  1. Landing into the wind is easier to land but landing downwind isn't that much of a problem. Making low turns are dangerous though. Before you get up in the air you should have a flight/landing plan. Where are you going to be at 1000 ft and where are you going to be at 250 ft. If you are too high on the 250 point you can loose some altitude by making slow turns (towards the DZ) till you are at 250 ft. You probably hit the ground hard because you made a low turn (as you said you barely had time to straighten the landing?). Don't do that anymore . Your canopy needs time to recover from a turn. You shouldn't rely on radios to land is my opinion as they can fail. My DZ uses no radios at all. My first landing was a bit hard too because I flared too high..made a PLF..no big deal . Most first time students withouth a radio won't make a perfect landing... I"m sure your next one will be better... Talk to your instructors about your flightplan/landing plan etc. Congratulations on your first jump and enjoy your next jump _______________________________________
  2. You definatly misrouted it...double check it next time when you clean your cables.. I saw the same thing with a fellow jumper I was doing CRW with. His reserve was just repacked and the cable was also misrouted. As he was standing next to me on the ground the riser just fell of...We:"What the f*** ". Scared me pretty much as he had a top dock on my chute. Don't want to speculate what could have happened that jump . _______________________________________

  4. basically I'm addicted to every part of skydivinig but lately I'm having more fun at my landings. Am trying to swoop with my front risers but only had one 'perfect' landing which resulted in a long swoop inches above the ground .....Am trying to repeat it but still have little problem with timing and judging altitudes but I'm prefering canopy time at the moment above freefall time....Call me crazy
  5. Nop...you are the only one .. I was scared shitless about my first hop 'n pop at 3500 right after AFF..It does seem so low when you are used to 12000+ft. Do a few hop 'n pops from 3500 and you'll get used to it. C&P's are actually fun...you'll have airspace all to yourself...you are the first one done...you can pack quicker to be on the next load etc...and did I mention they are cheaper?.. _______________________________________
  6. Didn't I post something in the thread?? How strange.. _______________________________________
  7. I would suggest...go to a DZ and rent a rig the first couple of jumps... _______________________________________
  8. hee...I didn't get a t-shirt...but it was fun nonetheless.. Getting paid is always nice _______________________________________
  9. Tomorrow (sunday) the temperature will be 30 degrees Celsius, 86 degrees Fahrenheit and I will be jumping from this plane (first tail exit for me ). Can you top this? _______________________________________
  10. whoeoe..very nice vid Saskia _______________________________________
  11. This is texel...and that's my canopy . It might be a tandemfactory..but so is every other DZ here in the Netherlands then. I think it has a lot to offer to funjumpers. There are now two DZ on texel by the way so you can pick one of your choosing
  12. A little fear is a healthy thing..It helps you remember what you are about to do. I know from experience that spending too much time between jumps is very bad for your nerves. Best thing is to complete your AFF as soon as possible but you can't control the weather of course. Remember next time you're in the plane that you have 1-Done this before and know what to do and not to do 2-That this is the best thing ever 3-not jumping this time will cost you money 4-the longer you wait and the more you will ride the plane down, the more scared you will be the next time so it will only be harder to jump next time for you. 5- relax..this is suppose to be fun
  13. http://www.parachute.nl/fileadmin/knvvlpa_upload/pdf/bvrbb.pdf these are the dutch canopy rules _______________________________________
  14. Don't do anything with the nose...just leave it be and finish your packjob as normal. It will still give you a nice soft opening... _______________________________________
  15. Hehe...Bonnie rocks... I got the exact same system as you did from gravity gear...Couldn't be more happier. Have you already tried to pack your main?? It's fun...isn't it? _______________________________________
  16. The vision is an elliptical canopy wether the sabre1 is not. Switching to an elliptical canopy puts you under a less forgiving canopy. You are planning to downsize from 1.2 to 1.6? I think that's asking for trouble at 200 jumps and think that if you buy that canopy you will regret it in the near future. Maybe it's a better idea to be looking at a sabre2 135 or similar instead if you want to downsize? _______________________________________
  17. What do you think of this colorscheme? I have no taste concerning colorschemes _______________________________________
  18. Don't know if it's safe or not but can't think of any reason why to route the chest strap like that. Isn't that very uncomfortable??...you have a piece of metal now pressing into your chest (normally the strap is between it if you route it normally??) I would vote 'no' but that's just a guess. Think it will not come undone. The only issues I can think of with my limited jumpnumbers is the lack of comfort and that it will be harder to loosen or release the cheststrap (in case of a waterlanding or something? ). _______________________________________
  19. There are no cut in laterals for the Icon I5 and the I6. Most probably the size he's going to order. The I4 is for a 135-150 main I believe and is the biggest container which has cut-in-laterals. _______________________________________
  20. The wings..Awesome rig...but with everything in this sport...it's a personal choice + point of the wings are lower price and delivery time. _______________________________________
  21. Around 50 jumps after AFF I ordered my gear...got my gear around jump 100 _______________________________________

hehe...you have the exact same wingloading as I have....Oh yeah...I waited 16 weeks for my icon...just that you realize you could be waiting a little bit longer then 8 weeks. With this wingload downsizing soon would be a bad idea so I think you'll get your money worth. Be a little bit careful though with this chute. It can bite you when you do something stupid.... Didn't like the green also on your rig....but it doesn't matter what I think..as long as you think it looks good Edited to add: But I have no taste...my rig is all black with only a royal blue 'A' on the back and royal blue/dark grey logo's

I agree.. I also think a wingloading of 1.3 is a bit too much for a beginner with 30 jumps..please discuss this with your instructors before you buy a canopy with that wingloading.. Here in holland you can't go over 1.1 if you don't have at least 100 jumps. If your exit weight is 210 then a pilot 188 would give you appr. a 1.1 wingloading. _______________________________________

It's a nice rig and I think the rig itself will last you 470 jumps. If you plan to stay under a wingload of 1.3 for 500 jumps that is. We, in holland, can't jump anything above 1.3 before we have 500 jumps. Don't konw what the rules are in england though. Keep in mind that you'll probably want a smaller canopy in hundred jumps. Only you can decide if it's a good choice for you... _______________________________________
