  1. Is the dropzone at Threeforks, Montana USPA certified?
  2. Deep condolences to Brad's family and friends. Blue Skies Forever to Brad. Gail (Atkinson) Linne, Lost Prairie family, Montana Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  3. It would be awesome to have an LP scrapbook and we appreciate that proceeds would benefit future Joel scholars. Thanks, Eric. Joel's Mom Gail Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  4. No, the posting was for William Higginbotam, Coolidge, Arizona, and not Higgy. Higgy just attended the 2013 Lost Prairie boogie and still has his awesome smile and gentle ways. His wife and grandson David attended wih him. Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  5. I'm not a skydiver, but a skydiver Mom (Joel Atkinson is my son). I enjoy reading instructional and safet articles, and also books. Your article is exacting and I believe will be helpful to jumpers. In the era of 'easy-to-fly' chutes, basic instruction about flying accurately and avoiding accidents is more vital that ever. Thanks! Gail Atkiinson Linne, Whitefish, MT, friend of Skydive Lost Prairie
  6. Memorial services for Will Higginbotham will be June 10 at the Coolidge, Arizona airport. His ash dive is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the service will follow. If you plan to attend, please arrive 30 – 45 minutes early to be a part of the family presentation of the ashes to the jumpers and to observe the jump. Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  7. Skydiver and pilot Will Higginbotham died May 24, 2013 when the helicopter he was piloting crashed near Springfield, Missouri. Will was the Chief Helicopter Pilot of Lucas Oil Airsupport, a California-based company and was from Florence, AZ. Services for Will will be June 10 at the Coolidge, AZ airport, followed by his ashdive. Will attended the 2010 Lost Prairie Boogie. He leaves friends in the field of aviation, skydiving, & rock climbing, along with his family. The quote he lived by: Life is Good. Blue Skies Forever and Peace, Will. Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  8. Sad to lose Harry and my condolences to Janna and their family too. Thanks for asking him to say hi to Joel, Stacey... I just know he and Joel will do some great jumps together, and hey, maybe even a few heavenly swoops (: And for certain they will take good care of one another and watch after us. Blue skies forever, Harry. Joel's Mom Gail Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  9. Thank you so much for sharing the poem you Dad shared with you. Very comforting and with your permission, I'll share it with our family. Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  10. Throughout these past five plus months, I have often written that though my heart aches, I know Joel's spirit soars. Now my heart aches for each of the Washington families, just as it has for David, Troy, Jenny and Kyle's loved ones. Each of these strong men and women touched so many lives--their spirits are strong, and we will be sustained by their love each time we pause to listen from our hearts to their love for us, and experience remembrances of our love for them. Their spirits soar. Someone wrote in an earlier post "don't be afraid to reach out", and that is so very true. Each word, kind thought, prayer, every letter & e-mail counts as time marches on through this sorrowful journey. Our family sends our deepest condolences and we will be in touch with you to extend our support. Everything changes; nothing is lost. Please know our loved ones now have Blue Skies Forever. Fondly, Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  11. Tod Hendricks, Gearing UP Productions, has produced a website featuring Joel Atkinson and other skydivers. Page 1 features Joel's ash dive, page 8-9 includes photos of Joel and other jumpers, and there is even one from summer 2006 when Joel photographed Ty's landing into McGregor Lake, just south of Lost Prairie using Tod's camera. I invite you to visit the site. Tod said people are welcome to upload these photos to print (not high resolution), use as screen savers, or send along to family and friends. Enjoy. 12. Hey girl, thanks for posting this. I did a copy and paste for my family in hopes they can look at it too. We'll see. I sent the Interlake article/photos to you today. Pretty powerful writing; let me know what you think. Off to sing in a choir with 100 voices tonight; very inspirational and we are singing for our small community (east and north of Kalispell, Col. Falls) which will be fun. How was today for you? Fondly, Joel's Mom Gail www.freefallpic.com Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  13. Hi Shannon, thanks again for the lovely photos! They warmed my heart, and I shared them with my other son, Wade, (who spoke on men's choir night). He enjoyed receiving them and was also touched that you thought of us. This is quite the journey, but as you and I discussed, loved ones around us count when blessings and tragedy count. Please know that as your LP friend I am there for you should either occur and you wish to share. So good to meet you again at the Boogie. Please stay in touch and see you next summer. Fondly, Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  14. HI Shannon, CU August 4? We'll be doing the Jump for Joel at 10 a.m. that day and flying/dropping Joel's ashes. This would have been his 26th birthday and we will celebrate his life on that day as well. I'll stay for the evening events and listen to you sing! Sincerely, Joel's Mom Gail Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  15. Hope to see you out at the Prairie! I'll be there helping with registration July 30-August 5. Plan is for the Jump for Joel and flying/dropping of his ashes at 10 a.m. on his commemorative birthday August 4. Please introduce yourself when you arrive. Joel's Mom Gail Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  16. thanks, Fred. Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  17. The posts I read at dropzone.com comfort me in so many ways. I appreciate and thank you for your kind words of condolence and hope we can connect this summer at the Prairie! Sincerely, Joel's Mom Gail Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  18. Hi, I would love the better quality photo, if you could make it available to me. I'll be at the Boogie (volunteer worker) but it could also be sent if that would work best for you. Just say the word, and thanks. Gail Linne, Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  19. Hi Jack, I appreciated your words of condolence so much. Thank you. I'm hoping you will take time to say hi when you get to LP. I'll be working there as a volunteer during the Boogie, and may have mentioned in a previous post that we'll be having a celebration of life on Joel's 26th birthday remembrance, August 4. CU there! Gail Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  20. Hi Jack, I hope you will be at Lost Prairie for the Boogie. Don' t know if you got my other post, but wanted to greet you today as Joel loved the 4th so much and would like to have been in touch with his buddies on this day. I have printed the kind words you said about Joel and David. yes, they were the glue at LP and I can tell you that as his Mom it was exciting, dynamic and thrilling each time I saw the growth in Joel's skills while fun jumping & doing tandems, along with the pure joy he had for diving. Tho the pain is excruciatingly deep, I simply have no regrets. August 4 would have been Joel's 26 birthday and we'll Jump for Joel and fly his ashes over the prairie he loved so very much. Hope you can join us. Joels Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
  21. Happy Fourth of July to Joel's friends and family! I have a number of his log books and tonight reviewed July 4, 2004 when he made his 400th jump. Friend and colleague Lena made her 200th jump and there was a six-way to celebrate the event for both. Joel got pied with a garlic potatoe pie! As the Lost Prairie 40th Boogie approaches, I'd like to invite each of you to join us and also to be at the Prairie on August 4 when we "Jump for Joel". There will be a celebration of life for Joel and his ashes will be flown, then dropped over the DZ he loved so very much. Blue Skies Forever, Son. I love you so much! Joel's Mom Dropzone observer since August 5, 1999 when my son Joel Atkinson first jumped at Lost Prairie for his 18th birthday.
