The DZ is to the right of the passenger terminal on Pierrefonds airport so it is easy to find. Once in the club there are many very helpful and friendly people that will valiantly struggle with English if your French is weak. With paperwork out of the way we found rental equipment that was right for us quickly. They don’t have jumpsuits so make sure you bring “jumpable” clothes, if you don’t have your own suit. The briefing was also good and very many times we were told that the landing area is a bit small so watch out. Beginners will need to sharpen themselves as there are not any real alternatives to the DZ and plenty of hazards. The club is quite small so no food facilities onsite, but during our visit they had a great BBQ at night. What a superb location for a DZ with a view to the stunning view of the mountains, volcano and the beach all in one jump. Be there early though as the clouds tend to come over the mountains around 9-10 o’clock. They did sunrise jumps some days, so take advantage!
  2. Skydiving: We only had three days available for jumping while in Lillo, but we got 13 jumps in each. Big thanks to loads of lifts and really quick packers! We finished our AFF consoles while in Lillo and found the instructors very professional and helpful. After the consoles we got lots of input from both Staff and Fun jumpers. Everybody was easy to ask and very willing to spend some time to give advice and know-how for new tricks as well as what to watch out for. Great! Gear Rental: If anything I think the gear rental is a bit steep compared to places in the UK. When we where there in Nov/Dec it was €19 per jump including packing, and with 4/5 jumps a day that is a bit much. In the UK we paid £20 per day for gear rental and then you pay for packing separately. Facilities: The bar is very good! Good food and very friendly staff! I have been reading in older reviews that people have been complaining about toilets and things, but this is now all sorted! :) Location: Great place, but a bit chilly in Nov/Dec – bring thermals and gloves! Where we stayed: We stayed at Pension Teresa and that is cheap and good. We forgot to bring towels, so Teresa lent us some, but easier to just bring your own. You can walk from the drop zone to the hostel.
  3. Freefall university I contacted Freefall University in mid November as we wanted to do a few days jumping in the end of Nov. I was told that everything was booked out until the 7th of January. I have later learned that it has not been booked out, but the drop zone is actually only open on the weekends this time of year. Why don’t just say this? As sky divers we understand that places can be closed for some periods?
