  1. I have a katana 135 and demoed a velo 120, 111 and 103.

I made one jump on the velo 120 and handed it back to the pd-dude. Way too big, slow, non responsive enough. It felt like a boat. so yes...they do fly a little big so to say. I now have a velo 103..haven't made a lot of jumps on it yet but kinda miss my katana a little bit :P...

I don't think they have the same aspect ratio. The velo has a smaller AR as far as i know.

I wouldn't get a pilot for swooping purposes, and a safire 2 may or may not work for you. The sabre2 is really good for learning to swoop. If you liked it except for the openings, you might give the fusion a try. Or maybe just another sabre2, as there's some differences between sabre2s in how they open.

    +1

I think a sabre2 opens very nice...You can use rear riser or/and harnass to keep it on heading during opening.

Generally speaking...if you want a fun parachute....you'll get fun openings ;)....just live with it and learn to fly your openings..

  3. Telling someone when/how to flare is a bit difficult but I wouldn't flare later if I were you when winds are higher.. Just flare as you do normally do regardless of windconditions...

it is just trial and error. If you know you flared too soon the other time..flare a little bit later and vice versa.

Probably a good tip is to get some video of your landings and review them with an instructor/canopycoach.

  4. Well...I have an argus and uptill now I didn''t have any trouble jumping it.

I don't see any logic behind this requirement. I would very much like to know the reason behind this. First thing that comes to my mind is that aviacom is afraid the charge might not be sufficient to fully cut the loop while the display still says 'battery ok".

I'm losing my confidence in this product

    edited to add:

I also send them an email concerning the cutter replacement..never heard from them also....

Here is a dutch list of mains and in which category's they fall. The higher the category, the more aggresive the canopy is...basically that translates to off heading openings...more dive in turns...less recovery...more fun :)...

    katana/crossfire2 is category 4 (isn't listed)...

You're now in category two....if you want a more zippy parachute you could get a sabre2 (cat 3)...

read reviews on mains here in dz and talk to friends on your dz and demo a lot of canopies...

  6. Sweetspot for a sbre2 is around 1.5 I think. 1.9 seems a little high and I would rather choose a crossfire2 or katana at that wingload.

If you already jump a crossfire2...why go back to a sabre2?

  7. The optimum 126 is listed as soft for the M0. The pd standard reserve 126 is listed as optimum.

I'm no rigger but if the reserve is packed 'soft' maybe the main will fit a little bit looser??? Just a thought...I have no idea if I make any sense or not :)

  8. sabre2-150

what canopy control exercises??? and are you planning to do them more then once ;).

for swooping the sabre2 would be better choice to start swooping I guess because of the longer recovery arc then a stiletto.

had a pilot 168 myself..then switched to a sabre2...I never jumped a stiletto because I wanted a longer revocery arc after my pilot...
