  1. you might look at a lotus. they're a sabre-ish 9 cell, with airlocks. that makes them pack a bit bigger. not a whole size, but bigger.
  2. Skydive New England is right on the border too, should be able to help you out.
  3. if you look at chutingstar, you'll see that most rigs (mirage and RI seem to be the exceptions), most manufacturers have one size safety stow for all containers. so, if you have an infinity of any sort, it should have the same size as you need. As i understand it, a safety stow is a TSO'd component and you're not supposed to make your own. not helpful perhaps, but there ya go. 4. what am I supposed to call a pilot chute? call it a pilot chute. your main and your reserve are canopies. chute (or 'chute) is kind of a whuffo term. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

  9. i tried ordering one from pd when i got my new canopy a few years ago. they said no. period. wouldn't sell me one. of course, they wouldn't put vectran lines on it either, but now i see they will, so maybe they've changed their stance on removable sliders as well. 11. i've replaced mine twice in the last 10 years or so, never worried about it cracking, and it never has. doing it while warm is probably a good idea though. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  12. i have an I33 with a sabre2 150 and OP160 in it. i find the reserve is easier to pack than the main! the 150 is pretty tight. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  13. i'm a rigger, and i was thinking of charging an extra $5 or so for people that bring me a rig with the reserve container closed! it's free practice, should be taken advantage of. that said, i appreciate it when they leave the reserve canopy in the freebag in case it's a container i'm not super familiar with, it helps to see the packed freebag when it comes time to stuff it all back together. 14. i put ~400 jumps on a lotus 170, at a wingloading of 1.3 or so. openings were snivelly, probably 800 feet or so. the direction i would end up going was pretty random however. never violent spins or line twists, generally 90-180 off heading though. when observed, you could watch one side inflate ahead of the other which started a turn, then the other side would open and cancel it. packing was no different than any other zero-p canopy. it will pack larger than a non air-locked main. flare was great, long recover arc so timing it was easy. landing, see flare. windy days can be fun with an air-locked canopy, since they don't like to collapse on their own. using a toggle or riser to get it on the ground helps. i would then walk up the bridle to keep it from reinflating while i gathered it up. turbulence wasn't an issue. on days when others were getting rough rides and 'accordioning', i would just ride through. please note, this is not a reason to go looking for turbulence, or jumping on a day when you wouldn't with a non air-locked canopy. very heavy on front risers compared to a my current sabre2 150. couldn't hold it for very long, or very far down.
