  1. Well, you "can" use it as a sort of 0.3 if you remove the Macro-part of the lens which will give you about as wide view as most of the 0.3 lenses out there, but this leaves you with huge black corners so the footage will be quite useless as can be seen from the attachments. For some reason the colors are reproduced much brighter this way, so I have to try to this setup with a little zoom so I get rid of the black corners. But you can zoom to somewhere as far as 5x - 6x depending on the camera, which is a lot better than on some lenses.
  2. I would go with the .43 fisheye +.5 wide kit. That .43 fisheye is actually wider than the .42, almost as wide as some .3 lenses but leaves you bit of black on the corners (can be fixed with zooming in). .42 is good lens too, except if your flying in the formation. My choice for tandems. Never seen that .5 lens on anyone here and no experience with the x-dream so cannot comment on that.
  3. I wasn't saying that those jumps couldn't be fun. Jumps with no proper plan and with people who have the skill can be refreshing but aren't really that good to develope yourself.
  4. http://www.freeflyeuphoria.com/freefly-tips.asp Tip 1 and 2 sums it up pretty well. "If one wishes to progress in freeflying, set a goal for every skydive. If you do not achieve your goal for that particular skydive, try to learn why things did not go as planned." "And lastly for this week, keep the group sizes small. "Zoo dives", (jumps with lots of people, little skill and no plan), are not only counterproductive for the learning curve, but they are extremely dangerous. Don't jump with lots of people just for the sake of doing "big ways." After I've tried to set a goal for every jump I've learned a lot more than before, and it's very fun when you achieve your goal and can say "Hey I've learned a new thing here."
  5. None before I bought a Velocity, now I have two. One toggle unstowed during opening wasn't a problem on a Stiletto or a Crossfire, but Velocity doesn't seem to like it.

    Video from ZHills

File should be there, just checked and everything seemed to be ok.
  7. There is a link to our website on my signature. All the navigation links are in english but rest of the content is in finnish...
  8. Thanks, there should be audio but some have complained they don't hear it, some have said they have no picture but they have sound... don't know.
  9. There is a thread in here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2047797 that contains a link to a video which is filmed on that cheapo Raynox....

    Video from ZHills

Made a quick preview some of the jumps I made during the xmas-boogie and thought I'd share it here. Final edit might come some day if I'm not too lazy to grab footage from all the tapes. http://koti.mbnet.fi/flow/preview.avi Some have had problems playing the video, it should be xvid with ac3 audio and works fine here. If it doesn't work try with VLC Media Player. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ All the other footage is from my camera except the ball-exit is filmed by Teemu Järvelä.
  11. I've used this system now for something like 60 jumps without problems. It ain't pretty but no, you don't need half a roll to make it stay.
  12. Hot or not, I like it. http://vapaapudotus.net/gallery/hanko-20050730/IMG_6784?full=1
  13. I think there is atleast one Springo and Ninja too.
  14. I went to Velocity from Crossfire and on full glide Velo definitely has higher riser pressure, but it probably benefits a bit more from the braked approach. I never thought Crossfire1 to have too high riser pressure. It was higher than on some other canopies, but definitely not as high as on xbraced canopies I've jumped. I actually liked Xfire1 more than Xfire2, Xfire2 had too light riserpressure for my tastes (I don't like canopies to have that light riserpressure). Then again I've only jumped xfire1&2 119 and (1)109 so can't really comment about 129.
  15. I've used .42 and .3 and prefer the .42. Most of the time I fly in the grip distance but .42 gives better view of the passenger. Why? My .3 is a fisheye lens and I like the clearer and not so bent image .42 produces for tandems...
  16. Your packing method sounds exactly same as mine, but I still get from time to time very odd inflations. They always start perfectly normal with the center cell being nicely inflated then something happens and it looks like the center of the canopy folds under and after that it tries to spin up. See attached picture.
  17. Don't know, it works fine for me? It is made with the Windows XP movie maker...
  18. I own Velo96 too and double S-fold it but the canopy has 700 jumps so it behaves nicely.
  19. [reply In the Speed carving course, we need to stay under the gates (not just the entry gates, all gates) for the entire course, but we're allowed to pop up for both Distance and Zone Accuracy courses. I personally would prefer that the same rule of being below the gates through whole swoop would apply to the distance rounds too.
  20. How about this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1699732
  21. I made quite a few jumps with one as I was for awhile without a rig two years ago. Before Merit I jumped Hornet 135sqft. I was loading it somewhere between 1.1 to 1.2 but didn't have any of the problems dragon listed. I actually liked it a lot. Sure, the openings were sometimes brisk, but never really hard. It is quite a lot "hotter" canopy at the same loading compared to any other canopy considered to be in the same class. Turns are much faster than even one size smaller Sabre2 or Hornet and the Merit was the first canopy I actually realized canopy can be turned with harness. Also the trim didn't seem to be very flat, much lighter guy did sink much faster with Merit150 when I was on my Hornet 135. Just like Dragon said it has really short control range, so that might be causing problems, but I think I flared it very similar height that I had flared before, can't remember.
  22. Don't know how many tandems you have filmed but I'd say after few more you want to fly closer the tandem. Much better footage.
