  1. Went up on a jump with a buddy of mine just to get some shots and test some settings on my still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO4KQDkDUQE (Tip...it gets better after I track away!!!!)
  2. Yes, this helps alot! Off to eBay to find a replacement!!
  3. The plot thickens. A friend has a PC350 and I tried my camcorder in his docking station - still nothing. He tried his camcorder in my docking station and it worked fine! It would seem that the docking connection on my PC350 is broken - that is I can't download, however when I connect it to the docking station it will still charge and I can still video out to my TV. Has anyone else seen this? More importantly, is it work fixing - cost wise?
  4. What about Skys The Limit in East Stroudsburg, PA? That's pretty close to NYC, isn't it??
  5. TK, I'm coming down next week for a few days... Still need some Timmies??
  6. Hittin all the bases here. I thought that might be it so I used a spare. 4 pin to 6 pin for the desktop, 4 pin to 4 pin for the laptop. Same results... Thanks Douglas...
  7. I have an older TRV-11 that I know used to work with a laptop I had that was running XP Pro. I just tried the PC350 connected to the laptop - same thing. Nothing happening. I just have to dig up the battery for the TRV-11 to see if I can firewire to the Vista. If I can, it must be the cradle...
  8. Yeah, that's what I figured. I should either recognize it or complain that it doesn't know what it is. The fact is it's not doing anything. Plugged in base station, connected firewire cable, set PC350 in cradle, powered on camcorder, set to Play/Edit mode...zip, zilch, nothing... I beginning to think it's either the base station or my port on the computer. Seeing it's a used 350 and a brand new Dell XPS, I think it must be the base station... Damn
  9. PC 350 in the base station connected to a PC running Vista Before you say RTFM, I don't have the FM to R... I downloaded the USB drivers for Vista from the Sony website, but when I place the camera in the base station, and power it on, I can't get the PC to recognize the camcorder. I would expect to see Vista give the pop up that a device is connected, but I get nothing. I am using a mini USB connected to the base station and a USB connected to the PC. I also try using the firewire connection on the base station connected to the port on the PC. Still nothing. Any help? Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I'll give the rubber grommet a try. I'm breaking out the Dremmel!! Here goes nothing...
  11. That's awesome! I made a 10 minute camera helmet video as well. The only difference with mine was that it really did take 10 minutes. I just duct taped an old 8mm to an old CCM hockey helmet!!
  12. Yeah, I was thinking that too. I just didn't know what would be more 'invasive' - cutting the cables then having to splice them back together, or just cutting larger holes for the lanc connector/5d remote... Not really knowing the wiring in either cable, how many wires are inside there? 1 in each? or are there multiple wires? Thanks for the tip!
  13. Hey folks, I'm going to run the cameye and remote switch inside the helmet and drill holes to access the gear. I'm guessing it's probably best to seal up the holes again - rather than using gaffers. Any suggestions on what to use to seal up the holes? I was just thinking a silicon caulking... Any other suggestions? Thanks!
  14. I would suggest that you talk to the folks at your DZ. Your profile says your from the Ranch. There are tons of camera flyers up there. Maybe even start by talking to Sonic up in the Pro Shop. He was great in giving me advice and tips on good setups.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate all the input I can get!!
  16. Seeing that it's getting harder and harder to find the pc style camcorders, I'm resorting to searching through ebay to find something suitable. I've got me eye on a 'gently used' pc-330. I'm trying to decide to bid on it or wait until a pc-1000 comes along. I'm pretty limited to a sidemount video as my still takes up the top of my OI. Do any of you have a preferece between the 330 or the 1000? Thanks!!
  17. I wish...call it a very expense hobby!! Thanks for the photo Matt. I was thinking something like that. Nice and compact. What did you use to round out the edges of the extender/ring sight post?
  18. Hi folks, First of all, here's a newbie question for you... Is anyone use a ring sight for photo only?? I'm not interested in mounting video at this point. I have a 5d with 20mm lens. If it is recommended, where best to mount the righ sight extender?? I've seen all sorts of set ups (to th side, over the eye, right between the eyes...). If you have the illusion, i'd be interested in your opinions on where best to mount it. Thanks! Paul
  19. Well, if you're willing to travel, come on up to Mile High Parachuting near Ottawa. We've got enough Lightnings and Triathalon's to probably crack the Canadian record!!
  20. Are the metal support/protective frames custom made? Or are there any suppliers out there? Thanks!
  21. You may want to try looking at kayak helmets. I have one and it is excellent. Much cheaper than skydiving helmets as well.
  22. Thanks Stratostar, Yeah, I saw those as well. One was a seller from Japan - the other from South Korea. I'd prefer something a bit closer to home.
  23. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a refurb/used pc1000? There's nothing on ebay and I've had no luck checking the main seller sites. Thanks!
  24. Wait, that doesn't sound right... I follow the bonehead instructions (just heat the ear and chin liner), but I see no difference at all. Does anyone have any tips? I've done it twice now and it fits the same as it did when I bought it. Not that it fits bad, but I just want it to fit better. Thanks!
  25. Actually they are not interested in publicity, but they will sure take it where they can get it. Their shtick is pretty simple. Plan a protest that will offend everyone - try and get the local authorities to ban or break up their protest then they sue. That is how they are funded. That is their sole reason for existence. They piss people off, the people react and the Phelps family sues them. He's been doing this game for decades now.
