  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gAzRXsc6HQ My daughter took the french pac method, a sort of AFF method, with a not linked exit earlier in the course. I wanted to protect her from the sequence above, which could possibily happen on the s/l course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gAzRXsc6HQ
  2. it seems to me that an exit from a hangstrut is better for your position given you provide a good arch like they teached you, unless you're frozen like on the you tube sequence. As a counterpart you are alone on your exit, while in Aff you have one or two instructors on your side. Besides in Aff exit height is higher what seems a little safer if you are in trouble. I am still convinced a mix of the two methods is the best way to go, s/l for low exits and self confidence in the beginning, Aff for the real freefall part later on. One negative point for s/l is, -but thats a personal conviction-, it is not made for everyone but they say that for Aff as well. Anyway skydiving is an addicting sport that is made possible thx to the work of great instructors in the sport,
  3. hello, if you don't find the link move to youtube: crazy clear and pull you're welcome and sorry I am not a pc wonder, bernie
  4. We all love skydiving but in a safe way. Following jump sequence may not occur according to my previous s/l instructor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gAzRXsc6HQ Personaly I loved the old caracter building method but for my daughter I prefered the Aff method (french version of it) simply to avoid such a sequence. But anyway I insisted she learned to jump low, simply because a complete skydiver must learn to exit low. Conclusion the ideal method is a mix of the old one and the Aff method. Your opinion is welcome because we all know we must master low exits
  5. about fear experience sl versus aff remember the level of fear is individual from one person to another but exiting low can be difficult for an aff student. If you want to experience fear learn by the french aff, they exit non assisted on level two. However I did both sl and aff it's all about getting out of perfect good airplane my friend....
  6. leslie, watch skydiving movies, item students, than search for "pac de nath". It goes about a french girl who learned to skydive like you, and had multiple violent spins. At the end she managed and was ok, it couldn't be worse than her aff, ps: tribute to the french pac instructors who could stop a spin like that....... respect bernie
  7. I think, but that only concerns me, because when I was younger I did s/l in 75 and than AFF in 94, the static line method is mentally more difficult to start especially in the first delays after the PRCP (Practice Ripcord Pull). Above all the ground is more nearby, so your exit height is much lower, which can disturb some people. But I am not an instructor, it is just personal, you should ask your instructor who is more qualified than me. Good luck in your progression,
  8. THX Sebazz 1 for your reply, like I said myself I followed AFF in empuria in 94 and it worked very well for me. My daughter recently did a Pac in Annemasse and the free exit was on jump 3, she performed very well but she's very young (21years). But as far as I know the Pac system adapts itself on the personality of the individual skydiver so in the Pac it's also possible that the instructor thinks a student may only exit free on jump six, that's the strenght of the pac. Anyway AFF - PAC - PFF (Candian progression) are great ways of learning and for me all the credit goes to the wonderfull motivation of your instructors who learned us this great sport....
  9. As a reply of what I said, and to show the education of a new skydiver, there is a Pac progression on skydiving movies (students - page 1 - Pac of Kevin at Royan). You can clearly sea of what a Pac instructor and his student are capable of doing, high regards, bernie
  10. hi there, I am bernie from belgium, my daughter will learn to skydive in annemasse, first jump need two instructros, second jump, providing number one is ok, you leave with one instructor. And if you are stable and well performing, level two or three is a solo exit, and further jumps teaches you flips, barell rolls, chute assis etc.. Of course it depends of the student but most french students are doing a fine job, look for google and put wuza.com in it and you'll find some pretty intresting dz's in france, and don't forget, have fun, that is what I'll try by doing a level one after stopping ten years but the sky is calling for me... blue sky bernie
  11. In reply what skydiverton is writing it can be explained why the jumpmasters Pac can let their students exit free the plane from the second jump on (high standards of qualification). Although tey (Jm) can do it ,not every student is ready mentally to exit free from the second jump on.... That statement is based of information given by the JM 's PAC.
  12. To the instructors USPA SKYDIVE COMMUNITY: First let me tell you that I learned by AFF in Empuria Brava under the requirements of the USPA which was a wonderful and safe way to learn with great instructors. But I was stunned when a couple of years later I took some information in France for my daughter, I could not believe it, free exit on the second jump, providing jump one with two instructors was Ok;I asked for a video and I can refer to that video, you can find it by clicking the following links: google.be than wuza (le portail parachutisme) next you look for "liens" in the right corner of the screen than you click ecole tradi/pac than www.absolute-sky.com/index than click video in the left part of the screen and than pub/ stage/pac 3.MO don't forget to install dvx. I hope you can find the demo of the pac stage and you will clearly see on the video (niveau 2 / level 2) a free exit on the back. Hereby I mention that would it be my daughter, who is learning, I have the utmost confidence in the pac as well as in the aff system that for me are both safe and that for me is the most important. Bernie
  13. To the instructors skydivingcommunity, I like to have your opinion on the french PAC system, who is similar tot AFF. In the french PAC system you have six jumps, it is not as rigid as the AFF course and is adapted to the student individual needs and progression. Besides providing jump numer one (lvel one) is OK they start jump number two with one instructor. But here is my question some shools make it standard to let the student exit early on, and that from level two on, the plane alone without the instructor holding any grips, free exit like they said. Not all shools, and not all instructors practice that way, but in some shools its standard procedure. In your opinion is a student ready to jump out of a perfectly airplane from jump two on, without instructor holding grips?? By the way some of the french instructors have a very high level and their pac rating is very difficult to obtain. Thank you for responding, Bernie
  14. Hello Remster, Just a question about the Canadian PFF, in your progression, when does the student leave the airplane for the first time unassisted by the JM? Free exit, what jump or is it also depending on the indivudual progression of each student. Thanks for your replyQuote
