  1. Toss up, so I'll nominate both: Billvon and Hooknswoop. Both for their valuable info and experience, shared on many occasions, on important topics. For me, that's what these forums are mostly for, to learn how to have a long, successful, SAFE skydiving career. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... 2. I wonder if any freefliers out there with the chest rings could tell us if they add to harness 'slippage' at the shoulders when head down... CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  3. Excellent info. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  4. It's actually because of the missing jumps (3 of Alchemy's - including their best round - & all of the Monkey Claw, according to the Omniskore site) that I haven't ordered it yet. But if Rapper says it's good... now I'm thinking about it. Hopefully they'll have a copy of it at the bar in Z-Hills when I'm there in Jan... get a viewing before I spend the CanEHdian dineros! 5. It's not about like or dislike - it's about being proficient and capable... to safely and skillfully do the things that each license permits you to do. I see nothing wrong with having high standards for each level of proficiency (license). ...and according to your profile, you got some jumping to do my friend if you'd like your "D" by Sept/03.
  6. There was talk of increasing power in order to facilitate a more realistic freefly environment. Anyone know if this was done? Or is it still the same as before where heavier guys need to wear huge suits and basically ass/back fly just to stay up? Thanks, CanEHdian www.magma.ca/~eh Time's flying, and so am I... 7. I frequently heard 3 seconds from this one otter pilot. I questioned it and was told something to the effect of a fast jumprun and low winds. Can 3 secs really be sufficient? Chris? Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  8. Hmmmm... as a f/flyer that's often in the back of the plane, I'm sooo tempted to comment on this... ...but I'll leave it at a very good point on Quade's part! Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  9. Cool, will do - schedule permitting... eh! Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  10. Right on Chuck - so, how'bout a swooping seminar if/when the weather turns bad!? (I'll settle for some beginner advice on your spare time...) Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  11. Interesting... usually people have a problem with backsliding at first - you're already way ahead of the game if you can move forward! Kidding aside, and sorry for sounding like a broken record, but find a coach and get yourself on video. Your body position needs correcting and it's impossible for anyone here to tell you where the problem is, without seeing what you are doing. One can guess... but I think you'd rather be sure and not waste any time 'getting it together'. A good coach will help you find that all important 'neutral position' quickly. 12. Verrry interesting... I'm supposed to me in Mexico City again in the new year for work. So they've got one of SDC's otters eh... What's it like there? RW, Freefly scenes... etc.. I'd love more details. I just may have to take my rig with me when I come down. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  13. Thanks Hook - good info. Interesting Bill, I think I get it... stay up there longer in brakes and let the strong winds get you back? (instead of your canopy's forward speed?) Also good info, thanks! Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  14. Hook, wouldn't any canopy always glide further if it were in full flight, but as level to the ground as possible? Hence, releasing brake toggles and flattening out the canopy with rear risers? Brakes set = toggle input = more drag? Also, if one was to leave the brakes set, would it be overly prudent to release them at an altitude safe enough to deal with possible problems (tension knots, etc...)? Instead of releasing just before it's time to flare... No devil's advocate here, just trying to learn. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... 15. To be honest, I found this thread to be ridiculous at first. Then I re-read the initial post and realized that the operative word is "opinion"... and that's fair enough when considering all the responses. But if anyone really thinks that they know who's best, hell, that there even IS a best, well... Anyway, in the spirit of name dropping, I'd also like to mention John Matthews - and add guys like Brian Germain and the gang at FTC... because these guys are not only excellent in the sky, but true gentlemen on the ground. I'm sure that there are many more out there, I sure hope so for the sake of the sport, but I just haven't had the priv to meet them yet. Sorry for not saying that they are the best... 16. Been wondering about this quite a bit.... having to do emerg proc AFTER loosening the chest strap. Loosening it last has issues as well... Would the more experienced care to recommend the safest order of steps? Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  17. As mentioned in the "Events.." forum, a bunch of us from up North will be there. Please don't be shy to introduce yourselves - been looking forward to meeting the folks from DZ.com... and of course freeflying with y'all! Cheers, CanEHdian This is me Time's flying, and so am I... 18. I'm told the weather is okay for camping... of course, being Canadian, I could be misleading you! A bunch of us from the Great White will be there! Please introduce yourselves to me - looking forward to meeting some of you dot.comers. (I'll be the freeflyer in red & white) Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... 19. Yep, what Spy said... go up there with someone very experienced - a coach - and get yourself on video. If your head-up flying is solid, transitions are good and you won't cork if/when you can't hold the H/D position... then you're ready to trans to H/D flying, but you can still be a missile on your back and track very quickly into someone who can't get out of the way. Video will definitely help with the next couple attempts... you will get it, we've all been there man. Keep trying, but be patient and safe! Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... 20. Just wondering if any ffers will be in Carolina for the T.G. Boogie Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  21. Well, this one time at the DZ, I did see this knockout babe walk by and my eyes did nearly pop out! ...sorry folks, couldn't help myself. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  22. Heard this story again the other day about an incident that happened at a local DZ this summer. A student had a spinning mal and the DZO who was doing radio did NOT instruct her to cut away... she rode it in and was injured. Those are the only details that I have on the incident itself. What I'm confused about is that this instuctor/DZO has been telling people that he could not help, since he is "legally not allowed to instruct someone to cut away"... and so all he could do was watch her go in spinning... hoping she'd do the right thing - but didn't. Does this make any sense? I'm having a hard time with it... CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  23. It sure would feel eerie having to do emerg procedures in that loose harness from the wide open chest strap... Anyone experience this? Comments? CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  24. Fair enough - thanks for the info Dan. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
  25. Dan, I've heard folks mention that once in a while their Cobalt smacks them quite hard on opening. Have you heard of this and if so, what's the scoop on this problem? BTW, this is a sincere, honest question on my part - not interested in creating conflict... just looking for facts as I decide on my next choice in canopies. Cheers, CanEHdian Time's flying, and so am I... (69-way, 108-way and 138/142-way Freefly World Records)
