  1. Advice : a) grow thicker skin b) do not overstuff your container c) think about the size of reserve you will have if you a 170 is a super duper tight fit into you rig. countless times I have encountered situations where people got new rigs, overstuffed them and then spent their next season or two bitching about how tight their rig is, how hard it is against their back and how they really hate packing it. DUH ! while you are overstuffing your rig, please do the research on the countless reserve freebag extraction force topics (while main container locked) that have been discussed over the last few years. Bottom line - don't overstuff your container. You will have a much better time skydiving if you put in the proper sized canopies into proper sized containers. Trust me, I deal with this on near daily basis.
  2. If your openings are getting progressively worse, get a reline. And get HMA lines. good luck !
  3. and don't forget to account for the shrinkage due to the fingertrap (i.e. when measuring lengths on an already built lineset, remember that you are dealing with FINISHED dimensions)
  4. or the canopy might just be low on the steering fluid ...
  5. Just got me a few of Strong PEPs with Aerosport canopies. pretty cool vented sub-apex sleeve is attached by velcro to the crown lines. One fully deployed, the sleeve flies away, like a freebag. spider slider (like a Starlite), stowed along with the lines on the sleeve. pics attached
  6. I may not be a 5K+ jumper, but I do know a bit about parachutes, and have jumped quite a few of them. Common sense and personal experience tells me that being a highly elliptical parachute, the Vengeance was just much more twitchy, and thus more likely to spin up. here's the 2D airfooil design of a Vengeance :http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VN_089-170LT.pdf and here's one for a Sabre2 : http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/SA_097-170P02LT.pdf see the difference ?
  7. This was my experience jumping a borrowed Vengeance for half a dozen jumps. Why would anyone want airlocks in the modern age of Xbraced canopies anyway? Vengeance is not a crossbrace. Just a highly elliptical airlocked 9 cell. I have about 50 jumps on various sizes. I like them, but they are not for everyone. According to the PD rep who I asked in 2004 (shortly after they were discontinued), the canopy just did not fit into PD's product line. My best guess is that it wasn't all that popular, and the added cost of airlocks and the licensing to Germain wasn't making fiscal sense.
  8. I hate to say it, but depending on how you think, Racer had the AAD cutter on the bottom as well :)
  9. No idea what "para fab 911-190 reserve DOM 1992" is, but my guess is that it's probably an old Para-Flite reserve that's iffy at best. Otherwise, this rig has a nice main and a nice AAD - so if this is cheap enough, you can always trash the reserve/container and keep the main and AAD for a nicer container. Just a thought.
  10. You can make it friendlIER, but it would take way too much work, and that work will most likely not be manufacturer approved, and at the end you will have an old container with $300+ of work put into, that is nowhere as safe as modern gear. Basically, you will be polishing a turd. Vector2's are great rigs, but they were modern in the 80's and early 90's. Today, they are good for CRW and belly jumps.
  11. The size is written right on the link, it may take a lupe depending on your age ;)
  12. referring to a "beginner BOC hackey system" and calling Javelin a manufacturer really doesn't help your credibility ...
  13. You must be one of those people with super wide shoulders and eyes on the back of your head. ...
  14. I wasn't trying to question your credibility, just letting you know how many people may perceive the post. As far as this thieving rigger - let them burn. The buyer won't get in trouble if they didn't know they were purchasing stolen goods.
  15. You have a single post behind your name. Please post some pictures of the rig, otherwise your credibility is pretty thin....
  16. Please go back under the bridge. Your blabbering makes no sense and is quite illogical.
  17. I believe even the current ones are made in SA (the newest one I have is DOM 2009, and it's made in SA), so you are most likely looking at the canopy manufactured by the same people, using the same patterns as the 2005 one.
  18. I've owned three Infinities and one Mirage (each one for a couple of years, each one bought 2nd hand). I would go with whichever one is more pleasing to the eye.
  19. I wasn't trying to imply that you aren't old school enough, if that's how you took my quote, I apologize :) I certainly am not dated far enough, but I blame my parents. re: Racer. Actually, you may be referring to the SST tandem (pic attached- single reserve risers and R3 main canopy releases). But either way, I've jumped stuff at the DZ that was many years older than me. It's funny what kind of responses some people get.
  20. original Infinity (actually the Northern Lite) was made by Paraphernalia with a 2 pin reseve container, just like the original RTS (alrtough the RTS has back mounted reserve pins, and they are lined up vertically as opposed to horizontally) PS I am gald to have had people much older than me to have made my arguments :)
  21. elastic bands are nice, but if your straps are too long, your friendly master rigger can cut them down for you.
  22. both great long time manufacturers. If you are in PNW you are obligated to get an Infinity. Otherwise you will be ok with either.
  23. Yo ! Definitely get at least ZP topskin (i.e. Don't excluse hybrids with low bulk or F111 bottom skin). don't get stuck on spectra lines (microline is a PD name for spectra) - vectran or HMA are just as good, if not better (long debate) BTW : a) If you are" about 200lb and 6'1"", then you cannot "20-30 jumps or so a 190lb wing loading." b) at 15 jumps you cannot say what you are comfortable with, nor does your accuracy performance have any statistical significance. GOOD LUCK !
  24. I used to own one. Until you bought it.
  25. Contact L&B. The USB dongle needs to be updated to work with Win7
