  1. get a dz-briefing first when you jump somewhere new? try to land in the MIDDLE of the field? try landing on the dz? just a couple options.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  2. took me almost a year longer to finally jump it, and, i wasnt disappointed! very easy to fly, easy pull, great performance for what i can tell, i'm super happy with it! i think i got finally hooked on wingsuiting with this one!
  3. even when i dont agree with it, at least you're making an effort and are doing an "educational" video. that's cool!
  4. no idea about HMA, but vectran is considerably rougher than say spectra.. my nzaerosports safire2 came with vectran and SS-grommets on the slider however. no abrasion after nearly 200 jumps, still look like new! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  5. my L&B products have never let me down. the Solo even works with a cracked case and a bit of tape. good stuff! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  6. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1322313/ http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sunshine_superman/ good reviews!
  7. looking at frode's size, you are totally right! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  8. Why not? Reasons are helpful, not every newbie knows who you are and that they should just take your advice because it comes from a legend of the sport. oh, i'm sorry, you 2nd legend of the sport, i think i gave plenty of reasons as to WHY get an analogue, right? does your highness disagree on any of them? you can charge that POS as many times as you want and leave it laying around at home doing nothing, once you go jump, it surely is NOT charged anymore. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  9. why would i want to cut off shit on a 1k$+ piece of equipment. if the suit's constructed well enough, there shouldnt be a problem. oh yea, and as long it's not giant- nor children-sized. your second paragraph seems to imply that you're not so sure about squirrels outcome in the WWL. i'm quite confident that phoenix-fly will absolutely tear the other manufacturers a new one. or maybe more than one, uhm, podiums.. really, cant wait! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  10. and on another note, why is it that the squirrel-fanboys always think they'll have to step in for "their" manufacturer? WWL is just around the corner, that should settle who has the longest dong! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  11. i bought a 2nd-hand carve, made for someone slightly taller and heavier than me, no issues whatsoever. but it's not like 40lbs heavier and 5 inches taller. and my rig was custom. so yea.. you know, imagine you buy 2nd-hand shoes from a kindergardener, or the ones from "jaws" (the james bond guy), and expect they fit with no issues, because after all, they're all humans, right!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  12. google Mpod or lazybag “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  13. I only know of a single jumper that most people won't jump with for personal reasons. And the funny thing is he's actually a really good guy when judged by his actions. Its what he says... you talkin' about me!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  14. 2010 you win! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  15. that is some fucked up logic right there It's actually math. If you have a 5% chance of something going wrong and do it once. You have a 95% chance of getting away with it. If you do the same thing 10 times while maintaining the 5% risk you have a 60% change of getting away with it every time. If you do it 100 times while remaining at a 5% risk factor you have a .5% change of getting away with it every time. But the more you jump the risk factor goes down because the experience factor goes up. I have no clue what the statistic is for 'camera incidents/camera jumps' is so I can't give you detailed numbers but I can safely say that it is far less than 5%. You haven't by chance taken college statistics have you? You do realize each event is its own set of odds. It isn't cumulative otherwise people would be raping a roulette wheel. I never thought I'd be writing this: I agree with JWest. Simple version, coin toss with a fair coin. What are the odds of going some number of tosses before getting heads? With 1 toss, the chance of getting heads is 50%. With 2 tosses, the chance of getting the sequence T-H is 50% x 50% = 50%^2 = 25%. With 3 tosses, the chance of getting the sequence T-T-H is 50%^3 = 12.5% With 4 tosses, the chance of getting the sequence T-T-T-H is 50%^4 = 6.25% JWest's example: the chance of success (the equivalent of tossing heads in the simple example above) on any one event is 95%. The chance of success on each of 10 events is 95%^10, approximately 60%. The chance of success on each of 100 events is 95%^100, about 0.6%. The calculation assumes the events are independent, that success on one does not affect success on others. However, as JWest correctly points out, the events are not truly independent, and the chance of success probably increases with experience. BTW, some unrelated fun with statistics: Mr. Poisson says the chance of you having a malfunction on your next jump is greater than going any number of jumps and then having a malfunction. Mark The problem with JWest's logic is, that he reduced the positive odds but kept the negative odds the same. He continued to subtract 5% from the "total odds". But that's not how it works. With one jump being 5-95%, 2 jumps would remain 5-95% of which each jump is 2.5-45%. Not 5-45%. So yes, in a sequence of a coin toss in your example, the odds of getting the exact sequence T-T-T-H is only 6.25%. But so is the sequence T-T-T-T. So overall, no matter how many times you jump or how you look at things, the odds of safety always remain the same. And this ladies and gentlemen, is why people's "doubling at red-black" tactic at the roulette table never pays out as well. so what you're saying is that the guy's a douche!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  16. they all do in the cartoons mentioned above! why not this ONE!? fucking immigrants ruin it for everybody!!! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  17. i was thaught one hand on each handle first, then pull in sequence. i prefer that teaching to what you were thaught, but that is up to your instructors discretion. ***shrug***
  18. definitly get an analog altimeter; cant say how happy i am having one, as every time i get to the dz, my digital altimeters rechargable batteries are DOWN. having said that, if you DO go for a digital, DO NOT get an N3. the visio is what everyone jumps where i do, and it seems to work for them. also, if you fly wingsuits at some point maybe, you'll have problems with a digital, you can always read the analogue one. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  19. i'm happy with my safire so far, no ambitions whatsoever to go any sportier.. better get it on with my new wingsuit!

    Hi

hey there! seems quite some heads are popping up, must be the time of year..
  21. has been like this in movie theaters here in switzerland for as long as i can remember. but i dont go to the movies often, i usually fall asleep. torrent that shit and watch it on my UHD 55", if i sit close enough, it's just like at the theatre. and if i feel frisky, there's no stopping me! has a tendency to be not so well received in public! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  22. would've loved to have been pulled over like that! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  23. yea, i was debating with myself if i should even bother, but was glad i ended up going anyway. didnt even get stopped at the border on the way home too! it's always a hassle and i fucking hate it. last time they swiped my car, must've been for explosives, because if it was for drugs, my opioids surely would have shown. six jumps since august. not bad. taking it slow. dont think it really does me any good physically, as i'm feeling my symphysis again quite a bit. not painful, but it's clear i'm not healed up just yet. mentally, it helps me to feel like i still have some life left in me. but yea, one step forward, two steps back. frustrating to no end if someone were to tell me "dude, you'll have to live with this for the rest of your life, so better fucking deal with it!". well, then i could at least try. same time last year i was certain i'd be jumping again early this year. i didnt. i hate this feeling of uncertainty. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
  24. so, last weekend, 20k feet jump happened, with the havok carve and i didnt totally suck! and this saturday i went shopping for a new home-dz. of course, they threw a big party for me with live-music, BBQ, salads, free beer and what not. the dude that's jumping for 30yrs tried to hop on my bandwagon! the drive is a little longer, but they have pretty decent facilities and the people seem to be friendly. lots of dogs too! i like dogs..
