  1. Do you also flare till you reach shoulder height? If you use a full flare you can also turn using full steering input!!!! The time will come that you need to avoid another parachute flying towards you. Pulling your steering line till shoulder height could get you killed then. You need to know how to fly your parachute. Using full toggle input is one them. Not listening to your instructors is not a good idea....just do it!!!! Inducing line twist happens with smaller parachutes and alternating turns right and left very quickly and aggresively. Don't worry about that just yet as you have (at least I hope so) a big and forgiving canopy
  2. I have a katana 135 in a I5 with a smart 160. It's just doable but am not real happy about it. Am thinking about a new container... I guess your rig might just be ok if you shorten the closing loop (a lot :) )..can't tell for sure though.. I also had a crossfire2-139 in my rig which fitted rather nicely....don't know if pack volume of safire and crossfire2 are the same. _______________________________________
  3. I've had a sabre2 for 2 years and was able to pretty much get on-heading openings as long as you steer the canopy on opening. I don't understand what the problem is with off-heading openings. Crossfire2 would be a step up from a sabre2. If you don't like the crossfire2 either I would suggest staying on the safire2 and go one size smaller? If swooping is your thing...go with a sabre2. If you don't like the openings on the sabre2...stay far away from the katana. The katana would be a nice choice if you already learned some skills under a sabre2 loaded at around 1.5. The katana is a step up from a crossfire2. _______________________________________
  4. Sabre2-135 would be a nice choice? Try to demo that one. _______________________________________
  5. Visited this DZ but due to bad weather I only got to make 1 jump. Very nice DZ and friendly atmosphere. Will visit this DZ again when I'm in the neighbourhood. It's a small DZ but very nice.. Can recommend it....

    Para Centro Locarno

Visited this DZ when I was on vacation in Switzerland. It has the nicest scenery I ever saw from the sky. Mountains, lakes...just breathtaking. Cool people over there and nice jumping. It's a busy airport though. Landingarea is surrounded by air-strips, helikopterpads etc. You have to be very careful under canopy and watch where you are going. Only thing I didn't like very much was an instructor which literally said: I'm an instructor, when I say you close your chinstrap of you helmet in the plane you do that (was wearing one but close it always before exit, putting on goggles etc). I'm not a student, nor do I need to be treated as one. Aside from the annoying instructor this is a very cool DZ. Can recommend for experienced skydivers..
  7. His/her left shoelace is undone!!! .. (and cutaway pillow dislodged....) Did I win anything?
  8. 540 degrees twisted?? That's not even two full turns...That's nothing!! You should be able to clear them without using any toggles. I had about 2800+ degrees on my katana at 1.7. Took me a while but got out of them without using toggles. _______________________________________
  9. You are allowed to jump your current main as the dutch rules only applies to those who are switching canopies. You already own and are jumping this canopy so...no problem there.. If you live in the Netherlands it is not necessary to have a knvvl membership. As far as I know it USPA or PVV (belgian equivalent) will do just as fine . _______________________________________
  10. Worth repeating. Worth repeating more then twice
  11. Ok thanks..thought as much _______________________________________
  12. I looked at all the katana posts here on dz,com but am wondering how the glide (in normal flight) is compared to a sabre2 of the same size? I know it's a ground hungry canopy but so is a sabre2 compared to a stiletto. I demoed a crossfire2 one size smaller as my sabre2 and found the glide to be much better then my sabre2. I kept on overshooting my landing spot... Thanks _______________________________________

  14. Just hope you don't have to land downwind...accidently or not... I guess that would be fun to watch _______________________________________
  15. A sabre2 is a better swoop-canopy then a pilot. The sabre2 is a bit more aggresive and has a longer recovery arc. My first canopy was also a pilot. Great canopy but not for swooping when loaded lightly (wl 1:1). I now have a sabre2 and have appr. 450 jumps. It is a very nice canopy to learn hp landings. I would strongly suggest it for your next canopy. A saphire2 might have better openings then a sabre2 but also has a shorter recovery arc. I don't care much about the openings of the sabre2. They are soft and if it tends to open off-heading I can counter steer it with harnes-input or rear risers. You shouldn't even be thinking about a katana or xfire2 at this point. ... There is a sabre2 appreciation video somewhere on www.skydivinigmovies.com...go watch it :) _______________________________________
  16. Hoogeveen 25-27 May....Nice!!!!. Will try to be there . _______________________________________
  17. What is wrong with giving advice to someone with lesser jumps? You don't necessarily have to follow it or anything. Do you know with only 100 jumps you will probably drift alot (cover a lot of horizontal distance) when you are trying to go head down..at the risk of running into someone during freefall? _______________________________________
  18. If I have to buy a reserve it would be a smart or a pd. I have a smart 160 now. Demoed a 175. Flies solid. Lands very easy. Am happy with it. _______________________________________
  19. I don't think the VISO is an audible alti for under canopy. I guess you're referring to the swoop beeps. It doesn't have that. _______________________________________
  20. I have jumped both. I found that the pilot has a better glide then the sabre2...sabre2 has a bit more power during landing. _______________________________________
  21. "She really went above and beyond" I second that
  22. A smart 175 will fit poorly in an I5. A smart 160 fits better.... _______________________________________
  23. A '120' and a '210' isn't really comparable. I have the exact same thing with my slider on my sabre2 150. Nothing to worry about...one tug on my rears and it's down....It's a sabre2 characteristic I think. If you are really bothered by it I suggest packing your chute with slider down.... _______________________________________
