  1. What device shoots 1080i to an SD card and holds 7 mins of vid?
  2. Gee whiz, Mykel, I think you're a good person. I've seen your video work, and it's the work of a gifted, talented person. Bad people aren't often talented and gifted. Bad people spend their time judging us but claiming they aren't judging, they're just pointing out our weaknesses with hopes that we'll do better. Wow, the section on comparing your love for God to love for your family being hatred for your family if you love God first...So according to the test, we're supposed to love God but hate our family if they're not loving God. That's the first tenet of Hitler's dogma. (Kirke/Church) Hmm...I've also used the name of God in vain. I've been extremely angry, and apparently being extremely angry is equal to actual murder, according to the test. So in my heart, I've killed my exwife at least half a dozen times. If being really angry is the same as actually performing the murder, damn...I should just do it. I've looked at women with lust. That picture of Nightengale just does something to me. I shoplifted a coupla times when I was a kid, and God doesn't forget (as the test continually reminds you). I've even told one lie in my entire life, and according to the test, I'm a liar, same as if I lied constantly and consistently. I have coveted. I especially would like to own my dear friend's OCC motorcycle (no, it's not one from the show). According to the test, I've really pissed God off, and I'm probably going to hell, because just as "I wouldn't turn my blind eye towards a guilty rapist," neither shall God turn a blind eye to my actions. Goddamn it, I'm f$#!ed. According to the test, I'm going to hell. See ya there! PS, you *really* should listen to the seminar Pajarito posted. If nothing else, you'll bust a gut over the self-importance the speaker lends to himself. Talk about condescending! Dayum!!
  3. Yeah, huh? I've been a keynote at IBC for four years running. Been there. No, there has been NO release of either of these camcorders in Europe, unless you know something Miyo Kobayashi doesn't know, and he's the international product manager. Cel Vargas is the EU product manager, and he also wondered where anyone had seen these two camcorders outside of the CES show. Of the 5 HC5's that are here, two are empty shells for show. I believe you're thinking of another camcorder model.
  4. Even Christ apparently warned people against having blind faith. I understand that your fear of research is related to your concern of having your beliefs damaged, but is faith worth having if your faith is based on misinformation?
  5. no one in Europe already has the HC5 or 7. What makes you think they do? they were only announced internationally, yesterday. Sony only has 3 prototypes of each in the US, and 2 in EU, plus a smattering around the rest of the globe.
  6. Oh, I see. I thought he meant "red letter" words from the Bible. DSE, were you referring to prophets, popes and preachers? If so, I agree whole heartedly. Too much has been attributed toJC in the name of power, prestige and popularity. Nope. I'm referring to the added words in the bible. In another thread, I provided several links both Christian and non-Christian, that clearly show new additions to the Bible. Some are attributed to Jesus, although the words attributed didn't show up until 500 years following his death. By way of example: For I say to you, Until the heavens and the earth pass away, in no way shall pass away one iota or one point from the Law, until all things come to pass.'- -Matthew 5:18 Attributed to Christ, but never spoken by Christ according to several biblical researchers. The apologists suggest "This is what Christ *meant* to say." With literally hundreds of versions of the bible since the origins of the various books, and the significant additions and edits to the books later compiled as what is now known as the Bible, how can anyone have any accurate idea of what was done or said at the time? Not only is it illogical, it's impossible. I'm sure faith has an excuse, however. [edit to add] I don't know what "red-letter words" are, the bible in my hotel room doesn't have red letters anywhere in it. It's a King James bible, FWIW.
  7. Wasn't suggesting Jesus should shut his trap, but rather Chuteless. I think Jesus has been given enough credit for words he never spoke.
  8. Gotcha. During capture, you have some options, but: ~Capturing as AVI format is a direct file transfer to the computer, with no changes to the file from what is on the tape. ~Capturing as AVI allows your NLE to run at optimal speed, using the CPU and vid card to their least number of cycles. ~capturing as MPEG 2 re-compresses already compressed information, causing loss and effectively rendering the file to a significantly lower quality that can be edited, but not well. ~Editing MPEG 2 utilizes a maximum number of CPU cycles, as the heavily compressed media needs to be decoded during the editing stage. MPEG 2 for the most part, is intended as a delivery vehicle, not an editing/production vehicle.
  9. What camera do you have that gives you a choice? Or are you changing format at capture? AVI (on a PC) is the standard file format.
  10. Some notables... - manual shutter speed adjustment - focal lengths and shutter speed rates are numerically given - no aperture control (no surprise) - manual adjustment of audio levels via the touch screen - running histogram while shooting - 'guide frame' checkerboard lines for framing - external buttons kept to a minimum - extremely deep battery slot Someone asked about what being able to use DV tapes meant...it means you can *play* or *capture* your older tapes. It's market-speak for "your DV tapes work in this camcorder too." No, you shouldn't reuse/re-record over old tape.
  11. Fixed it for you. You're welcome
  12. Not even close to accurately recorded. The King James version is the result of a government-ordered version to restore peace amongst those that were fighting as to which version of the bible was "right." http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_bibl.htm http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/kjverror.html http://www.victorious.org/translat.htm http://www.freethoughtdebater.com/tenbiblecontradictions.htm http://www.freethoughtdebater.com/bibleaccuracy.htm http://www.bible-researcher.com/luther02.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale http://www.dtl.org/links/christian/versions.htm http://www.aloha.net/~mikesch/banned.htm Maybe God just changed his mind a lot about what he wanted to say over the past 2000 years? Even the oft-quoted King James version has undergone nearly 1000 error corrections since 1611 (wasn't aware of the number until doing a bit of reading tonight, thanks for the inspiration, I'm now better armed when people claim the KJV is the *only* correct version). Prior to Tyndale's translation, the Bishop's Bible had undergone 20 different translative changes and hundreds of "error" corrections. At one point in time, the bible was undergoing so many changes that it was illegal to own one during the reign of Innocent III. He claimed it was because folks just weren't smart enough to "get it." Either the history was recorded correctly and bastardized right up until recent times, or it was recorded poorly past the point of ridicule and God has been "guiding" various translators of the books ever since. Or a mixture of both follies. Jesus didn't follow through on his promise that what you're reading is accurate. Or maybe, like so many hundreds of new words added to the bible, most of them prolific and assigned to Jesus' mouth, perhaps his "assurance" was added to assuage those that wonder if the translations and writings were accurate. Can you still believe that Jesus assured it would be recorded correctly and that his assurance meant squat?
  13. [edited];Billvon answered it mo betta'. Maybe not what you read, but for whatever reasons, Aryans, fundamentalists, and those with an agenda that needs biblical support do read it that way. Additionally, you've not ever read one literal word of Jesus. Ever. What you have read are books written by others after his death, all of which are recounts of oral histories. Second hand information is always open to interpretation; they're not quotes. Take an example of how Steveorino took my own words and bastardized them for his own use. If a mere layman can get away with such, imagine how easy it is for the most powerful man on the planet to do so. Bush believed there were WMD's, too. How many have died for that particular "oops?" ...did God elect George Bush so God could rain bombs on the Muslims in Bush's name? I believe that's a fair question for God. "Why did you vote for Dubya?
  14. Until you get your own rig or a good rental, you might try oven mitts.
  15. The jump altitude cannot go lower and be legal. Hence the reason for the 2.1K, to assure that Jay had dumped before 2K. The medical grounding was very short, less than 5 minutes, so that would account for 3 jumps or so. The "getting lost" on jump 599 was a much bigger deal, costing several jumps. Helicopters might get to altitude faster, but can't come down nearly as fast, and having 3 helos in the air is 3 times the risk to the a/c and the jumper, yeah?
  16. The HC5 does have an LANC, so does the HC7, the HC5 has no mic input, the HC7 does. both are identical form factors; they're exceptionally similar to the HC3. Biggest difference that skydivers should love, is that the HC7 takes 4.6 MP and the HC5 takes 2.1MP stills, both can take stills while rolling tape. The stills from the HC7 look very good. I'm being given a cam for a week following CES, I'll be taking the HC7 for a spin. Another major change is battery life; the new HC's outlast the HC3 by double. Both have the updated ClearVid sensor, and they're larger than the HC3, plus the x.v color system, which allows for significantly greater saturation. I don't know if this feature is of benefit or not; doesn't seem initially to be much to get excited about. the new JVC cams aren't all that exciting, and they can't be jumped anyway. the Panasonic cams aren't exciting me at all. I put one on my FTP on the show floor and simulated opening shock, and the image fell apart. Canon has nothing new in cams, as previously mentioned. There are a few other cams here, but nothing of note. I'll make a better report tomorrow, I only had about 90 mins between teaching sessions today.
  17. Unformed, there is no sense in trying to speak logically with people that are more interested in supporting their illogical agenda. Nightingale, great means of dancing around the issues. Does it matter if it's 6oo, 6000, 600,000, or 6 million? Significant number of non-Christians have died as victims of a Christian agenda. Isn't that the relevant fact? Like I said, try being a non-white, non-Christian in the deep south. Anything you have to say on the subject is weak postulation. Done it, been there, got the scars. You?
  18. Do you just make this stuff up? I ask because it seems like you regularly post complete lies. It is easy for him to say anything he wants on a forum and expect no one to challenge his assertions. Look at attached graphs. Like you're one to talk, Steve. You lied, and changed text to suit your own position. Bein wrong and lying are significantly different. You lied. I'm wrong. Big difference. So I'm wrong about the SIZE of the people in various religions, but if you read all of my earlier posts, I refer to Christians being 1/3 of the religious world. Your chart bears that out. So now we're discussing semantics, based on your earlier comments. The other irony is that some of the Christians here regard Mormons, Catholics, etc as not being "Christian." Remove Catholicism and Mormons from your chart, and we're a significant number closer to what I'd stated earlier on. Again a typical "Christian" behavior. Use words and bullshit when it's convenient, and ignore it or deny it when it's not.
  19. Your contention that the Holocaust was a Christian endeavor is clearly a fringe position. I don't think you'd find many historians (especially ones who are notably objective) who would support your take on this. So, we're left with 60,000,000 vs. a quarter of a million. One is less than 1/2 of one percent of the other. Hmm. What are you talking about? Are you saying that racial/religious hate crimes are currently the norm in the Southeast? 1. Hitler demanded people to ascribe to the philosophy of Kirke-Kinder-Kuchen (Church, Children, Kitchen) In my mind, that makes it very much a Christian movement. Nazi's today are still very vocal about Christianity. Christianity was traditionally a white-man's only religion in the past. It's only been in the past 100 years that it's accepted people of various ethnicities. 2. No, I'm not saying racial/ethnic crimes are the norm in the Southeast, they're the norm _everywhere_ in the world, but in the Southeast, they're worse. I've experienced racism from "Christians" my entire life, so please don't assign some fucked up anecdotal information to what you think I may believe and why. Like I said, try being a non-white, non-Christian in the Southeast. We're "tolerated" in the rest of the country, barely. Or maybe you believe in Santa Claus, the check is in the mail, and Republicans really care.
  20. Muslims, Bhuddists, and Hindus, for primary starters. Kallend, it was just a reply to the general forum, yours happened to be the post on which I'd clicked "reply."
  21. 60 million divided by four...not that hard. that would equal 15 million. Holocaust accounts for anywhere between 12 million and 26 million. A quarter million (which was a significant number to the world population at the time) is a drop in the bucket, but it also represents the next greatest number in Christian murders of non-Christians. So...between 12.25 million and 26.25 million falls squarely into my original statement of the Holocaust and the Crusades accounting for roughly a quarter of the 60 million that someone else claims. It could be as much as 3/8ths, if you wanna accept the higher end of the Holocaust numbers, yeah? Perhaps you don't accept that Christians are violent. Live in the deep south for a while as a non-white, non Christian. Then come back and tell me how "rich" this stuff is. To you, it's funny. To some of us, it's reality.
  22. Why is it that either you're a Christian or an athiest/unbeliever? Jews, Druids, Bhuddists, Muslims, Native Americans, Hindi's, Confucians, Jains, Taoists, Sikhs, Wiccans, Druzists, Gnostics, Zoastrians, don't fall into the category of "Christian,"and they certainly aren't athiest. Not to mention that they represent by FAR the greatest slice of world population. Christianity's numbers are significantly down the list from many of these religions.
  23. Having been forced into a Catholic school when very young, and then having been raised by a Mormon family, I'm sure my view is somewhat distorted, but my view is that anyone ascribing to the teachings that have been attributed to Jesus the christ (actually named "Yeshua" by his parents) is a Christian. Christians seem to appreciate divisiveness, and so have created "rules" about who is and isn't Christian. To me, it seems pretty simple. Either you believe in what Yeshua taught, or you don't. If you don't, you're not Christian. If you believe in Yeshua, then you must partake of baptism, in my view.
