  1. I was under the impression that Velos were less forgiving and that the Katana was a stepping stone to a Velo. If the Velo is a better wing, but takes the same degree of skill to fly - why doesn't everyone jump a Velo? Cuz the Ka works better with lower WL. Its a great stepping stone, but once you jump the Velo the Katana goes up for sale! BASE 1384
  2. I am out there just about every weekend. Look me up when you get here, if I am not working I will jump with ya. BASE 1384
  3. LOL. You guys are funny. If USPA tried to implement some kind of program at the beginning of the HP canopy epidemic, people would have done nothing but complain. Now they try to get out in front of a potential issue, and they are Nazi's. I love skydivers! WS is gay anyway BASE 1384
  4. I thought it was a perfectly reasonable questions. I know many base jumpers who have contemplated the very same thing including myself. Don't think Mirage would build you one of those. And what would be the point? We already have the BASER! BASE 1384
  5. That is a pretty common problem among some of the older javs. Reserve bulk distribution gets pretty important. Get with your rigger and see if he can get some bulk away from the riser covers. When I did mine, I packed the ears of the bag pretty loose, then during the closing process I used everything I had to get the bulk as low as possible. I believe mine is an 01 as well, and I have not had any problems since I packed the reserve. I did have some before. Good luck. BASE 1384
  6. We have a pretty decent amount of Jumps on Simon Drogues. They are total tanks. Last forever with very little maintenance. Simon makes some good stuff, and he is an awesome guy too. Can't go wrong! (except on the whole pin on wrong side thing, but i'm sure he will fix that!) BASE 1384
  7. Ive lost a couple of those into my base packjobs. No big deal. BASE 1384
  8. Plenty of times under katana's and velos. The secret? Do it on days with a stiff headwind! BASE 1384
  9. TI was ok, could stick the legs out more. Finish the post drouge handle check next time. Overall, not too bad. Video was pretty good i thought. He did not appear to be in the danger zone to me on opening. Landing patterns.....Yikes. OP, are we really supposed to be focusing on the Tandem? Because that near miss was much scarier to watch. Nylon Pylons BASE 1384
  10. Why havent we built a skyball with a built in go-pro yet? Can't wait, should be a great time! BASE 1384
  11. Just got the same exact email from [email protected] . Almost word for word from the OP. BASE 1384

  13. +1 Those were amazing BASE 1384
  14. I give it 3 months until you piss of a cartel lord and end up without a head on youtube! Im just glad I got my GPS back before it happens. Go big or go in! BASE 1384
  15. He better have cool shades to counteract that gigantic rig BASE 1384
  16. AerOhio.....www.jumptoday.com Not too far from Columbus BASE 1384
  17. 350' building and a skydiving rig is not a great combo. I guess I would try a rollover with the reserve (Temop 120) then do my best to not die. I would give the main to my friend and tell him its better and that he should hold on tight to the seatbelts. BASE 1384
  18. If you like the Stiletto I would keep the Stiletto. There really isn't any other alternatives that perform like that does. B. Germain had a couple designs that were similar (Vengeance ect). Get with a rigger and make him slow the openings down. (Reline, different lines, longer break lines, pocket slider, ect.) Any canopy can be made to open slower with some work! And a pilot, pulse, and x-fire are nothing like a Stiletto. It may not be a good canopy for modern swooping, but there is a reason PD is still building them after all these years. BASE 1384
  19. I have a bev suit with larks headed style swoop cords, but they are a modified kind that use a piece of webbing that my riggah made for me. Ive never had a problem with the larks head style, but then again that is all ive ever used. Also, it is the small wing so it is sewn in, not clipped in. Don't know if that makes a difference. But I do love that bev camera suit a lot, and would buy another in a heartbeat. BASE 1384
  20. ?? in length ?? or does it extend the lifetime ? Life time. Although technically if they are shrinking less due to less friction then i guess you could consider them "longer" (for the dacron lines) All I know is it makes the packing room a mess, and getting the slider back up the waxed up hma lines on the ground when the wind is trying to inflate the canopy is a real bitch. BASE 1384
  21. Our rigger waxes the lines on our tandem and student gear. He seems to think it lengthens line sets. BASE 1384
  22. Of the two, Odyessy. And of course thats because I have one and I am biased. VSE's are awesome too, can't go wrong there. BASE 1384
  23. Is it the same rigger who last packed you rig? If so it shouldn't take long, he can install the AAD and reclose the rig. If it is a different rigger, you are going to probably be on the hook for an I+R of the system, because he isn't going to put his seal on someone elses packjob. (hopefully) That will take much longer. My suggestion would be to call your rigger and ask him how long it would take. He would know better than us. BASE 1384
  24. Mine was built last month and also does not have them BASE 1384
