  1. PB on one slice, whole wheat or oat (haven't eaten white bread in forever). Strawberry preserves on top of PB (not a fan of plain jelly, kinda slimy. I love the extra taste preserves add) Wipe knife, but not a big deal if there's some cross contamination in jars. Cover with second slice. Cut diagonally, eat. I still like to have mine with a cold glass of milk - so gradeschool, but I love it.
  2. I agree, they are beautiful. I especially liked the first black/white set...I know the clouds rolling in doesn't make it easy to capture an eclipse, but I've always love the look of a full moon framed by clouds at night. 3. Oh, I'm glad to hear it's that. It's something they can manage pretty easily Sophie acted totally fine too - eating/drinking normally. You wouldn't have guessed she had a problem until you looked at her belly. I didn't start looking bad until day 4 I think. I was so nervous that the puffiness and big lump was due to her jumping. I tried to keep her contained, but I turned my head away for a second and she'd jump up into the window sill...I thought she had ripped something internally and had developed a hernia. I was able to get her to the vet the next morning and she was able to tell right away it wasn't a hernia. She had the practice owner, who's been a vet for 35 yrs., come look at her too and he said the same: suture reaction. So like I said, antibiotics and I watched her but she was fine. The vet said the bump would flatten and heal over time and it did - it took a good month and a half, but went totally away. I'm sure the same will happen for Katanna.
  4. Oh lord...a great example of a young woman who has been taught what to wear, what to say ("I want world peace"), but not how to think. I'm hoping extreme nervousness can account for this somehow. 5. So sorry to hear this. It's agonizing when they're sick. My kitty Sophie had an allergic reaction and inflammation due to the sutures they used after her spay (oddly enough called 'cat gut' sutures). She had a huge lump along her incision line. She was able to get away with oral antibiotics at home though. It took a while for the incision to heal and flatten out, but it eventually did. It wasn't the vet's fault - it happens. I'm sure your Katana will pull through - sending kitty prayers up! 6. Armour666: I had no idea what that reference meant...thanks for posting up with those. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  7. Simplyputsi has a good point...I went to court to argue getting a ticket for going through an intersection under a yellow light (I proceeded on green, but it changed to yellow while I was in the middle - cop said it was yellow to start with, it wasn't). So I took the morning off work, went downtown. I sat and waited and watched while a gazillion people went in front of the judge to argue stupid stuff they were clearly guilty of...one guy parked his car in the middle of a baseball field - he said he did it because there was no game going and he couldn't find parking on the street: "Hey, what am I suppose to do Judge??? Park 5 fuckin blocks away???". The judge was clearly so annoyed with all this kind of stuff, and wanted to get through his day, that it became clear that people who just went up there and simply said "guilty" were immediately given 6mo. probation, wiped off the record if no further violations. So depending on your situation, it might be worth your time. Good luck. 8. Wow...so sorry to hear about your situation, but I'm so glad you're alive to tell it! We all have to make choices based on our circumstances in life, and I'm sure you're making the right one for you and your family. Please keep us updated on your progress!! Peace, blessings and full healing to you. 9. I love her work...I'm going to try to find a website for her and see if it's coming through Chicago. Thanks for the head's up on it. 10. I didn't know I could do that either - thanx skymama! 12. I have a couple friends who just left for China today, and they swear by cheaptickets.com...happy hunting! 13. Congratulations on 15 years!!! I've never met anyone who could be "sober" but not clean - you're the first! (I was gunna say I owed you beer but, um, er, not sure that's a good idea...) Unfortunately, there are several alcoholics in my immediate family Those in my family who abused alcohol could not stop at one or two drinks...they had to drink until digustingly drunk. So for them, they had to be clean to be sober...there is no concept for them of being "sober" but not clean (having a drink now and then). For them, it had to be all or nothing. As far as caffiene, have it all the time. I don't worry about that...I'm not going to loose my job because I can't show up for work because I'm hung over from caffiene (in fact I might loose my job if I don't have that cup of coffee in the morning to get me going!!) Fortunately, never started smoking so that's not an issue in my life. Edited to add: It doesn't sound like you have a problem J. - don't worry about it or what other people say, you know you're O.K.!! 14. The first video is sweet, but that second one made me cry. When that guy is saying "I got my dog..." ugh - really made my heart ache for him! I can't comprehend how people can be cruel to animals... 15. I live just outside chicago, have Comcast (the evil empire) and get high speed and expanded basic for $99/mo. I only wanted the expanded pkg. of cable so I could get CNN. They keep sending me promotional stuff in the mail about the T.V./high speed/phone, but I don't want anything to do with it because it will end up being a bazillion dollars a month once the initial promotional fee wears off. 18. Didn't see it, but if anyone can put it up I'd love to. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  19. Really? It just made me laugh. I thought the overall tone of the segment was very positive. Skydiving isn't for everyone. I didn't feel like her reaction undid the positive message of the rest of the segment. If that clip caught anyone's interest, I doubt that Meredith's "No!" would undo that.*** Yea, I agree with Jewels. I saw it and thought Kerry's engergy about it all was great. I loved how he answered David Gregory's question about the feeling/fear of falling, that "you don't get that stomach-in-your-throat feeling like on a roller coaster, you feel like you're floating" . I think there are a lot of people who are interested in making a jump, but can't quite get a handle on how to deal with their fear of it - if they only could, they would. I know I was that way and asked the same questions about rollercoasters to my jumpmaster. I think David Gregory wants to jump - I hope he goes for it! Meredith was just Meredith - she made me laugh. Great job to all involved!!
  20. Ahhh...this was a nice little thread! I've been wanting to get a 2nd cat, but have been worried about bringing a new one in. My Sophie is 11mos. and it took her a good little while to settle in as she was shuttled between several foster homes, and I think that experience made her a little nervous. It took her a while to realize "this is really my home". I think she needs a pal while I'm at work, but I'm worried she'll freak. She doesn't like encountering any of the neighborhood cats - when one of them recently hopped up on the window sill outside, she went crazy hissing and howling. Glad to hear these stories worked out! 21. I recently adopted a kitten from Petsmart under the explicit agreement w/that particuliar rescue agency that I would have her spayed w/in 30 days of adoption...and I had no problem w/that. There are too many animals w/out homes that end up starving to death, are put in "shelters" that will euthanize them if they can't be adopted out w/in a certain time period (my kitty's situation), or dumped by the side of the road. These dumped animals end up being mistreated because they are "strays", which to some sick minds means they don't belong to anyone and, therefore, have no value and can be used as target practice for their new guns or bows, used in dog fights, or set on fire if the mood strikes...you see it on the Animal cop shows all the time. My mind can't comprehend these types of brutality. Adopt and neuter/spay! 22. I sifted through the posts made on MySpace and someone there listed an article from the Mirror: //www.mirror.co.uk/news/topheadlines (can't clicky) Anyway, says snake was defanged and mouth sewn shut...part of a snake charming festival in India. There's an area where people are revered for their charming abilites. Only problem is, the leader of this clan was killed when a supposedly "safe" snake bit him in the thigh. I guess cobra's fangs can grow back... Creepy to watch. Creepy to know they put a child in that position. Snake is supposedly defanged and mouth sewn, but at the end the snake wraps itsself around the child's neck. Creepy to know they'd sew a snakes mouth shut.
