  1. I just read your update...I'm stunned and saddened by the turn of events. My thoughts and prayers are w/you and Anakin. Hoping for the best out of this situation. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  2. I haven't seen a kitten so young and teeny-tiny since I was kid. He's so lucky his mom took him to the El Camino - he lost a mom but he got a great new dad!!
  3. That's a VERY good thing you have done. A lot of people would have said "it's just a cat", and left it alone or done worse. Sounds like you're a great cat momma! 4. Still keeping my fingers crossed and sending up prayers for you and Anakin. Hang in there... "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  5. Congratulations...great article!
  6. **Well...I'm really wondering about the pissing constest thing because if you really read my whole post, I don't know how you could come up with that conclusion. And of all the responses to Jaye, you chose to take issue with mine...how about the blatent smart ass remarks??? My response was an attempt to do some critical thinking and deconstruct the Rotenberg Center's argument (I was taught to do that in school - try to look at things objectively) for using this torture as a one-size-fits-all (autitism, emotionally troubled, bipolar...whatever the diagnosis) treatment . And to show that their arugument makes no sense at all for any situation. And further, no matter what Rotenberg's say, it is a barbaric practice. And that trying to get kids to cooperate out of fear is not the way to go...no matter what. You took one paragraph out of the middle, and therefore, out of context with the rest of what I had to say. And NO, I don't think it's right for bipolar, autistic, emotionally troubled or any child...I really think the whole tone of my response tells this. To say otherwise is a real stretch, and an unkind one at that. I respecfully ask that you reread my whole response. I sometimes write too much...bad habit of mine, maybe that's what made it confusing for you. I have a big heart for kids...and would never want any child treated this way. 8. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear your cat is so sick...it's heartbreaking when your going through that process of trying to get them well and you're not getting the answers you want/need. A prayer sent up for Nightingale and kitty... 11. Cool! Glad you had fun and used your head and were able to get back safely
  12. It is asking for it. I love the nature shows, but some of these folks antagonize these in animals in the name of "teaching us"...they chase these animals forever, wrestle them to the ground, grab their head and stick it in the camera and say "...see". I don't need all those theatrics to learn - that's what zoom lenses are for. I don't know when this took place, but if was after Steve Irwin's death, this guy didn't get the memo that wild animals are just that...and aren't predictable even in the calmest of circumstances and clearest of waters. 13. If you like deep-dish, I HIGHLY recommend Edwardo's. It's the best deep-dish, but I recommend getting extra sauce with it...with a deep dish you can get into a lot of left-over crust to eat. With the extra sauce you can scoop it up with the crust - yummmm! I always get the spinach, mushroom, and Canadian bacon with extra sauce - fantastic! 14. I caught the last half when I was flipping channels and had the exact same thought when it was over. I'm not a big baseball person, so I didn't connect with it that way but it has so much more than baseball going on in it anyway...truly a great movie. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  15. full name: Deadly Whispers email name: Viscious Tongue first name only: Satanist Bitch They got better as I went along! 16. Besides being disgusting, it's so bizare to me that a place like this would exhist. Trying to look at this with as broad a mind to this as possible, I still can't wrap my mind around it. First of all, how could anyone think that the way you treat an autistic child would be the same as the way you treat a very emotionally troubled child (not that this is "treatment" anyway)...and the idea that you essentially hold the threat of being tasered 24hrs.a day over them might have an effect on a troubled kid, but not to an autistic one who has diminished mental capacity to start with. It's apples and oranges. I don't have first-hand experience with either autism or kids that have severe self-destructive tendancies, but I can't imagine in either case that this would be truly effective in curing them - just scares them into temporarily complying - then what? Like I said, no first hand experience but it seems like a place where people don't want to be bothered doing the hard work required for real change in troubled kids. It sends the message "I don't give a rat's ass about you, just don't make trouble..." And if I had an autustic child who was so profoundly affected by the disease that they were harmful to themselves and others, I think it would more humane to have them medicated than to subject them to this. 17. I'm not particuliarly a bike chick, but that's a very cool looking bike you ended up with Squeak! I bet all the kids at your school love Gina - you teach at a school right? Or is it a community outreach center....can't remember. Either way, I bet they love it!. 20. Oooooh, wouldn't you look cool pulling into the DZ in that!! You can't go wrong with a vette...unless you order it or paint it some odd color like pea green (I saw someone driving a pea green corvette once...all I could think was "WHY??"). BUY IT! BUY IT! 21. My first reaction was the same as Shell's...I agree with her on all counts, especially the last one. A lot of people don't seem to make the effort, so it's great that you are. Which reminds me, I have some thank you notes to write!!
