  1. Agreed...but when the best terrain is a 3 hour drive it used to be OK just to fart around on. Maybe they were afraid their iPhones would freeze. Yeah... Thats why I moved outta there!! BASE 1384
  2. I used to work at that ski resort. I remember several below 0 days at work too... so I agree- pussies! Granted that place isn't worth skiing even in normal temps so maybe it is for the best. BASE 1384
  3. Just moved to Denver.... the 40 degree dip mid day was pretty crazy to watch. On the plus side now I can go snowboarding this weekend which is pretty rad. BASE 1384
  4. I ain't never been there but that seems a little high of a rating for that stretch of the river, from what I've seen on videos.
  5. Class 5 rapid?? You sure you aren't in sales? BASE 1384
  6. You know... you guys had me all pumped about your west coast hockey clubs so I went to the game when San Jose came to town. I thought it may have been the Sharks minor league team that showed up I don't hear the Pen's mentioned in this thread at all..... what gives!? BASE 1384
  7. I was on that train not 12 hours prior! I thought they had that "derail" shit figured out by now. Crazy.... BASE 1384
  8. My GF surprised me with tickets to the Pen's home opener tomorrow!! Now that I have one season of hockey under my belt (never watched before moving here), I am pumped to see how this year unfolds. Lets go Pen's!!! BASE 1384
  9. Dave L and I have been talking about an Ohio head down record shot as well. We may need a few more bodies.... Any competent head down fliers in the area- make the trip!!! I think the record is 10 people. Lets make this happen!! BTW- I think the Caravan has been confirmed to be there. They may only fly as needed but it will be available. The Pilot is going to be making AFF jumps if he isn't needed! BASE 1384
  10. haha. Should have 270'd left and put more faith in the rears. he wouldn't have stood a chance BASE 1384
  11. Do you have any video of those?? I have always been a spread and kick guy, but honestly really haven't had any line twists in a LONG time (like years). Recently I have had a few openings that were pretty gnarly, including one that I chopped last weekend. I did feel like the kicking and fighting just made a bad situation worse. I have never tried to push the risers together and twist- I am interested in now in seeing how that works to get out of linetwists before the canopy lays over and things get really exciting. 1. You should have invited me out to help rack up a tab. 2. I don't even want to know how many Zima's you had to drink to complain on the internet. 3. You should have gone to the party anyway and farted on all the toothbrushes. BASE 1384

    WTH?

I happened to catch part of a UPT tandem course going on a few weeks ago, and the IE was showing some video's. He had a video of a tandem side spin under drouge. Let me see if I can get that video. BASE 1384
  14. Are you this annoying in real life too? FAST wasn't one of the jumpers in the video. Read first->angry diatribe second.
  15. If you can't do either -> There's always wingsuiting BASE 1384
  16. Yes, you´re right. The Skyflash will receive an integrated, rocket driven, parachute system - This will be build in as soon as we are finished with the hovering tests. Those tests will not be much higher than 1m (3ft) so that a parachute cwould not be necessary until then. We are, at the moment, considering which system to choose. Take a Skywalk Tequila paraglider, controlled by a Spektrum DX 7 for landing and the spare LiIon Battery from the Dreamliner, good to go for 3ft ASL. And please give us the rocket driven reserve, taking us close to the moon from a shity situation below 2kft... this thread is amazing BASE 1384
  17. I guess they were doing that for some kind of documentary. I am ready to pay top dollar for this movie just off of that clip! BASE 1384
  18. Nice to see you admit that all you have is a guess, and no proof whatsoever of a correct diagnosis. Yet you want to impose a whole new bureaucracy on us and set a precedent for USPA on account of a GUESS! So why aren't you campaigning for USPA Canopy-I and -I/E ratings? Canopy flight kills lots more skydivers than wingsuiting and you have exactly the same amount of proof that poor training is cause of the problem. It seems to me that USPA realized they missed the boat on the canopy thing. They have started now to go back and put some things into place (like a required canopy course for a B license ect.). I think they just really want to get out ahead of this before it gets equally out of control as the carnage under canopy. To me, that is a good thing. Like Twardo said, I think the USPA can handle a few different issues/programs at once. Nobody at HQ is saying "drop everything, we need to focus on wingsuits". Im sure canopy and IE issues are on the menu as well. BASE 1384
  19. Another fun fact: Chuck Yeager wasn't the first choice for the X-1 Project. Bob Hoover was supposed to have that honor, but got into some trouble doing some top gun style high speed passes! He ended up flying chase plane for Chuck during the record attempts. Hoover>Yeager BASE 1384
  20. This sounds like a horrible idea, and I can't wait to see it. At least we have AerOhio's best and brightest working on the project. BASE 1384
  21. But why not? It is really cheap insurance. (a lot cheaper than a BRS!) BASE 1384
  22. There is no way a chest strap (of any size) is taking enough of a load to bend hardware BASE 1384
