  1. Did I miss a retraction by the original poster, or is the original poster wrong?

I feel like I am missing something here, if this is wrong:

visited a dropzone the other day (shall remain undesclosed) and was rarther surprised to find that they were charging full price for altitudes of around 5-6k to tandem students. On seeing one of their videos i heard it mentioned that they would be going to 'around 10k' however they didn't appear to even get 10sec of freefall, i think i counted around 8...

then I apologise and I will shut my yap. I don't care where the toss the meat out, as long as it is on the up and up. B|

  2. Goals:
Stay alive with only minor scrapes and bruses.
    Have fun.
    Learn.

    Specifically I want to:
-Get at least 150 jumps in 2007.
    -Learn to freefly.
    -Improve my RW work.
-Improve my accuracy with my canopy until I can land on a dime.

First, you've jumped to a conclusion that the tandem students are being cheated, without knowing all the facts.

Second, your extrapolation of concern from that tandem exit altitude to other serious matters goes way too far to be automatically justified.

I am going by the testimony of the above poster. Since there isn't an actual dropzone listed I am considering this a hypothetical situation.

The poster says the tandems are being told one altitude, and being dumped short of that. Even if it is for saftey, clouds above, the student should be informed. If they aren't then they are being cheated and managment is unethical in my book.

Shit rolls down hill. People who act unethically in one area, will do so in another. Why do you think public accountants do such stringent background checks of managment in the post enron era? If managment has poor ethics and judgement in one part of their life, then they tend to act the same way when running their company.

  4. That isn't a drop zone I would jump at. If they cheat a tandem student, what else are they cheating on. Are they slacking when handling aircraft maintanence, the credit on my account, the pack jobs their rigger does???

  5. This has come up in conversation recently over a couple of beers. I completely respect the view point that is can be dangerously distracting.

Isn't it possible to fly a small camera without letting it take over your dive?

If you don't have a cam sight, you turn it on for the whole dive, and fly your normal slot then is it a huge difference? You should be keeping eye contact on the other people in the sky already.

I just wanted to play devils advocate, I don't plan on running out and getting a camera any time soon. :)

  6. Linkie no clickie.

I allways thought of it as a bull and rodeo rider, because of a video I saw on skydiving movies. The rodeo was anything but stable in the video, and it looked like bullriding. :D

Corey, just blaim it on Fish. Thats what I do when ever my dives go to shit, even if he isn't at the DZ that day. :P

  7. Does any one have any tips for a successful linked exit for a pair of rodeos.

We tried exiting like a tandem, both bulls sitting on the floor, and the riders pushing us out while we held grips. That really put the fun in funnel.

Once both pairs let go we were stable in no time. :D

I think rodeo RW would be a freaking blast if we could pull it off. :o

  8. I will try that this weekend. This may seem like a stupid question, but how do you keep your rolls from coming undone if there is only one or two. When I don't roll the tail much it tends to come undone especially where it is wrapped around the slider.

  9. That is a great idea, recently it has been hard arm more than it used to be. How exactly would I go about that?

There is some pilot chute hesitation on clear and pulls, but I allways attributed that to the shorter bridle on the Icon containers and being subterminal.

Also is it possible to upsize the pilot chute slightly? I know to large of a pilot chute leads to bag strip and line dump, but if the lines are properly retained it might speed up my deployment some.

  10. I was hoping I could get some tips to try and speed up the opening on my Pilot 168. It has about 180 jumps on it, and the line appear to be in trim, but I haven't measured them.

It has been sniveling 800 feet easy. If I pitch at 3k I end up in the saddle just above 2k. I love how the openings feel, but lately I have been thinking that I would be happy to sacrifice some comfort for a shorter opening range.

I am propacking it... with the slider quartered evenly between the front, back, left, and right.

I don't push the nose into the pack job when I let go of it with my knees. I have tried actually exposing the nose a little more without much luck.

It is a tight fit in its bag, so I have to roll tail a good deal to help keep it under control. It opens on heading every time, unless I struggle a little with bagging it.

The pilot chute is the stock aerodyne one.

    Thanks for any tips! :D

  11. We are going to be bringing three or four teams this year. A four way team, two way vrw, and a two way rw team.

    www.uconnskydiving.com

Actually we are looking for another person to complete the fourth 2way belly team who is from New England, and eligible to compete.

Our school gave us a lot of support so I think we are going to enter in every event possible. :D
