The first step is the biggiest. If you payed attenchen in the class room and you understand that things can go wronge. You'll have no problem dealing with anything that may come up. You had to take a test to get your drivers lisence and you deal with way more obsticals. But by using the information you got in a class room in knowing what to do is how you enjoy getting around in your car. I wear my closing pin on my silver neck chain every day. I received mine from some Veteran Jumpers here at my DZ and it’s something that I never take off, that’s how much it means to me. I find that only my fellow jumpers here and around the world are the only people who know what it is. And I find that to be really kool when it is recognized when I am out of town somewhere. Hi there, my name is James and I saw your post on Ted. I also have a custom made Quasar II made by Ted Strong. He invited me to his factory here in Florida and had his people tape measure me and do all the things they needed to do in order to make my adventure is skydiving the best it could be. I am 1 of 4 wheelchair skydivers in the world. There’s only 2 of us in the US. What caught my attention even more about your post is your location. I am from Dover Delaware, I grew up in Dover and I have been to that dropzone there in Laurl about ‘98 or ’99 and it was not a good place to jump. But in the past few yrs I have been hearing good things about it and I will be back to visit in Feb or March. Not to jump just to visit. My Dad and brother still live there. Anyway, Ted was a great guy and I was fortunate enough to meet him and work with him on my skydiving adventure. And I know that he would have appreciated your words about him. I go by the name of Pookie and I have been in this sport since ’06 and things just seem to be getting better and better about this sport and I just wanted to say Blue Skys to you from SkyDive City down here in Zephyr Hills, FL. Dude Seriously? I thought you were ganna say something else. We are Skydivers, we are a group of the Koolest people in the world and that’s what people hate. The fact that we will do whatever it takes to save up for a jump ticket rather than spend money on a dinner and a movie. I find the reason that some people hate the talk of a jumper is usually ( 1 ) they can’t afford to get into the hobby the way that we do. ( 2 ) they have a fear of heights and can’t understand why anyone would want to fall out of a plane. ( 3 ) you have surpassed them on the kool and hot list because they do nothing but sit on the couch routing for their team to win, or there talking about the girl they will never get with and wondering why she keeps bringing your name up in every conversation.. LoL Man, you’re a cloud jumper now and they will never understand the excitement and rush you get from every jump. When I became a jumper I found that my friends thinned out some just from the fact that some could not understand how fulfilling a free fall could make me feel. My girlfriend couldn’t understand how I could have plans every weekend, weather permitting. And when it has been a rainy or over cast day, why am I so interested in the weather forecast. Skydive talk can be boring to those who are not jumpers, I can understand that now. But it do’s not mean you have to stop talking about something that makes you feel so alive. I say when you have some free time to spend with the whuffos buy each of them a bowling ball and take them to the lanes. It’s probably a safer place for them to play  Stop Touching Me!!! I am hoping to do some traveling this year with a buddy of mine. I would be doing IAD jumps because I am still working on my free fall, it will still be great because I love the canopy rides. Ok People, things are moving along smoothly for Team DumbAss slowly but surely. I am still working on my free fall, and as I am seeing from my fellow Gimps we are all getting a lil closer to where we want to be. As for me, I have been working mostly on my accuracy for my landings and my canopy control, so I have been a lot of hop-n-pops. I have also been doing sum baby CRW stuff with my instructor and I have been having a lot of fun learning along the way. This is the closes I have ever been to someone while under canopy and I think with time and more understanding I will surly get better. I also have been thinking about going to a single strap instead of the two straps I am using now. I use one right above my knees and one around my ankles. I am now thinking of having only one strap a lil wider this time, but located below my knees. So really around my calf’s which will keep my knees and feet together, so I can PLF and still have the bend in my legs when I land. In this clip I am the one flying around my instructor as he guides me in closer, this was about 2 weeks ago. This past week I got even closer and things went really well and I am looking forward to sitting in on a CRW Camp whenever one comes back to my DZ. I want to learn more and I want to be safe while doing it. I have been coming within 30ft of my target on my jumps………. You will also finally be able to see one of my landings which most people don’t get a chance to see...There was a time when I just hoped I made it back to the DZ. And then I prayed I didn’t land in the swoop pond…LoL… But I have hit my X on two occasion and to me that was one of my biggest accomplishments. My thoughts on the landings are simple as this, my teacher can teach and my instructor can instructor, but only I can Fu%# Up the Landing so get it right. I might not do it every time, but to stay in an average of 30ft of where I wanna land makes me feel good. Ok people, I am back and I didn’t realize how much I missed the air up there. I had a couple of days off and I took advantage of the good weather we did have. I got 3 jumps in over the past couple of days, not too much to report except for that. I have been working on my accuracy and I got within 15 ft of my target on one of my jumps. Hey there, Work and more Work, I changed Shifts at work so now I have Thur and Fri Off instead of the weekends. Plus I had to save up for my move closer to my job, which I am still getting settled in, only been in my new place a month so far. And now I am waiting for my Cyprus to get back, because of what happened with the Argus. So it’s been a long road I had to go, but I am making my way back to the sport that makes me feel alive. SKY DIVERS !! —HELP !!! – HELP !!! I was just informed today that ALL Argus AAD’s are NO LONGER ALOUD in the Sport of Sky Diving.. If you have an extra AAD that is not an Argus that I could use or even rent for a year that would help me out tremendously. But it must pass the Approval of my Instructor. OK People, I know sum have wondered where I have been and what I have been up to. And sum of you really don’t care, but to those of you that do. This weather has not been the best for me and my work schedule but I am still on track with my blue sky adventure. So with that said, it was great meeting Minna as much as my schedule would allow. She has a big heart and big dreams to keep it full. She had thoughts of her and I doing a free fall together, but I must say she is way ahead of me in what we are trying to do. And there is just No Way my Instructor would think about putting my Dumb Ass close to anyone in the air except for him at this point of my training. I am figuring it will take me at least another year to be completely satisfied with what I am wanting to do, and even then it’s still not up to me. But with the right people supporting my dreams with me it seems to be getting better and better as time goes on. I have a project in the works and I am hoping to get more into it within the next month or so. I will fill you in more on it as the project unfolds for there are many hands on this one.
