  1. I came to Sweden to skydive in Gryttjom, but when I got there they had had about 2 weeks solid of rain, so their grass runway was flooded and the place was shut cause the planes couldn't take off and land. Oh crap.

I managed to get a lift to Aros where I did my jumping, but as all my train tickets were booked too and from the station near Gryttjom I had to return on a sunday evening so that I was able to get my train on the monday morning. And that is where the staff/members at this place were absolutely amazing. They picked me up from the bus stop on sunday evening, to save me from having to walk the 3km to the DZ. The three that were there talked to me all night, and helped make sure I was getting the right bus in the morning. I could stay the night on site in their bunk house, without any issues. Then one of them gave me a lift to the bus stop in the morning, insisting the night before that I wake him up regardless so he could give me the lift. Now the key point here I think is that I hadn't made any jumps there, so I had spent no money at the DZ, yet the people went out of their way to make me feel welcome, make my trip easier and help me out. You really can't ask for much more than that from people.

I'm definitely going to be coming back to Sweden to jump in the future cause it is so much cheaper at the moment than jumping in the UK, and I'll definitely be giving Gryttjom a visit when I do.

  2. I went here recently as Gryttjom was shut due to the rain that had been in August. Over 2.5 days I got 13 jumps in, but probably could have got a few more in if I had manifested faster and packed faster. I went there as a solo traveller but managed to jump with other people on most of the jumps. The staff were friendly and took time to talk to me and one guy even made sure I was involved in a speedstar on a lift. The facilities are good. Canteen for your food, kitchen area to self cater in, bunk beds on site, ok sized packing area, but outside is used too if the weather is good. There's a sauna and shower block, where you may have to leave your inhibitions at home as they are mixed, communal showers.

I had a good time there, met some fun people and with it being so much cheaper to jump there just now than in the UK, I'll almost certainly be going back.
