Posts like this should be banned. :) Now everyone thinks I'm somekind of an geek or something as I was trying to hold my laugh, and when it is just too much you body starts to shake and you still can't hold the laugh. I had to read some other post in the middle to stop laughin.

    Cave Base

Man, that must be an insane feeling jumping to a dark cave, as you probably can't see a thing in the cave before your eyes get used to it.
  3. Nice swoop... :) I really was expecting something quite different regarding to the topic. I guess I have just been lucky since I have no dirt on my jump suit.
  4. It's been a long time since I last saw the film, but I remember at least one of the songs. That is Orbital - P.E.T.R.O.L. and it is the one that plays on the background when that guy exits the plane really low.
  5. Wow, never even realized something like this could be possible. I guess I'll be watching next time my reserve is being packed. :)
  6. To answer your question, will 150 fit into a container made for 120, I doubt. I haven't seen any container that allowed downsizing by two sizes. If you buy a container made for 120/135 canopies, you might be able to fit 150 into it, but it will be a real pain to pack, if it is even possible. I have container made for 135/150 canopies, and even now sometimes if I'm not careful in the packing, I may not be able to close it.
  7. Me too, as I have 150 square foot canopy in a container meant for 135, and the closing loop is tight, really tight. I tried once to pull it open by hand and I do have to say after that, I was sure it won't come open in the air.
  8. My container manual says to cleanup the cut-away system once in a month or once in 50 jumps, which comes first. Me, I guess I do it something like once in a six months. :( Guess this is just asking for troubles, so I will try to do it more often this year.
  9. Okay here is my opinion, as I may be one of those rare ones who downsized quite fast, as I changed from PD Navigator 220 straight into the PISA Hornet 150. So, you have flown a canopy that is made of F-111 fabric, and I can certainly say that you will love the ZP-canopy. I made one jump on F-111 canopy and hell, I landed it hard, but haven't had a single problem on a ZP canopy. The flaring is so much more efficient on ZP canopy. Anyway, I would say atleast demo some 150sqft canopies too, after you have demoed the 170 ones. The difference isn't that radical.
  10. I think you should consider the Hornet 150 also. I haven't flown either of Safire nor Sabre 2 (I have Hornet 150 loaded 1.3), but all that I've heard/read, Hornet is almost the same as Sabre 2, except that Sabre2 seems to dive more. And that is exactly how I ended up buying Hornet, as I really didn't consider the extra $400 what Sabre2 costs worth it. But what I want to say is that demo all the canopies and make your own conclusions. Blue skies, j.
  11. I have Hornet 150 and I do pro pack it normally. Found out that it is super easy to pack compared to the PD zp canopies, as the fabric is much less slippery. Btw, as I bought my Hornet used, and got no manual with it, what kind of an packing method does PISA recommend for Hornet? And is that slider supposed to be that freaking large or has the previous user installed some tandem canopys slider into it? :)
  12. Hey, this is great idea. Since I haven't had any malfunctions, I've never even looked in the air, where my cut-away and reserve handle are. I guess on my next jump, I'll just try this one out.

    Mals

If I remember right here in Finland atleast the average was something like 1 reserve ride/700 jumps. But the original question was about malfunctions, and there are some malfunctions that don't necessarily lead to reserve ride. I guess these are a bit more common. (mostly caused by lousy packing methods)
  14. For the students, left hand pattern, others may land what suits best for them.
  15. I'm looking for a new canopy and thought that the best one for me would be one of those semi-elliptical canopies, as I really don't want to my body position affect in the landing sequence, but I would still like to learn how to swoop properly and have fun in the air. Now here is the question, is it possible to have a proper swoop with Sabre2, or any other semi-elliptical canopy (Safire,Hornet) at all? No, I don't mean any 300ft swoops but even 10-30ft would be nice. And what kind of a wingloading we are talking if it is possible, as my intention was to load something like 1.2 to 1.3.
