  1. It's definitely easy to blame other factors. Maybe you should look within to see where the real problems lie. I think you need to start with #15. With him relegated to the 3rd line and the 2nd line power play, the bitching and moaning and crying will begin shortly... He did it in Ottawa, he'll do it in SJ. 7M a year gets you 3 playoff goals - and 1 in the last 11 games. brutal...
  2. My lawyer and I participated in a nationally syndicated radio program this morning. If you'd like to understand the jurisdictional limitations place upon the federal court by Congress, feel free to listen to it. (The program starts about 5 minutes in, following the news). The file is attached and should work with Windows Media Pplayer. "I'm a bit of a push back kinda person....." That's good stuff right there!
  3. One thing is for sure, last years and this years playoffs have shown that there's no such thing as a sure thing... That Bruins/Bolts game last night was pretty good. Chara was a machine. What did Lecavalier get? 5 shots on goal? If Chara is on the ice each time that top line from Tampa is out there, they are going to have to rely on their second and third line a lot for scoring. Chara wasn't great in the previous game. Seindenberg was probably worse. But Chara has this ability to evaluate what he's doing wrong and elevate his game. I'm glad Julien is not listening to the idiot commentators. Putting Seguin out at every chance is fine when you have a 4 goal lead. He wasn't playing on the power play as much yesterday in a tight scoring game. If they keep getting the coaching and the play out of their top 2 offence and defensive lines, they might be hard to beat...
  4. Admittedly, it brought a tear to my eye... But probably caused by very different emotions.
  5. There was many disturbing and unsettling things about the election results last night. This has to be the most disturbing...by far. (SFW, but all bets are off on how quickly dinner comes back up...)
  6. EXACTLY what I was thinking....
  7. Like I said in another post, I'm just glad that we only have to put up with a few weeks of this garbage - instead of months or years... My take: Conservative majority. Significant. Along the lines of the first Mulroney win. Liberals will still be the Official Opposition. Iggy will have to step down. Thank Christ. He is the only reason why the Liberals can't win this election. Bloc will fall dramatically - due to a swing vote to NDP. NDP will make significant gains in their seat numbers. Also, you do know that the Liberals can't "seize power", right? If the Conservatives win a minority, they will be the governing party until they lose confidence of parliament (until they lose the first vote in the House that is deemed a vote of confidence). Only then can the Official Opposition approach the Governor General and ask to form the government. There is no power grab, or seizing of power. The GG can deny the request and dissolve parliament which will result in another election. I know this'll sound strange, but I think it is in our national interest to see a Conservative majority. I think we need the political stability at this time. I would like to see what the Conservatives can do with a full mandate and a majority of seats. We have some difficult years ahead with trying to get the deficit under control. The Conservatives are targeting 2015 to balance the budget. They will have to make significant cuts - including defence to achieve that goal. We'll see about corruption and arrogance. The last sitting Conservative Prime Minister knowingly took bribes (and openly admitted it), introduced a 7% national tax and basically thumbed his nose at the entire population of Canada west of Ontario because he knew he didn't need them to win a majority. He also had the worst approval ratings of any prime minister in history and single handedly imploded the Progressive Conservative Party. Let's see how well Harper does. My guess is that his term and his government will be filled with as many scandals and embarrassments as any other ruling government has had.
  8. Will be interesting to see who Edmonton picks in the Entry Draft. They just won the draft lottery. 2nd year in a row they have 1st pick. As for the MTL/BOS series, I know there's lot of bad blood between the 2 teams, but I think Montreal has to play a disciplined game. They can't afford too many penalty kills. They'll need as much 5 on 5 time they can get to try and get pucks past Thomas. He could be the real story of the playoffs... And let's face it. It's playoff hockey. Fights really drop off at this point - but as I recall, there were still a few in last years playoffs. Finally, who the hell wants to go toe-to-toe with Chara? The man is a beast. Seeing my team is out, I'll be cheering for the only 2 Canadian teams in the Playoffs. C'mon guys. PLEASE. Either of you - win the cup...It's been so long since a Canadian team won. I can't even remember the year. All I know is that it was 2 ex-wifes ago...
  9. And a lot like Boston before the lockout. What is boils down to is ownership seeing their stands full every night and serious $ for local TV rights (especially Toronto and Montreal). Ownership says "why the hell do we need to bust our balls with high quality management/staff/scouts/coaching/players when I'm sold out?" The Leafs haven't made the playoffs since the lockout and haven't made the Stanley Cup Finals in 40 years. Yet they are the highest valued franchise. Here's a tip Toronto fans. Stop going to the games. Watch how quickly Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment changes their tune and gets their act together. Here's another tip. Sit Scotty Bowman down in a room and write down everything he says and do it. Or find a way to clone him. 12 Stanley Cup rings... Even with my team out (Ottawa), I can't wait for the playoffs to start. God, I love this game!!
  10. "I feel a great disturbance in the Force Centre of the Universe (tm), as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced." Fifth year in a row, Toronto is not in the playoffs... Oh well, they'll get a nice high draft pic.....wait, no. They gave that to Boston. Miss the playoffs - first round pick is around 19th. Yikes. Why they haven't run Burke out of town over that deal is beyond me.
  11. :) OK, I'm not being serious John... BUT, what if he was Lots of seats in Ontario...lots of seats in Quebec....lots of seats in Eastern Canada. And as plenty of 70s and 80s elections showed us, that's all that's needed for a majority in this country. I don't think he'd want it. His first leadership run was a bit of a dud. And the 2nd never got off the ground after Iggy was appointed with no opposition. I think he saw the real politics within the party itself and it left a bad taste in his mouth. Yet, 9 years in the league...6 Stanley Cups...
  12. True. But at least our run-ups don't last 2+ years. Christ, can you imagine these morons babbling on and on for 2 yrs? 5 week election and it's over. Wohoo!! So what do you think? Another Conservative minority? It will be interesting, but I don't think they can get enough seats for a majority. Here's what I'd like to see happen. I think it'll be another Conservative minority. If that's the case, I think Iggy and Stewy have to resign. It's obvious that neither party will win a majority with them as leaders. Maybe Jim Flaherty as Conservative leader? Maybe this guy as Liberal leader?
  13. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "carbon trading" system... At the end of the day, if you calculate up the total CO2 emissions expected for the entire campaign for all the parties, it totals up to less than $100,000.00 If people are getting their panties in a bunch about $100,000.00 being used to offset (or not offset) CO2 emissions, they need to spend their time in a more constructive way. I'm more pissed that they make all the grand claims about offsetting CO2, then they use the taxpayer money given to the parties to pay for the offsets. Time to do away with federal funding for the political parties. Harper, Ignatieff, Layton...want to impress me? Pay for these offsets out of your own pay. Or at least commit that it will be funded by the party and not with taxpayer money.
  14. I just don't see where the CBC is engineering anything... Sure the article mentions that the Conservatives are opting out, but that's really about it... No ridiculous quotes from the environmentalists... In the linked news report, they don't even mention until the end that the Conservatives are opting out. Even then, not really much of a reaction. They are making more of a point of the calculated CO2 emissions so far on the campaign. Oh, and please, PLEASE don't refer to the fucking morons who post on the CBC Comments section as being anything but simpleton douchebags. These people give 'thumbs down' to comments expressing condolences in a related article about a family being killed in a bus crash. CBC should do away with the comments. Edited: due to crappy grammar
  15. One of your *leadership* left Canada. Find an example of that in the US. Danny Williams decision to travel to Cedars-Sinai had nothing to do with socialized medicine in Canada. It was for a procedure that is in clinical trials in North America. He could have easily had the valve replaced in St. John's (where he lived at the time), but he was a good candidate for the trial so he decided to proceed with the percutaneous aortic valve replacement. Again, this had nothing to do with waiting lists, inferior care or anything like that.
  16. Hey Rich. What do you think about getting Kovalev back?
  17. Sounds like they aren't going to protest. Two radio stations offered them airtime in exchange for not going ahead with the protest at the child's funeral. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2011/01/12/tucson-funeral-westboro-baptist.html
  18. Do you blame the baseball when your young son throws it though a window, too? No, they're the unfortunate and inevitable by-product of people who think it is ok to kill someone. I don't blame guns. Never have. Really? I must have missed the multiple references to murderers in your post instead of guns - can you point them out to me? Ah, the kallend school of thought - is there a 'baseball problem' when your window gets broken out, or it is a problem with vandals? Maybe you can run down for us all the gun laws that criminals are *currently* abiding by, first. OK. Let me ask this. Is there a problem today with criminals being able to legally purchase firearms?
  19. Do you blame the baseball when your young son throws it though a window, too? No, they're the unfortunate and inevitable by-product of people who think it is ok to kill someone. I don't blame guns. Never have. So I guess there really is no answer as there really isn't a problem. If you aren't willing to restrict the individual from buying a gun (anymore than they are restricted now) and you aren't willing to restrict the guns themselves, then the situation remains status quo, is that right?
  20. So if the answer isn't registration, and it's not limiting access to guns, and it's not limiting the number of guns, and it's not limiting the types of guns, does that really mean there is no answer? Are these deaths just an unfortunate (and inevitable) by-product of the right for Americans to own guns?
  21. It was the Saudis. To his credit, the bird refused to talk. Even after they showed the brutal video of what they did to his kids, he didn't crack...
  22. Of course I DID NOT THINK Liberals were actually serious in their calls for a Harper assassination. It was merely an example of stupid Liberal humor and an example for Leftists here to ponder that they can not claim the high ground today. Tell me did you think posting a picture of their opponent being assassinated on their official political party website funny? Hopefully the answer was no, hopefully if/when you heard about such nonsense being displayed it made you stop and ask yourself "who exactly are these people who work down at the Liberal Party of Canada" (a political organization that does not even practice democracy inside of it's own organization when it comes to picking their leader and their riding candidates). Actually, I didn't ask myself anything - and I, like the authour of the CFP article you quoted DID think it was funny. In many cases I agree with the authour that they acted like douche bags in trying to deflect the blame. If they had just admitted that they ran the photo after someone has submitted it as part of a contest - admitted that it was a huge lack in judgement on the part of the Liberal Party and left it at that, I'd be fine with that. But in their typical political blame game, they were too weak to even do that. Let's not get into what the Liberal Party does or doesn't do in terms in inside politics. Remember, we have a Prime Minister who forbids his federal ministers from speaking a word unless it passes through his office first. When one office and a very small group of people (very, very small) control the message of our entire government, that makes me a little more uneasy than how a party elects its leaders... Understand (and I think I've said this to you before), I hold them all in the same regard. I will defend them when they are acting in our interests and being just, I condemn them when they do otherwise.
  23. The Liberal Party of Canada thought it was funny when they posted a spoofed assassination picture of PM Stephen Harper on their official website in December of 2009. It was only after the outrage surfaced from the general public that they pulled it down and then went on to say "the picture does not represent our views". But one has to ask, if a spoofed assassination picture of their political opponent does not represent the views of the Liberal Party of Canada, WTF was it doing on their official website? http://www.canada.com/news/Liberals+apologize+photo+showing+Harper+being+assassinated/2342953/story.html Oh but the desire to see Harper murdered is not only on the minds of some Liberals. Take a look at what this guy wrote. http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/7474/harperbullet1vj9.jpg Of course there is no reference to any political party in this guys rant, so I can't blame the Liberals here. But I think it is safe to say that this fellow is NOT a fan of PM Harper and would be very happy to see the PM assassinated. If you think that the Liberal Party of Canada was actually trying to incite or advocate the assassination of the PM, then you really are not better than the morons on here and all over the net today who think that Sarah Palin was advocating or is responsible for the attack yesterday...
  24. The left was waiting for this? What a pathetic statement. More or less so than doughboyshred's following post and statement? That's right. Let's make sure we defend the one comment instead of condemning the both. Both comments are asinine. ---edited for emphasis---
  25. I am glad you recognize this guy as a loony. Personally I don't think enough is known about him yet to say exactly what his motives were (as of yesterday, he was not talking). On his YouTube channel he did voice displeasure with the current US government and that was all the CBC needed up here in Canada to tell all their loyal lemmings that he is a Tea Bagger acting on commands from Sarah Palin all because of her website. But the CBC has never been known to be an ethical media source. The CBC has an agenda and they will do everything in their power to pursue this agenda. Of course the CBC is irrelevant in the USA ... but no doubt people will be looking for any way to associate this disturbed individual to their political opponents. People should wait for the hard evidence to surface that he was actually associated with this group or that group before they assume that he was. After all, we should all know the saying "Don't assume anything otherwise you risk making an ASS out of U and ME". Sorry, I didn't get the part where CBC said he was a tea bagger. Can you provide the link?
