  1. Yup, agreed, got the Mirage freefly hackey with the tuck tab when I bought right off student status - at first i didn't use it because I was afraid it would require more pull force or minor hang ups, but after having a half-pulled out PC on a helo jump (from sliding down the door edge to get to the skid), I've never not used it and never had to modify my pull motion or even pull any harder - Mirage did a great job engineering the correct angle on that little thing. I do see the potential to exacerbate a problem like a dislodged main pin - if a floating bag were to create enough drag to pull a regular PC, I don't think these tuck tab hackeys would ever pull - the only angle they pull easily is the normal throw out motion. Regardless, I'm still a fan. "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  2. I had lost the lens cover on my AltiTrack over New Year's at Eloy (because the case had cracked, and then broken), and when I asked how I could get it replaced, Mads wrote me back and had me send it in - a couple weeks later I got what looked like a brand new AltiTrack, except it still had all my jumps logged on it
  3. Just my .02, but I'm not a huge fan of the Mirage G4 and D-Ring reserve handles - it doesn't seem to secure that well, like it was designed for pillows and the D ring added as an afterthought. First time I saw a floating reserve handle was that combo, while that jumper was in the door - definitely a pucker moment. That jumper certainly triple checks her D handle in the plane now. I myself have two pillows on my G4, which have worked fine for me on both my reserve rides. It seems to me that the Infinity SOS rigs I jumped as a student were much more secure - maybe something Mirage needs to look at? "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  4. Two cutaways, three reserve rides in 431. #1, lineover on a SOS student rig that I didn't pack, #2 (terminal RR - ouch) after a no pull when I was having some issues after transitioning from ripcord student rigs to BOC throwout, and #3, lineover I packed myself not so long ago "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  5. I most likely beat my RSL on my last cutaway just under a month ago - video of it at http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=Video&init=quick#/video/video.php?v=227865330315 For the OP - according to my AltiTrack I lost around 250' from chop to fully open reserve. And - not to hijack the thread - what I was practicing and executed *might* have been too fast, but I would think that it's more important to have the presence of mind to make sure that your cutaway cables are clear before pulling reserve rather than just pausing between pulls, something I was aware of when I pulled the cutaway. And if your focus happens to be on making sure your cables are clear before you pull silver, your RSL is gonna pull silver for you anyway as soon as the riser it's attached to is gone. 6. Nice shot. Not a USAF F-16 either. Dutch, maybe? I can't really tell from the photo res. "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  7. I don't know if he's even planning on coming this time. We could always tie him to a chair Shoula seen him in Idaho, sitting on a recliner IN THE FIRE and jumped out just before it burned through the seat!!! "We'll start the ass kissing with you"

  9. Jump 23, check out dive - pretty violent opening on a Skymaster 290, left side line over, started spinning me pretty good, popped the brakes to see if I could get it to clear, vividly remember saying aloud "nope" when the spin increased speed and grabbed the SOS handle and chopped it. Wasn't worried until the reserve spun up 3 times from the spin, but all said and done I was out of them by 1500'. I had prepared myself before by telling myself it's gonna happen sooner or later, so I need to be prepared mentally as well as knowing EP's... ...felt totally normal after standing up the landing but was having a bit of trouble talking straight afterwards. Still feel very much like it made me a better, more confident jumper. Instructor got a bit of the main ride on video, cool to watch, and it does happen REALLY fast. Plus it's a fun story to tell
  10. Hope it's good... ...not that I liked the first one or anything (Hint, hint, sig line) "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  11. Absolutely love mine. Used to say "I love my rig" to no one in particular when I first got it, and figured that that would wear off eventually... ...yeah, I still say it, to no one in particular, 9 months and 150+ jumps later. LOVE it. G4.1/M5, currently with a matching Spectre 210 and not matching (new Orange/White/Sky Blue) PD193R. "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  12. Hehe that WAS a good party... ...and I snuck into the back of your pic! "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
  13. This is tragic.. ....just saw this on MSNBC.com - Anybody know what happened here? Doesn't strike me as a suicide, but reminds me of a story I heard as a student of somebody who just simply forgot their rig and went out the door anyway without anybody on board catching it. I'm very unaccustomed to ANYBODY except perhaps the pilot being on board an aircraft without a rig on (tandem students excluded), not sure off the top of my head what the rules are on that either. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25024995/ Mods - if this should be moved the incident forum, please move. 14. I don't think he ever gets on here, but one of our pilots is actually a genuine no-shit rocket scientist
  15. Mine don't have any sayings on them, just a :( and a :)! See the pics. "We'll start the ass kissing with you"
