  1. your math is good, EXCEPT for the container. Container is the INTEGRAL part of your "getup". It's what people see the most. It's also the only thing that can or cannot FIT you. So when you are spending $3K on one (CRAZY if you ask me) - you want it PERFECT - both in the colors and in the fit. So I doubt many people are willing to pay even $2K for a used container. and 200 jumps should show, even a little bit.

nah, too high - 2500 seems about right. Did I mention I will buy it from you too? :P;) I can pay right now :P

    I'd guess around 5000 -5500... but it's a wild guess

what help is a WILD guess ? It's like the dude who says "I don't know how, but it must be possible". Thanks..

Doubt he'll find somebody willing to buy it for $5500 or $5000. This is just like a used car. ESPECIALLY with all the options. You never recover even close to what you bought it for.

Parachutes like this are worth what people are willing to pay for them. Usually you won't have a problem getting $100 - $150 for them. But to the right buyer you might get more for them.

you guys are echoing my thoughts. I figured $100-200 for fun and games, but eBay it is - perhaps I can get a little more. It's a shame we have snow here, otherwise i would definitely trashbag them and get to know what they feel like.

props to all the people who jumped them - even being a (relatively newly born) rigger it still took me a second to figure the lines on the T-bow. Poynters volume 1 is good help.

  4. well, this goes back to before my time...

I have a Thunderbow and a Starlite - both seems to be in excellent shape, lines are good, and overall they seem to be airworthy.

I am having trouble figuring our what they are worth - can anybody help ? The DOMs are Thunbderbow 1976 and 1971 for the Starlite (has the X slider).

Anyone have a picture of a Mirage MO in action? What size canopies do you have in them? And are you satisfied with your Mirage?

what kind of a question is that ???

I can send you a picture of M4, or even an M7 on a large jumper and they will all look the same.
the canopy sized are very clearly posted on the Mirage website.
to answer your only valid question - yes, I have been satisfied with all the Mirage products that I have owned or used.

    Hello everyone,

Does someone knows how to contact Chuck from Da Kine Rags jumpsuit. I would like to get a new Da Kine Rags suit but his web site doesn't work and he doesn't reply to the message I sent to email address I got from him.

Thanks for any help and above all Blues Skies

    Nico

DaKine has not been around for a long time, just have Tony build you a nice suit with Hawaiin print. Chuck was impossible to get a hold of when he WAS in business :)

    good luck

Why do people advertise things in the classified section then when they get the sale they either up the price, say its already sold or ask for payment without a rigger inspecting it. Three times this has happened now and I'm pissed. What happened to morals? >:(

some people just don't know to mark items as SOLD, or plain delete them. Keep in mind that sometimes you are buying from a rigger themselves and they are confident in what they are selling you. Of course when somebody asked me to send them a Cypres for inspection.... that was too much - simply put some people think that's the only way to handle a transaction - and they are overly paranoid - sometimes for the right reason, sometimes not. If you get the seller on the phone and they sound coherent and make sense - perhaps it's worth it, if the deal is good enough - plus most sellers I have dealt with have always told me that they will gladly take the gear back if it was not as described - but EVREYTHING has always been 100% as stated...

Bottom line - if unsure - and the seller seems honest but doesn't want to use a rigger - use paypal or COD.

I have limited experiance, but here is my bit .
cause of my weight (286 lbs exit) started on a pd340. this gave me a wing loading of 0.8 which after 16 jumps felt super slow.

So on gaining a licence 2 jumps l8er. took advise from both my new found fs coach. my aff instructor and the CCI and one of the chief riggers.

All of the guys had seen me progress and knew my mentality in jumping and how i was handerling the canopy.. definetly the best people to ask.

I went on to a sabre 210 on there advise. This gives me a high wing loading around 1.3 but i have had no problems in all conditions, have landed up wind, down wind, and cross wind landings, (not in exterme conditions but to give me practice for when shit goes wrong, which happens.)

I have a few more jumps now and have been flying a 9 cell 190 (wing loading 1.5) which comes in like shit off a shovel.. so i have gone back up to a 210 b4 shit goes wrong. it was not a problem in wind but no wind was scarily fast.

I guess at the end of the day you pay your money you take a chance, i feel confident at 1.3 in all conditions. i pushed it to much on the 1.5.. but could have flown it till i broke myself.B| Take the advice of the people who have looked after you so well so far, your in 1 peice after all so they must have some idea.

If you feel confident and can land in most condtions than drop it down a bit... 230 to a 210 if sometimes you shit yourself coming in. stay where you are.

    Good luck either way

    DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE,

you are comparing a ZP canopy to an F111 - I bet the difference you are seeing is MORE due to the fabric than the canopy size. 1.5 at 60 jumps ? on a F111 canopy ? You are walking (for now) incident report. Wake up before you break up. And this is not a smartass remark.

is that why lots of people load their F111 reserves it much higher than 1:1 ?

Go and find it out! A reserve usually has less than 10 jump altogether and flies and lands better. Anyway this topic is not about reserves.

no, this topic is about a new guy asking questions, and you keep bashing him and others who make helpful statement.

    learn to be humble.

Example PD 218 it says something like the max weight limit should be 170lbs.

PD 7 or 9 cell is a piece of history.

    there's still PLENTY being resold.

    Quote

but using the wing loading theory you could be 218lbs out the door making a WL of 1.0:1.

What on where? You not suppose to load an F1-11 canopy more than 1.0.

I'm confused. I used to think a parachute was just a parachute, beans are beans and cheese is cheese?! Unsure
And then if you exceeded those guidelines is that then dangerous?
How about reading the warning label on the canopy before you pack? ;)

Go ahead, an ankle heals fast, about 4 month off....

Dude, you are not helping. Answer questions that you know answers to, leave the smartass comments at home. I am surprised your attitude has always been like this (reading through the old G&R posts)

"If I were you I'd choose a 260(280) or 240 with those jump numbers you have."

Why do you think he should upsize?

I did break my ankle on a Navigator 220 ~WL 1.0 at jump number 87. Oh, I know he is special.... B|

don't you mean that YOU are special ? :)

I have had a national 28' in a 24' chest, it fit about but not quite as good as the original 24' canopy. I dont think a national 24' would bulk out the pack well. Also I believe the maximum suspended weight on an old national 24' is pretty light to be jumping surplus sport stuff with it.

This may be a good place to ask also....does anybody know where I can get a copy of manufacturers/dom/ser #'s that apply to the acid mesh service bulletin, I had it compiled somewhere now I cant find it anywhere.

FWIW my Phantom 24 says Max Gross Weight 188lbs and then has a chart that drops that weight as it increases the speed

Yeah, you're right; that was probably a single-keel 'dactyl. (They could get 'twitchy' in turbulence on hot days.)

And, you're also correct that the single-keel was used as a reserve. I remember Jim Handbury jumping his custom-built rig at Elsinore, way back when. It was absolutely the lightest, smallest skydiving rig in the world, with single-keel 'dactyls for both main & reserve and numerous creative weight-saving improvements.

I don't know about any 'commie' dactyls 'though. :P

PZ-81 can still be seen at really archaic DZs in some parts of Europe
