I was driving to Deland from Fort Stewart last weekend when i started to get really bored. I kept saying to myself that I wish there was somewhere closer to jump. This is when i had the bright idea of calling my wife while I was on the road to look up another place on the way. I already knew there was no other large DZ’s on the way, but with the way the drive was going any aircraft that could get me in the air would be fine. I got kind of spoiled over the past 10 years or so jumping mostly at Parris Valley and then recently at Deland. I mean come on, how can you be disappointed about jumping out of large, quick airplanes. OK, so my wife spoke to this lady at “The Jumping Place” in St. Mary’s, GA. She was getting ready to close but said she would stay open for me and call a few others to come out. I got to the DZ and noticed it was a single C182 dropzone and thought; this is going to take a while. Boy was I surprised. Not only did it not take me long to get on the plane, but I got to remember why I loved to jump in the first place. It is the small dropzone that you really get to meet people. I got to jump with some great people and even though we did not make 20 point jumps (not that I ever). I had some of the most FUN that I can remember. I will be returning there this weekend. I would recommend this plae to anyone that just wants to have fun and jump, Thank you to Cathy Kloess (DZ Owner and my wonderful pilot) and to Chip, Shane Mathew and Tyf for the fun jumps.
