  1. Pat007 - worst case, you cut away not realising how your lines are tangled around you, you fall down, but one of those lines ends up around your neck, and that's now taking your full weight. You've just hung yourself. Maybe an extreme case, but if you are unsure, is it worth this risk?
  2. Learning efficient packing techniques will be far more beneficial than getting a new d-bag that you will still have to get a canopy inside. If you're pro-packing, maybe look in to the "reverse S fold" method which puts the canopy in the bag in stages, rather than the traditional all at once method. I've been using this technique pretty much for ever (or at least since I got my very first brand new canopy) and it made things much easier for me. 3. 15mph relative to what? The Ground. The ground has no relevance to canopy flight. If you are trying to understand canopy flight in terms of the ground, you are not understanding canopy flight. You are in that 15mph wind regardless which direction you are going. Crosswind is a reference to your movement across the ground, not your movement in the wind. If there were no ground to change your (re)actions and perceptions, and you did your turn exactly the same in any stable airmass, your altitude loss and plane out would be the same each time, regardless of whether that airmass had a ground speed of 1mph or 200mph. How you hit the ground would vary considerably in those two airmasses though... Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above! I'm pretty sure I'm not though... 4. In that case: Skylark are listed for their canopies, but are not listed under the jumpsuits section - http://www.skylark.ua/en/equipment/ They have several RW/FS suits: Their "General" one, their heavier person one, and their Comp. Suit "Energy". FF suits: Tight Fit, Loose fit, WTF-I, WTF-II, Split suit, Swoop Suit Camera suits: Hunter CS, Hunter IW, and Hunter S Split suit Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  5. Of those 5, how many were using a skyhook, and how much do you think that was a contributing factor to the twists over the reserve itself? Genuine question, or is that bringing in another can of worms?! 6. I think that is the Ext models, if I recall correctly? I thought the Vision was just the same as the classic, but with slightly different closing flaps and riser cover panels, which (I figured due to the "vertical stripes phenomenon") makes it look more sleek and compact... 7. Anyone know if the X3000 or AS300 are backwards compatible with the old remote the RM-LVR2 or will they only work with the new remote the RM-LVR3? 8. It's a bold move by Nikon I that from what I've read their starting prices are quite high compared to the established competition (GoPro) for their similar level camera. and clicky it!! - http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/action/ Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  9. I imagine if the stab is available in 4k mode, then it is not likely to be electronic? Unless the sensor is reading at higher than 4k for the buffer around the image? Interesting to see how it compares to the Sony's especially as the new Sony cams have B.O.SS. Edit: Just read a bit - it is electronic stabilisation, but apparently it is "professional grade". 10. Correcting the typo for my website... www.skyswitches.com Thanks for the feedback! Glad they're working well for you. Nibbling on them should be fine. Biting... not so much! 11. Bringing up an old thread - In the action cam arena, where all I'll be doing is using videos on my computer and youtube etc, no burning to any form of disc, does it matter whether I set my camera to ntsc or pal? I'm in the UK, so automatically I thought to set it to PAL, however that gives lower frames rates. 25 instead of 30 and 50 instead of 60. Will it make the slightest difference which I choose? For non-slowed done, non-slo-mo, just regular filming of jumps, will one look smoother than the other? 12. Think the common European models are the CX115. That's what I still use. Edit: scrap that. Just did a quick UK ebay search and there was only one CX115 on there... thought they were way more common than that. 13. Well the one I wanted I ordered monday night, and it was delivered this morning. And magnets stick to it front and sides! So I'm happy. It's located in the utility room, so no risk of it darkening the kitchen. Will see how it holds up to marks... if it starts showing them more thna we'd like, we'll just selectively position the fridge magnets!! 14. Sometimes when you need a word you have to make one. Your post was worth reading just for this alone. Made my morning, thanks! And yes, fridge magnets are an important part of the art gallery in my kitchen as well. Edit, my God!! I Googled it, and it's a real word. I even learned something, thanks again! I had no idea if it was a word or not! It just seemed the most logical word for the context! 15. Well fortunately I don't use my daughter's fecal matter for her "art". I like the cleaner look of a bare fridge freezer, but I also like the souvenirs and memories. A magnetic one lets me choose either. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  16. Well, thanks for all the answers!! I had done my research on SS and magnets and the like, and all it pointed to was that SOME brands' SS fridge/freezers were magnetic enough for fridge magnets to stick, and others were not. So the only way to find out for sure with the one I was wanting to buy was try it and see. Unfortunately all major appliance show rooms in my area did not have a Hotpoint one to try out. Fridge magnets stuck to Beko and Samsung SS ones. And oldwomanc6 - the fridge magnet issue was actually a major concern, the reasons being: 1) I like them - have one as a souvenir from every new place (generally country, occasionally city) I go; 2) I like to put my toddler daughter's "art" on there; and 3) my short list of new fridge freezer had about half a dozen or so on there that were pretty much as good as each other for my purposes, the difference seemingly being the finish. I liked the SS finish best, but would have been happy with the other ones too, so as I knew fridge magnets would stick to the other finishes, this became the deciding factor on whether I'd get the SS one or not! And Nigel99 - thanks for the confirmation!!! Damn good luck/chance that!!! And I've now ordered the SS Hotpoint FF that I was looking at.
  17. Anyone out there have a Hotpoint stainless steel fridge/freezer? Has to specifically be Hotpoint, as my research has indicated different build methods with different brands means some SS fridge/freezers are magnetic and others aren't. Need to know whether fridge magnets stick to them or not. I'm not sold by the answer customer service gave me due to their not even related nonsensical answer in the first instance, so would rather put faith in first hand accounts. 18. Yes, that definitely answers my questions! Thanks for the detailed answers and explanation on top of the answer.
  19. I'm sure this is one that you probably can't answer yet, but do you have an idea of what price point it'll be coming in at? And the life of the unit? Apologies if these are things already asked somewhere in this thread. 20. And for comparison, the optimum stats: size / MSW (kg) / pack vol 99 / 100 / 228 106 / 100 / 239 113 / 115 / 250 126 / 115 / 271 143 / 115 / 298 160 / 120 / 331 176 / 123 / 355 193 / 125 / 402 218 / 127 / 438 This info on optimums was taken from the attached file (that I can't find the URL for at the moment) Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  21. And the x-fast isn't as low limits: Model / MSW (kg)/ Volume (cu.in.) 120 / 80 / 225 135 / 90 / 252 150 / 95 / 270 170 / 100 / 315 190 / 110 / 330 220 / 120 / 355 245 / 130 / 415 265 / 130 / 440 Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  22. The Speed2000 has very low MSW limits when compared with some other reserves: Size in sqft / Max suspended weight (kg) / Volume in cui 120 / 72 / 221 135 / 80 / 248 150 / 88 / 266 170 / 96 / 307 190 / 110 / 322 220 / 115 (105 Student) / 344 250 / 115 / 393 I believe there is a big thread about low pack reserves where the Speed2000 is discussed quite a bit. 23. Well, for people in the UK, or rather BPA members, the decision from the manufacturers of the Cypres has been over-ruled by the BPA, and it is still considered a MANDATORY service at each of 4 and 8 years. http://www.bpa.org.uk/assets/Stay-safe/Safety-informtion-bulletins/108.-Bulletin-2-16-06-06-16-Mandatory-Cypres-AAD-Maintenance.pdf Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  24. Good idea, but could mean for people that don't exclusively do wingsuiting that they will need a dedicated wingsuit rig, as IF this doesn't also operate as a regular cypres if it detects it is not a slow fall wingsuit jump, then using a wingsuit cypres for a non-wingsuit jump could be dangerous? Thinking out loud here... Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  25. Hardly extensive, but there's a little database of reserve packers and how much they charge here: http://jumpticketprices.com/packers.asp It's got a few people here and there in it, but obviously not even remotely close to all that can, so only a little snapshot of prices charged.
