  3. My personal choice is Adobe Premiere Pro but that one does not come free or even remotely cheap.

    DaVinci Resolve is incredibly powerful editor for free, but probably takes some time to get used to it if no prior experience on NLE systems.

    No experience on the Filmora, so cannot comment on it.

  4. Just like people have commented on this, it is still a VX with couple of added benefits.

    Number one you will notice is the slower openings, though my VX used to open pretty much on-heading with the original line-set, now it has a tendency to turn either side at the end of the inflation.

    Second, it has way more power on the rears and no tail flutter I occasionally got with the original lines.

    Third, it keeps the speed going on slightly longer after the turn so the window for turn initiation is larger. I would say it loses the same amount of altitude in the turn, but the recovery part makes the difference.

    Downsides, you lose some of the floatiness VX has and it responds slightly less to the harness input, probably due to longer lines and steeper trim.

    What has worked for me is that I support my upper body by hanging from both risers. Makes the kicking easy even in a fast spin. You will find out quickly if it's fixable or not.

    Negative side is that you're still spinning and burn altitude fast so this technique obviously works only on normal deployment altitude.

    One time Velocity decided to give me spinner right at the hard deck, thought that I'd stop the spin and then kick out of the twists. Got the spin to stop but while holding one rear riser to keep the canopy flying on level and trying to kick out of multiple twists, didn't work out quite as planned. Ended up chopping at 1400 ft.

    Now, if I'm down at the basement with a spinner, time to switch canopies.

  7. Like the previous poster said you could propably get better answers on Video & Camera forum. But I've jumped with Canon IXUS 870 IS. It requires you to load custom firmware to your camera so you can attach blow/bite-switch to cameras USB port.

    Works fine but the rate it takes the pictures is quite slow. More recent camera models might handle that better though.

  8. I've jumped the PdF Merit 150 (I believe that was the predecessor of Electra) at 1.35 loading and it was a really fun canopy to fly. It was also quite twitchy at that loading, at least compared to similarly loaded Sabre, Sabre2 and Hornet.

    It reacted easily to harness inputs and had fast turn ratio, but started to lack a little on the bottom end of the flare compared to Sabre2. I know people who have jumped Electras with a higher wingloading so maybe it handles the loading better.

    Don't you have a chance to test jump it?

    Sounds like your GPU is doing the decompression, not the CPU. And I can only think it's a display driver problem (it is not utilizing DXVA) for those that have problems with the i7 processors.

    Haven't noticed on my videos? Only if the lighting conditions are poor then the video has a little yellow tone, but on a normal daylight, I'd say the color is almost on the cold side?

    Compared to filming in 720p you don't actually lose anything. Just like Jarno said GoPro just makes the cut for you if you choose to film in 720p.

    And for me it's just perfect mode for briefing, especially in freeflying. You get a lot wider view vertically. And if I'll edit a final video in 16:9, I'll just select what shows most in the middle.:)

True, post processing makes miracles but still, after applying as much as possible post processing to the originals (well, I had only Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere), I still couldn't get as clear picture as it is in the demo video. So I think they have definitely done something good there...

  15. Shit.. My GoPro is just over 1 year old and I think I need to upgrade! With this release I really can't see any point in "real" cams anymore (for video that is).

    If everything is truly filmed in GoPro 2 in that demo-video, it just kicks about every cams ass in sub $600 category. Or gimme a cam+lens combination that can compete in video quality even with a slightly higher price and I'll buy it, as I still think the audio on GoPro's is really lousy for tandems.

    Jump number 80, at 900ft I was flying in the pattern close to other canopy at pretty much the same speed, so I decided that I'll drop under the other because she was even less experienced than I was (If I remember right, she had something like 40-50 jumps at the time).

    Thought she would be less nervous in the pattern with more separation and yanked a hard 360, resulting in a stall on half of the canopy and multiple linetwists. Got out of the twists at 300ft.

    Lessons learned?

    Don't do stuff you haven't tried before with a canopy your not familiar with under 2000ft.

    Doesn't seem too bad to me (the video), but just a question how do you pack it? I used to have a habit of pushing the nose in to the middle (not inside) of pack job, and for me (VX94) it caused a lot more rocking and very snappy openings.

    Now I leave the nose completely exposed and the openings are a lot better and actually quite soft.

    I think I've jumped the same 104 Neos BMFin has and I just loved those openings, no searching, no turning, just smooth inflation. But it could be a wingloading thing, I was loading it at 2.0.
