  2. and of course the duet they did with Cliff Richard... "Living Doll".. anyone else remember that? *rotfl*
  3. thats funny i don't remember ramming a skewer into my head!
  4. mm.. newbie that i am.. 2 jumps! AFF stage 2 and 3! woo hoo! interesting jumps.. fluffed the exit on the first and missed 4000 pull (pulled at 3500, a no no for students), then had line twists.. next jump was better, but landing was terrible.. on my ass on my face, back onto my ass and then dragged across the ground. a second canopy ride! (but horizontal!)
  5. mmm defining it.. id say a cocky asshole type guy is someone who is too overconfident, they think that they are gods gifts and assume that they can get whatever they want, when they want and they dont have to behave well to get it. well not for long anyway lol. they usually dont have alot of respect for a person, and will mow down anything/anyone in their way to get what they want. And of course once they have conquered.. its off to the next challenge.. someone whom is confident and flirty.. but yet respectful.. yes thats attractive. someone who is overconfident in the way i have defined above.. defintely not.. well not to me anyway.. perhaps to someone who is terribly insecure, in which case id day they have some issues to work on themselves.. its not the fault of the cocky one!
  6. so.. if we are eating the rabbit.. that ate the poo... gawd..
  7. *grins* we have a young guy at our DZ who is particularly cocky when it comes to women, especially newbies.... i heard recently that he was debating as to wether to put the hard word on me or not.. not a questions of wether i would say yes or not, but wether he should ask lol and assuming i will say yes! (not sure WHERE he got this idea from, sure i can be flirty, but most people understand the flirting game). PLUS he knows im engaged.. so obviously hes happy to cut someone elses lunch.. i thought he was a decent sorta guy until i heard all of this.. now im not sure what to think. anyhoo.. ive teamed up with a sweet nice guy from the same DZ and with some well planted rumours.. we will bring him down a peg or two *grins* evil..? yes.. fun? even more so! and i agree with the posts in here.. dont change yourself for anyone, you shouldnt have to.. your soulmate will love you for whom you are (evil or not lol). Might take a while to find them.. you might have to take risks and get hurt along the way.. but its worth the waiting and the hurt once you get it... Be yourself.. is all that you can do. Cheers FW
  8. Hey Dances! Cheers for the welcome.. I havent met anyone up there named Ossie in the few weeks i been around.. you could try emailing Don and Lou at Nagambie, email is on their site www.skydivenagambie.com and ask them. An update on my AFF.. completed stage 2 and 3 on the weekend.. both jumps on saturday, no jumps on sunday due to cloud and a hangover Did ok on the jumps, was my first time jumping out of a Cessna.. (strut exit) fluffed the exit on the first one - hotel checks, up down and promptly forgot to let go, my JMs dragged me off the wing much to their amusement! Rattled by the bad exit, i wasnt very height aware and ended up dumping at 3500 (instead of 4000).. but landing was great (under TA), on my feet this time! Second jump was better, exit was perfect, was height aware.. just spewing i didnt get to do any turns. Ran out of time, only 35 seconds of freefall as we exit at 10000 out of the Cessna. Landing was interesting, the wind had picked up and i flared a little early, stopped in mid air still 3 feet off the ground! Hit the deck, on my a*ss.. on my face.. again on my a*ss.. then the wind grabbed the chute before i had time to pull in the toggle and i had a second canopy ride, horizontally this time! No serious injuries, just bruising, got my suit and rig very dirty.. and provided the DZ entertainment for the day! Self medicated myself saturday night with a few beers.. today feeling happy but like i have been hit by a truck lol Stage 4 and 5 next weekend, and packing lessons! its all happening! Have a stunning day people. FW
  9. hey that would be awesome! you can come watch me land on my a*ss... lol

  12. *sighs* im happy to read anything at this stage of the day.. im at work.. supposed to be working, but the brain isnt engaged.. all i can think about is the weekend (stage 2 AFF!) you people are saving me from myself..
  13. lol aerorgasm.. which license level covers that? *winks*
  14. mm.. interesting view.. i guess it depends on your experiences.. Intrusive.. ? perhaps, but could save a lot of people from being infected. What is the priority here? The majority of positive people, once diagnosed, take a hell of a long time before they are capable of having sexual intercourse again (if at all), they are constantly freaked out about passing it on, its a huge mental f**k up. Yes there are some that still continue to play dangerous games, but from my personal experience, they are a minority. Most people consider that they have had a major kick in the pants, they wouldnt wish it on their worst enemy so.. risky activity tends to stop. From what i have seen.. and the people that i know, diagnosis has meant that the virus pretty much stops with them. And a final thought as to the the blood test being intrusive...youd only have to worry if it came back positive, and when that result comes in.. youd have a whole lot more important stuff to think about, survival, the future. Government intrusion would be the last thing on your mind... cheers
  15. *wades into the debate* Hi Guys. New to this site, new to skydiving.. new to alotta things in life just lately... including HIV. Been reading older posts on here.. great to see the topic of HIV being discussed openly. Nice to see also that you guys are quite up to speed with your info.. this tells me that the education process is working to a point. However, as has been pointed out, and as with alot of things, the awareness is there in society, but the behaviour change isnt quite. HIV testing as part of standard testing? Absolutely. As educated and smart as most people are, we still make mistakes for some reason or other. In Australia, heterosexual infections are alarmingly on the rise, particularly in young men and women. Many are in long term relationships and are being infected by cheating partners who did not know that they had contracted the virus. These people didnt think to be tested, because dont see themselves as high risk, as to this day people are still recieving messages that it is a disease of the Gay and IV Drug community! Plus there is the "i only slept with one person" or "i only did it once" "how could i be high risk?". Their unknowing partner wouldnt think of being tested, because as far as they are aware, they are in a manogamous relationship! Sadly, only some of these people find out during sero-conversion (when a person becomes ill just after infection - body's response to the virus). This is a process in itself, as the HIV test is not standard and is only undertaken if you are "high risk" or as a last resort for the doctors trying to work out what is wrong with this sick person. However, many infected people do not become ill with seroconversion.. and so continue on not knowing that they have the virus. I feel that standard testing would slow the rate of infection, especially amongst the rising cases such as outlined above. Counselling is also an absoluate must after testing. Im unsure how the privacy issues would be tackled with.. but there must be a way around it. I personally dont particularly consider HIV infection to be a private issue for a person if you plan on having intercourse with someone. It then becomes both of your problems.. etc etc.. I feel that disclosure should be encouraged, to banish the stigma and personal attacks HIV+ people suffer. In my experience, more talking about it.. leads to education.. leads to behaviour change when people realise that they too could be at risk. There is a need for a change in HIV education, to get away from the "scare tactics" of recent years.. and into some real case study based stories. There is aso a need for increased participation in support groups. As treatments for the virus have progressed, with new antiviral meds etc, HIV is no longer the "death sentence" that it was 20 years ago.. HIV+ people are living longer and with a better quality of life. As good news as this is for the HIV community, it has had an impact on support and advocacy groups. HIV+ people no longer feel in need of support (as compared to 10-15 years ago) and participation in these groups has somewhat dropped.. Having said all of that, i do agree that education alone isnt going to prevent new infections. In NSW, there are laws in place that make it a criminal offence to have intercourse with someone without disclosing your status. As on the right track as this is.. again, this only works for the people that are aware of their status. Education, banishing the stigma, combined with standards testing and legislation.. i feel could greatly slow the rate of infection. Keep up the excellent debate.. its all part of the education process. And if you want some reading on how HIV has impacted 4 womens lives.. clicky on www.positivewomen.org.au/content/view/21/53/ Well i best leave it there.. i didnt intend my first post here to be quite so long. lol apologies for bleeding eyeballs. Freethefly.. huge cheers and hugs to you. Drop me a PM sometime.. FW

  18. cheers Peej! lol and i meant.. hello FROM Australia.. lol lol (im in melbourne lol)
  19. Hey to all from Australia.. another newbie to add to the collection! I did my first Tandem Feb 06 and LOVED it! To be able to fly man... awesome stuff and very addictive! Managed to get details of my tandem master and persecuted him with lots of questions! I then decided i wanted to take it further.. so booked in a second tandem (just to be sure) and had an absolute ball! I then booked AFF and started training first week of May (first jump was was rained out-arggg!). The next weekend however managed to get in Stage 1 AFF! Woo hoo! Wow what an experience, ill never forget it and im so keen to do my next jump! The freefall was amazing.. and being in control under canopy.. ive never felt so free in all my life! Stage 2 was planned for the next day, but alas too much low cloud! Heading to the DZ this weekend, hoping the weather will be nice to me, and totally looking forward to it! So just saying hello.. and compliments on this website. Ive been doing a HUGE amount of reading since i booked in my AFF, lots of goodies here (even the fatality files are somewhat interesting = learning from others mistakes). Have read a few posts about the "student waiting". Whilst a little frustrating, i find that the time spent at the DZ is hugely rewarding even when grounded due to conditions not suitable for students. Not being shy *grins* i have been spending entire weekends at the DZ, getting to know people (and getting known myself) and after only a few weekends, am pretty much furniture lol. Its a great time to ask the perceived "silly" questions, watch lots of chute packing, watch other training going on, watch videos of others jumps, read literature etc etc. And talk talk talk to people. I give huge credit to the regulars at Nagambie, they have made me feel at home and have been happy to answer all my questions and are always up for a chat (and a beer *grins*). I received so much encouragement before my AFF 1.. and alot of congrats afterwards! It made the experience all the more enjoyable.. I also highly recommend (depending on wether your DZ allows or not), going for a ride in the if as a student you cant jump. It was hugely interesting to watch all of the exits (without the pressure of focusing on what you will soon be doing), and experiencing the plane coming down after the last jumper has exited.. wow man! The Gs!!!! Also gives an appreciation of the pilots job (cheers Terry!). Anyhoo best leave it there.. keep up the good work dropzone.com! Cheers
