  1. I'm guessing this is Wetherspoons Richard? I've always wanted to try an Abita since I saw the Japanese jazz fan buy one for himself and Antoine in a Season 1 episode of Treme and I looked it up.

Awesome Brian! Simple, cheap and effective. :)Honestly, I can't believe no one has thought of this before. :S

    Brian Germain

I am not the first person to come up with this idea

Also, cheap in the short term, but maybe not in the long term. With the small cameras now, there are simple ways of cutting away the snag point rather than the whole helmet awhich can add several hundred dollars to the loss. Something like this can be adapted to cutaway the mount and therefore the camera.

  3. There are several threads on www.ukskydiver.co.uk regarding this subject. It's a confusing and often changing . this spreadhseet tries to summarise but not sure how up to date it is.

I had previously purchased cover from ihi Bupa but never had to use it. I've previously had Sky-Cover's Personal Accident policy but now they have a policy that includes medical cover, I'd probably consider that in the future.

    Are you currently in England?
I'm asking because I just received that issue *yesterday*, here in the US.

I am. I've had the issue at least a week and I don't pay for the Enhanced Magazine Delivery Options.

  5. I'm not from Australia and have no local knowledge of the dzs, but I did a quick Google and came up with a big DZ that I have heard of internationally. Looking at their website, it appears they do offer AFF L1 only. I suggest you contact the DZ directly rather than going through a middle man.

  6. I debated whether to put this in incidents but since there were no injuries and it is tandem specific, I decided to put it here. Taken from the Incident Reports (Item 4) of
minutes of the BPA Safety and Training Committee held on the 1st of August 2013
    :

    Quote

One report concerned a malfunction where the Tandem pair were spinning backwards. The instructor carried out his emergency drills, and the pair ended up on their backs. The RSL deployed the reserve bridle line which entangled between both
the instructor and the student’s legs. As the speed (back to earth) increased, so did the pressure on the free-bag, forcing it more into the legs of the instructor and student. The instructor did all he could to clear the free-bag. The free-bag finally cleared at approximately 1,000ft and the reserve began to deploy, which it did at approximately 400ft. the pair landed shortly after without injury. The instructor concerned believed that on this occasion the RSL exacerbated the problem and was considering releasing the RSL before cutting away if presented with a similar situation in the future.

I don't know much else than is reported here except that it wasn't a Sigma.

  8. Unfortunately, most are thrill-seekers. But we still give it away under the premise that you never know where it might end up and spark someone's interest.

And seeing as you are in the UK, they are most definitely classed as students here, and not passengers! They get some training whether they want it or not!

I didn't realise you could use the Aerodyne mini-force risers on other manufacturers' containers. I thought they were only allowed/cleared on Aerodyne containers? Clearly I was wrong.

The bulletin states that in principal Aerodyne Miniforce risers are compatible with all harness-container systems providing the points on bulletin are complied with. Some centres in the UK have banned miniforce risers with non-Aerodyne containers.
