  3. It is a recommendation not a requirement, I do strongly urge all first flight students to wear an audible and helmet. Also they are instructed to check their alti after each of the two turns, then while on the final leg every 10- 15 seconds (about the time it takes to do an average circle of awareness, Body position check and fix, Heading check and fix, Alti check, over and over until 6000 feet) As some students comment "they never heard their audible beep" so it can not be solely relied upon. But yes I do strongly recommend wearing a helmet and audible. And isn't this what you call thread drift BUY A WINGSUIT My Website Tony Suits [url "http:/

  8. First, let me sincerely apologize to everyone in the wingsuit community who has been patiently waiting for the picture to be made generally available to the public. I realize that much time has passed, part of which was consumed by my trip to support the other wingsuit bigway event held at Eloy and organizing an upcoming season of events. I will not pretend I have not read everything from this thread. I understand that the wingsuit community has a right to see the evidence of our accomplishment. I also believe, that the rest of the world has a right to see our accomplishment as well. With that in mind, I was not prepared to jeopardize the publication or distribution of any content, simply to placate the vocal minority. For this event, we took media distribution very seriously. We enlisted top videographers, as well as media professionals. We take their advice very seriously. One such suggestion, was to not devalue our property (ie. the content video or photo), by freely distributing it online...specifically to Dropzone.com. We have secured the permissions and can post this now that most of the media coverage for January is in the mail. This is our proof, plain and simple. (clicky at bottom) As far as we have found, this is the best photographic evidence of the completed formation. We learned a great deal from this event. We learned there is great difficulty in trying to quantify the success of a dynamic wingsuit formation. As this was the first formation ever judged by "a grid," there was a very steep learning curve. Quickly producing a picture with a grid overlay for debriefs proved very difficult. In theory, it seemed an easy task. In practice, however, we found we did not have enough time, people, and computers to devote to the task. To put it another way, we were inexperienced and ill equipped. Because as a community we had never used grids or the wider formation spacing before, this event was also the Research and Development session for the use of the grid overlay. I learned a lot, and many participants and observers made constructive suggestions that will continue to improve the idea and process. I am sure there will be people who say that in strict adherence to our stated objective, we did not complete the formation. That point is valid, and in that regard, I admit this; As far as I have seen (pictures I have personally examined), we do not have a picture which held everyone 100% inside his or her box. What we do have, is a picture with everyone touching their box. I still maintain that we did it - we flew the most successful wingsuit big way to date. We exceeded all the expectations and all the negativity that was laid at our feet prior to the event. We were an international team coming together to further wingsuit flight. For the first time, the wingsuit community came together with the specific task of planning, practicing, and executing a dive with the specific goal of one perfect bigway. And it looks beautiful. We ask that those who did nothing to contribute to this event, remember that fact when you criticize. We distributed a photograph of the formation in our first mass email debrief. If you did not receive this photo, a photo with the grid and the formation, that tells you one thing...You were not there. We hope you will join us next year to make an even bigger, better formation building on what everyone achieved in 2008. In closing: Thank you to all who participated. From you, we have learned a great deal, and will strive to apply all of the feedback and lessons learned next year. As you gave us your all, we too will give you our all in the planning of next years event. We hope that we gave you a professional, safe, and fun event in exchange for all of your hard work and dedication. Congratulations again, you earned it. For those who didn't participate, and even those who have been consistently negative, we welcome you to be part of the team. This doesn't need to be about egos or brand names. I would rather see us succeed and be taken seriously by the rest of the skydiving community, and we can only do that together. 12. I can appreciate DZ.com, but please get out and jump, so your jump # is higher than your post #. If your post # is higher than your jump # please go to nearest dropzone, buy lift tickets, get on plane, jump then repeat. Also refrain from further posts until jump # is higher than post #. "quote" It's in the rules. That should be enough. Having said that, imagine if everyone posted every post they made in every forum; it would ruin the structure of the site. You'd effectively have just one very nosiy forum. What if an FS jumper posted their picture and link to a competition in here? You think you'd like that? " That would not offend many people here, but we are talking about a (wingsuit photo) here." "I guess somehow it has no place in the wingsuit forum." "Ya,.......I........guess........that........makes.........sense." "quote" The post that is now in General started out here and was moved to General by me so that it would get a wider audience. If you'd hung around here enough your would have seen the link in here that indicated it had been moved. "So basically what you are saying is if you only come here to read the wingsuit forum your not going to see this." I know you feel that it is getting more exposure in the general forum but a lot of people here do not read that forum. "i am curious, did this get posted in the general forum as well as the wingsuit forum, or was it moved to the general forum because it was decided that it would receive more exposure." There must be a way around this, hmmmmm." "quote" If you'd hung around here enough "nope, too busy jumping wingsuits to do that." "quote" Please also see the bit about no griping at the bottom of the rules. "This is in no way griping, just expressing an opinion, which is what this place is for." "DISCLAIMER" This in no way is a personal attack on anyone involved, some wingsuiters were hurt in the making of this post. BUY A WINGSUIT My Website Tony Suits [url "http:/
  13. I'm not sure why it is wrong to "cross post", big friggin deal. Get off the computer and go jump more.
  14. Avery I am proud to be a part of the Flapjack record. Man, I ate the whole bag of Stroopwafels I mentioned earlier and just now, "I took the world record biggest shit." How do you like that, James and I both set world records all in one thread, That sounds like a product of the "Worlds Largest Anus Diameter" that in it's self has to be a world record. BUY A WINGSUIT My Website Tony Suits [url "http:/
  15. "There seems to be some confusion between the Elisnore event and mine." This has only been created by you! Please stop, the only people that suffer are the jumpers. "What I intend to do is bring the best wingsuit pilots in the world together and attempt to build the largest slot specific formation to date" Sorry but this will be done in Elsinore, you have no chance. "With that said, the bigger goal is to push wingsuiting to the next level as it has started to stagnate in mediocrity of flight" That's not true at all, wingsuiting is in its biggest expansion stage right now. Its only mediocre in your mind. "People need to start flying their bodies and flying their suits faster, the way they were designed, not the other way around." This would be fine on a dive with everyone of a similar build flying similar suits. That however is not the case, we always have tall and short pilots, heavy and light with a big mix of suits. I heard all about your fast big way group solo's at Cochstead. "With the speed it becomes easier for people to maintain consistent levels and it's easier to maintain proper distances as there is less "breathing" or accordion effect in the formation as it gets bigger." This is far from the truth, the faster you fly the more sensitive a suit becomes to inputs. The fast flocks only seem to work well with more experienced pilots, and the few less experienced ones that are flying ahead of their jump number. "I could give a rats ass about a record that no one will remember or care about in a years time as there is no governing body who will ratify it or even officially recognize it within skydiving" No one cares how you feel about this record. The FAI will not recognize wingsuiting until it sees this kind of stuff happening. Proposals have been put forth and eventually they will recognize it. "But I do want to keep wingsuiting fun and to eventually have it recognized as a discipline but thats not going to happen if we continue the way we are within our community.' Fun, come on I've been organized by you and it was anything but fun, everyone unanimously agreed they felt chastised and insulted by your debriefings. "To put this in perspective for everyone, purple Mike, whom most of you have flown with before as the base, moved himself to the intermediate group because he could not hang with the people in my group in either of the 2 suits he was flying if he wasn't the base." This again is not true Purple Mike was moved to the intermediate group for camera geeking and other nonsense that he does. I can say one thing for Purple Mike, he is a dam good wingsuit pilot that you could take some lessons from. You seem to use the word "I" a lot, as you are in love with yourself! Please stop trying to down talk the Elsinore event, you are only making yourself look bad in the eyes of other wingsuiters! And please stop calling Elsinore and telling them its a bad idea for them to have a record there because of the nearby lake the landing area is more than adequate for this event! 21. So I take it you work for free. And your time and experience is worth nothing. Alot of people think because they have a couple of wingsuit jumps they know how to instruct FFC's. Most of the time this leads to students that are under instructed, and more of a danger to themselves or other jumpers. If you could get an instructor rating in 60 seconds it would be unjust to charge, the people giving the course have to take there time to teach you, and that is what you are paying for. If anyone feels like giving up their jobs and touring the country (with no pay) let me know I have a job for you. I'm sure your point of view will change.
