2. Packing a pilot 168 in an I5 was already so much fun when it was brand new. I don't think you will enjoy packing an 188 _______________________________________
3. well...try before you buy. I'm sure you'll be able to demo a pilot somewhere or have one shipped to you by aerodyne or something. I made my first 200+ jumps on a pilot 168 and it is actually a very nice canopy. It has a very shallow glide compared to a PD (sabre2). It is a very nice chute to start with at 40 jumps and I'm sure you will be able to have fun with it. It's forgiving but still very responsive if you want it to be. It's just as good as a PD or Icarus. Maybe even better then Icarus as I have seen one Saffire2 tear itself to bits on opening ... I also have a smart reserve which I was also able to demo once. Nice canopy,reliable...good solid flight charateristics..sweet fast opening. Smart is a good choice for a reserve...so is PD of course. _______________________________________
4. 17 on a 280 13 on a 230 10 jumps on a 210 23 on a 190 150 jumps on a 170 now have a 150 Don't think 10 jumps is too soon based on your wingloading but it depends on your canopy skills. If you say that you stand up almost all of your landings under your 170 then that's not very reassuring . You should have said:" I stand up all of my landings". _______________________________________
5. My first canopy I bought was a pilot 170. Jumped a lot of student and rental gear before that. I now have a sabre2. A pilot is a good canopy for a newbie in the appropiate size. Don't buy a canopy before you have demoed one. Demo some canopies and then make your choice which you like the best. _______________________________________
6. here is mine.. elektron.et.tudelft.nl/~fpr95/IMG_0006.jpg _______________________________________
7. I just got my B-license...it only took me 300 jumps.. _______________________________________

10. Where can I find this video? Tried a search but didn't get anything....thanks _______________________________________
11. the students static lines & d bags are pulled in after the last sl has jumped _______________________________________
12. This jumper didn't jump again if I recall correctly. @Freeflysmiley....this is a very old video..We have square reserves for a very long time now... _______________________________________
13. whatever ....the point is that this happens if you exit unstable and that is why the instuctor helped him out and hold the staticline in his hands to speed deployment up and reduce the risc of a mal. In the better quality video on this site you can see him answer yes to the question "ready to jump"? If he students has shown on previous jump that he can't exit stable I can understand why a JM would help him out. Normally students exit on there own. You don't know how students are trained at this dz and what strange things students can do during training. This video looks to me like the student f****d up and the JM did his job. _______________________________________
14. I know this instructor and DZ as I jump there myself..The jumper isn't pushed but helped trying to exit stable and have the static line deploy the chute as fast as possible as this wasn't the best s/l student as you could see. I believe this student had some previous jump in which he also exited unstable. This instructor isn't a dick. Be a little bit more carefull with your statements Jumpers are never pushed at this dz _______________________________________
15. that sucks...don't know anything about dakine rags. 4 months is a long time. Next time consider a symbi suit. I had mine within 4 weeks!!!.... _______________________________________
16. barz optics also makes very nice goggles with presciption lensens/polaroid lenses/etc... _______________________________________
17. I just got a new symbi suit myself with megabooties...these suits are very very nice. I'm sure you'll be happy with it..... _______________________________________
18. I only need to do the exam for my B. Plan to do that next time I visit my DZ. All the other requirements for my B and C are done (there are a lot more in the Netherlands than the USA I guess), except for the exams... The exam for my B is easy...for my C it will probably take a lot of studying... _______________________________________
19. Just a quick question which is on my mind for some time now... Does very cold or very warm weather has any influence on the forward speed on a canopy? If so...what exactly? Can I expect to have a faster canopy in the summer for instance? _______________________________________
20. With 850 jumps I won't blame packing . Have around 150 jumps on the pilot and I have never had a hard opening regardless how fast I packed. Maybe the slider wasn't all the way up?? I just jumped a sabre2 for the first time and had the softest/slowest opening ever. I heard people saying that this chute (SA2) can open rather quickly. Did you have any hard openings on the pilot and if so..how many? _______________________________________
21. I just made my first jump on my new sabre2. The opening was softer then any of my 100 jumps on my pilot. I have never had such a soft opening..The slider took forever to come down
22. You can only get a skyhook as an option when purchasing a new RW-container. _______________________________________
23. Yep....Thank you very much. Thanks for the tip about the 'end not cut with a hot knife/burned' tip. Didn't thought about that one yet. I'll have my rigger fingertrap the excess line (and take a look how he does that ).. I got the PD manual here beside me Saskia ..cya next week in Teuge if the weather will improve a bit (snowing here in holland right now ) . _______________________________________
24. thanks....i will take it to my rigger then. I just followed the pd-manual for attaching the toggle to the line but they didn't mention that _______________________________________
25. Hi, Just a quick stupid question
