u also want to consider what your landing area is like. if it is huge wide open grass area, maybe ok. if it is filled with trees and obstructions with a changing direction, maybe not.. turbulence off of objects from wind can be nasty and keep it in mind. better to sit out one day jumping than 3 months in a wheel chair/ crutches/ boot dont let life pass you by

i wear a very similar helmet to that when i base jump, both s/d and terminal. i think u might feel some slight weird drag but it does off the best protection for the weight. u might want to borrow one and try it for a jump to make sure u are ok with the drag. dont let life pass you by

the really funny thing is they are really not spending serious money in the big picture. if you asked a professional photographer to risk his life for the shots and give the customer 100+ high res jpgs, i am damn sure it would be more than 30-40 bucks take home. I do feel the need to give DSLR quality photos, but im not going to roll with a 1D either. being a videot paid for gear, got a ton of jumps, and i had a blast. but know especially when doing 12 jumps a day, 500 to 1000 jumps per year, your neck will feel that extra weight. and so does your pocketbook when buying that high end gear. (when u forget to rachet that chin strap just one time :( ) one setup i had when i wanted to jump all three, was to put the flash on top of the video box. i used industrial velcro and a velcro strap around the box to secure it. it wasnt much higher than the still. and the flash was horiz mounted with access to the buttons. good luck with the setup. dont let life pass you by

make sure you account for your connections with a set up like that before you drill holes. how do u plan to secure the flash like that ? how often are you jumping the flash ? i have found when i am shooting specialty jumps with flash, i just ditch the video anyway. the flash spread with the vertical orientation and the horizontal camera might not be optimal. love the 580 ex II. you will love it. dont let life pass you by

pilots who have dead sticked with jumpers aboard please post how jumpers moving around impacted the flight of the plane and how it impacted the ability to keep the plane flying. I have seen a couple of posts about jumpers getting out without pic consent and curious what the diver drivers who actually have been in this situation feel.. dont let life pass you by
