  1. Predictions are tough, except for women's 4-way, I think 4 way will be very tight, USA and Italy are the "knowns" but France and Russia will be in the hunt. There are certainly a few other squads that could go for personal bests and land on the podium. 8 way - Gotta go with Airspeed. Thomas is a great new addition to an alread outstanding team. France and Russia will be close Ladies 4-way - France easy, UK silver, USA and Russia in a battle for the bronze.
  2. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe the warmer weather explains why the better male teams are typically in florida, California and Arizona. Sounds like some form of hypothesis might be formed from this.
  3. "why yes, yes it does!!! didn't you get that memo, steve?! " Damn it, missed that. All I ever saw was "mantis, mantis, mantis" I never saw any mention of that body part in the manual.
  4. does a bigger dick make you faster??? Damn it!!!
  5. Hi Stacy - Canopy control course for sure. Jonathan Tagle is at Elsinore. Even if a course is not scheduled, you can still likely get one-on-one coaching. Hit the Elsinore Web site for more info. Regarding canopies, can't say enough about the Spectre. I've known several people with landing issues similar to yours and they love it. When you start back, I agree with the other comments that you might want to upsize canopies until you find one that is right for you.

    What if

Lets not forget the every popular "Cover mistakes with blinding speed" Heard originally by me from Kirk Verner, but since repeated by many. Steve GT
  8. "All those letters look like the combination to my luggage!" Chris and Eric - whats up? How you guys been? I hear ya on the numbers/letters. Took me a while to convert over. Now I'm bilingual. That and a dollar might get me a cup of coffee Steve GT
  9. E, B, F, H, M is pretty quick. F, P, H, O, M is also fast. Remember, an F is just a P with leg grips dropped. E, B, J, D, L has some zip. Back in the day, when opal was a random, E, J, D, Op, L was a nothing more than a flashing drill. See the old airspeed highlight reel from 1995 (I think) in Gap. I think this dive is on there. If I recall - wasn't the FX something like the later??? Not too long ago, Hoover did an article on the fastest possible draw. I don't recall if it included the fastest possible random in it or not. I think the TSL jumped that draw once. Steve. Gt
  10. My recollection on the 60ish jump is the same as yours Chris. Steve GT

    Rain and SVO

not only does it suck up the rain, but it stings a bit. Neck gator suggested.
  14. So - who is competing in Advanced this year? I'm aware of Divewerkz in Eloy, Perris Voltage, Onyx in NorCal. Whats happening in Advanced on the East Coast? Texas, anywhere? Steve GT

  16. If I remember correctly, wasn't Airspeed a combination of Jack's team in florida Deland Speed, and Dan's team at Perris, Airmoves? Hence, Airspeed?? I also seem to recall that Airmoves could not beat Speed and Airspeed was formed from the "if you can't beat them, join them" theory. So - I would guess that Deland Speed was before Airspeed, but Gang and Airbears were in the mix somplace. Than again - I could be all wet on this one. Somebody confirm or deny the above. Steve.
  17. I tend to disagree. I think the women's division is very clear in the US. The current situation is simply a changing of the guard. Synchronicity represented the US extremely well in several World Championships and a world cup. Currently they are the best women's team in the world and they will go out on top. Isn't this every athlete's dream? Ron is correct. They made a very hard and well thought out decision to step down for Germany. Select is also a very good women's team. They finished 5th at the World Cup and will only get stronger this season. We should not confuse John Hart's business decisions with anything that is related to skydiving or USPA. While USPA does not favor a women's program, they are committed to sanctioning a US Women's team, and supporting it with Trust Fund proceeds, so long as this division remains an IPC event. IMO - whether there should be a women'd division is a completely different issue and it has been discussed in numerous other threads. Do I think there should be a women's division? Well, I'm a fence sitter. I see it better promoting the sport, but I also think women can and do compete on a very equal level in this sport. Do I think USA should send a team - HELL YES. If IPC has this as an event, USA should be represented. Select will do great. They have earned the position they are in and I hope they are supported. Steve GT

    Alpha team

are the members of the Alpha Team listed anywhere? S.
  20. Thats true - but they were also a very experienced team and jumping at a time where the Stilletto (I think) was the canopy of choice. While nobody is asking about exits from that low of an altitude, the lessons learned by that event are still worth remembering and are relevant to this topic, at least IMHO. Steve GT
  21. Ben, Alex and Ed have it right. Personally, I prefer nothing lower than 5K for exit training. How soon people forget - Anybody remember the Dallas Heat situation. Steve GT
  22. C - Curvy Flake F - F'n Open (Born out of several early funnels of this exit) L - Ladder S.
