As a Brit with no dog in this hunt, can I ask a question? What was the original wording in the US Constitution that required an amendment and why, if the founding fathers saw fit to make an amendment is it so hard for modern day Americans to make changes to the same document?

    This might help https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bill_of_Rights

If you read this and somewhat understand the passage of the Bill of Rights you my friend will have more knowledge of the US Constitution than 80% of the citizens of this country.

  2. Another useless FED initiative and another cute quote.

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/education/bs-md-hopkins-researcher-white-house-1008-20151007-story.html

This is how it will go.

Another FED administrator plus staff plus millions.
    Memos and E-mails fly everywhere.
    Consultants hired and paid.
Needed conferences held in Las Vegas, Orlando, etc.
Another State administrator plus staff plus millions.
States comply or lose some FED dollars.
Another Local administrator plus staff plus thousands.
Five teachers less locally because of the above.

    School absenteeism goes up.

    I'm Sorry
    Song by Brenda Lee

    I'm sorry, so sorry
That I was such a fool
    I didn't know
    E-mail could be so cruel
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh
    Oh, yes
    You tell me mistakes
    Are part of being SOS
    But that don't right
    The wrong that's been done
    I'm sorry
    (So sorry) So sorry
    Please accept my apology
    But E-mail is blind
And I was too blind to see
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh
    Oh, yes
    You tell me mistakes
    Are part of being SOS
    But that don't right
    The wrong that's been done
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh
    Oh, yes
    I'm sorry, so sorry
    Please accept my apology
    But E-mail was blind
And I was too blind to see
    (Sorry)

I LIKE how he has the tires on the ground,,,,for the tie-downs....;)

His house is about 14 miles (crow distance) from airport. Don't know if he had to remove wings for transport. Probably not because why remove wings, move airplane, put wings back on, remove wings, move back to airport, put wings back on.[:/]

Stupid neighbor - "somebody is going to get hurt - really dangerous".

I would put about six signs in the yard. You know the ones on fences at DZs. The ones that show spinning prop and the lopped off head.:D

  5. I kept times on 300 loads when we had a caravan last fall and spring. Times are tenths of minutes ie .37 is 22 seconds.

16.37 average takeoff to all jumpers exit.
    4.19 average descent.
    20.57 average takeoff to landing.
    11.31 average number of jumpers
837.91 average climb rate. T/O to all jumpers exit.

And Billy yes it is hot. Density altitude last Sunday was 2300' and field elevation is 120'

  6. I would not have put the plastic down, no need because existing concrete is not going to absorb much water.

Probably the concrete was way too wet when poured and not finished properly or poor concrete mix. Was this truck, bagged
    concrete mix, or self mixed?

You can rent concrete floor sanders but you would have to seal the room off with plastic. Wetting the floor would help with the dust.

With the small area I would just wire brush the floor.

***Obliviously the standard isn't set to high as other wen are more then capable of passing with "flying colors".

    We continually train and test.

The annual medical test for NYFD includes a 5 minute step test. That's it for physical testing. There is an annual physical evaluation, yet those evaluations go pretty much nowhere and firefighters certainly don't get pulled off the job based on those.

Hard to describe a test as critical or crucial if it is a one time deal and is never tested for again during their career.

Would love to see this firefighter perform this crucial test:

Dude is 300 pounds of solid fat.

He might look like 300 lbs but I think it is just the lighting.

Is there a criminal statue that accuses a person of cheating, with the word cheating?

I suppose I'd have to research the federal statutes and the statutes of at least 50 states plus D.C. & Puerto Rico. I'll send you my paypal info, you deposit a $3,000 retainer, and when the funds are confirmed I'll get right on it.

A "nope never heard of it" or "I think there might be" answer
    was all I was expecting.

My fault for not phrasing my question correctly.

FWIW, I agree with the moral and ethical point you're trying to make. But don't confuse it with a legal point; and let's aim the (ethical) point where it really lies: at the unholy alliance between the plutocrats and the politicians who craft the tax code.

You get my point (opinion) about cheating and I am not confusing the two (ethical vs legal).

By the way. Is there a criminal statue that accuses a person of cheating, with the word cheating?

I think it's more of an oligarchy than anything else, Jeanne. The distribution of wealth is alarmingly narrow these days, and it's seemingly concentrated in the hands of the few, along with a rapidly-shrinking middle class. I believe that democracy itself is at stake, because when there are the rich few and the struggling many, that's not a democracy - it's a banana republic. There can be no democracy without self-government, and that cannot happen without a healthy middle class to keep things in balance.

Warren Buffet uses that same reasoning for increased taxes on the very wealthy. Unfortunately he gets made fun of.

    I strongly agree with you.

Warren Buffet for higher taxes? you mean the rich guy that does not pay his own taxes? His words might have some meaning if he actually paid his legal share.

That would make him a tax cheat. Is that what you are suggesting?

Or is he someone who legally benefits from tax laws specifically written to benefit the very wealthy who, by some strange coincidence, are also massive political donors.

I my opinion that would be one definition of a tax cheat.

  11. When the US government set up a Vietnamese refugee camp on field 2 Eglin AFB my father would go pick up few or more, check them out for an afternoon, and take them to the beach or something.
He meet one young man, mid twenties, that was in the Vietnamese Air force. He liked him, so he decided to sponsor him. He moved into the house and lived with my family for several years.
He got a job, went to college and became a citizen. A success story.

I was expecting more of the tactical situation between the N. and S. Vietnamese forces. It was more about the evacuation of the last Americans and Vietnamese.
    It was very good.
