could take all the money that has been collected so far to hire an attorney to fight the NPS and donate the rest to charity in the name of all BASE jumpers. This would defenitly start some kind of talks with the town and NPS.If we get started on this as soon as possible, maybe the town would put pressure on the NPS. There were 4 people total on the load, Leroy is the only one that left and he left with the car. One of the guys called me and told me what had happened and that Leroy hauled ass with his car and I advised them to call the fire department. My wife and I along with another couple drove out to the tower to pick up the ones that were left behind and to assist in any way possible. out of the 3 guys that were left behind 2 of them were charged and the other mingled into the crowd that had gathered and caught a ride home with us. Evidently you heard poor leroys side of the story.You know the one that makes him look like the concerned hero! This whole thread is about leaving people behind and Im just telling you the facts that were brought up by another person that had posted above mine. And NO! the guy that was stuck in the wires does not post on here because he isnt a BASE jumper. That was his first and last BASE jump. The other 2 that were left behind post on here and should be posting shortly. Also that night I called Leroy myself to ask him were the hell he was and he told me that he had gone home........He did not stay close by waiting thats bullshit. Not wounded or Dead but he left a freind hanging about 150feet off the ground on a tower guyed wire. I was called in to assist in the 9 hour rescue with the fire department and the cops there, then I had to drive the guy to the police station while being followed by the cops so he could be charged. Damn thing was that I wasn't even on that load. But this does fall in line with "The SONIC Bullshit" you so don't want to hear about. It doesn't sound like Jason has an exclusive or a right of first refusal on this piece of property, so anyone who is unhappy with the way he is doing things is free to contact the land owner and work out their own deal. You sound pretty disgruntled about what Jason is doing, so perhaps you and your friend should just bypass Jason, contact the land owner yourselves and have your friend buy it directly. I don't have a personal problem with Jason! I'm just letting everyone know that there were options open to him on this issue, as far back as 2 years ago when he first approached people about it. And I really don't think its appropriate to cry for help now that he cried wolf for so long. Jason, Do you remember last year when my freind Dave Wall called you after I told him that you were looking for money for the land purchase? He told you that he would put all the money up front for this deal but you told him no thanks that you had it all under control,,,well I guess that wasn't true. Dave told you that he didn't even want to make a profit for the loan just his money back. Dave isn't even a BASE jumper, he just has freinds that are and the meens to help out but you turned him down..... If your not gonna do anything but talk, step aside and let others do it. There were several people including myself that told you that we would purchase the land to be a part of what you wanted to do, But you acted as if you didn't want anyone but your in crowd involved. Jason, After reading some of your post on the climbing page, it looks as if you are proposing tight restrictions on the BASE jumping community in your talks with NPS. Is this correct? Who will head the BASE organization, or the licensing organization that you spoke of? Why do we have to be in an organization? Why can't we be free to access the parks like everyone else? I read the list before I started BASE jumping, and still do to this day. I have a couple of friends on the list. If people remark about the number of deaths there are, then you should stand up and represent your sport. Tell them that number is a world wide number, and it's over a course of 30 years. I just saved a copy of the list, and if it is removed then I will put it back up on SONIC BEEF.com and keep it going. Good work Nick!!
