  1. Not quite sure why this was in the news, but good for this guy! GLENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - An 83-year-old New York skydiver, who's been jumping out of airplanes for less than ten years, has reached the 100-jump mark. http://www.cbc.ca/cp/Oddities/070812/K081204AU.html

    T-SHIRT IDEA

Wikipedia also suggests (to me) that Norwegians may be more familiar with the term 'abseiling'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abseiling
  4. Uh, it makes no sense now. I see a picture of an object. I don't see a picture of an object strike. More importantly, does this mean your old avatar is coming back?
  5. I know your post was in reply to GreenMachine, but you may also have been influenced by Andy_Copland, to which I would say that if you have been lurking for a year, you should know better than to let comments like that get to you. :-) There ain't nothing wrong with doing research.
  6. Also known as 'cro'... though I suspect if you actually called it that, you would get a lot of blank stares...

    Build your own DZ

This particular 600' object costs about one billion dollars. Of course, it has other amenities besides the 24/7 roof access, such as a gym, spa, permanent accommodation for 600 people, etc. ...

    Build your own DZ

Here's an idea for you, if money is no object: build a house with your own rooftop jump. Exit point: 173 metres. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20070601.INDIASIDE01/TPStory/?query=india%27s+richest+man For that much money, I hope they are building in good landing sites on each side. I also found this article about a reality TV series involving "jumping off a bridge". But it turns out they are only talking about bungee jumping... http://www.canada.com/saskatoonstarphoenix/news/lifestyle/story.html?id=35489198-9083-43f5-946b-e5e2fd7b793f
  9. Do I have to start a petition to bring back your old avatar?
  10. I mean this respectfully, so I hope you can take it that way, but aren't you a major proponent of the whole "Skydiving isn't BASE. I'm not a skydiver; I'm a BASE jumper." thing? I happen to like skydiving. In fact, I think there are a lot of people who enjoy both skydiving and BASE jumping (maybe you are one?) and from that point of view I agree with you that I don't see a need to separate the boards.
  11. Article appeared over the weekend in the Canadian newspapers: http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news/story.html?id=f53963d5-c42e-4ee7-90e3-1480428b05aa It was syndicated, so you'll find it other places as well.
  12. 100 ft is the highest you want to go, but 240ft is too low? I think you need to figure out which way is up before you start BASE jumping...
  13. Did I miss something?? Yes: the word is 'feces', not 'fices'.
  14. Can't resist making these semi-off-topic postings... A British Everest summiteer has become the first man to fly higher than the top of the world in a powered paraglider. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6666889.stm
  15. Presumably to remain anonymous. That being the case, you might want to consider removing your post.
  16. Try this page: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/base-jumping.htm Extract: "Anyone who accomplishes a jump is recorded in a notebook. When they complete one jump of each type, they are assigned a BASE number in sequence of the people who have completed all four types before."
