  1. I bet we were on the same load. Not sure they ever did that more than once. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  2. Yes that's correct. They were returning from Dallas where there had been a meet. Houston had blanket fog and they were unsure where they were at. They tried to get under what they thought were clouds and ended up hitting trees. John Lee. Larry (Foghorn) Gallic, Steve Moss and his girlfriend (can't remember her name) were all killed instantly. pics - "The Holy Ghost" with student Steve Moss and Tenafly peas - John Lee 1977 ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  3. This one is for all the original Spaceland Jumpers. Does anyone remember jumping at the very short lived "Cow Pattie Palace"? It was somewhere in the middle of pastureland close to Brazos Bend State Park just South of Houston. My memories of it are vague. They used a DC-3 with clipped wings. Exit speed out the door was 150 mph. I also remember that on take off, marijuana seeds would come rolling down the isle. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  4. I have a lot of pics from Spaceland in Dickinson. I'll post a couple here. Exiting - Red - myself White - Landon Kelsey Standing - Red - Gary Ormand - White - Landon Kelsey ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  5. I'm not sure why Beeville is on this list. They are still operational. I've jumped there a few times as I live in Corpus Christi. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  6. SCPR struggled after the crash of the Holy Ghost (Our white C-182) in which John Lee and others were killed. I'm unsure as to how long Laird continued to jump there, or who took it over. Spaceland was rapidly growing at that time and we moved our team there in order to get more jumps. I know Laird considered SCPR to be his home DZ. It was a really laid back family of jumpers there. Everyone at SCPR was very friendly and they had great after sunset parties. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  7. Bottom right hand corner. You can still see the runway going west to east. The DZ was located just South from AJ Foyt's Horse racetrack. Look closely and you can see it. AJ showed up at the DZ a few times. He would have his out of town company park their planes at the DZ. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

  9. Here's a pic of Mike Smith at Houston Gulf Airport Spaceland. ~1978 Can't remember why I took this pic. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  10. Is this a pic of the blue DC3 named "Skytrain"? I had a few jumps out of that? I may even have a pic of it somewhere. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  11. Canopy in the background is a Starlite. This picture was taken in 1982 at Spring Creek Parachute Ranch near Waller Texas. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
  12. I jumped at the original Spaceland (Houston Gulf Airport) from '77 to '82. I was team captain of a 4 way team named "Volitation" (Gary Ormand, Carl Quarford, Landon Kelsey and myself). Most jumpers were into the larger loads back then so my team was utilized as base for a lot of the big loads. There's a lot of talk here about Dave's Metro Otter. I will upload a pic of it with me exiting with Landon Kelsey out behind me. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

"I spent two years of my life trying to put one in Houston along with a few Indian Casino locations across the US." Was this the tunnel that was suppose to be put in at NASA? ~Paul Creel SCS-5015

  15. I jumped Skytrain a few times when it made the rounds to Spaceland in Dickenson TX in the late 70's. I have a few pics of it. ~Paul Creel SCS-5015
