  1. Hi All, I'm flying camera now, I have about 50+ jumps or so with it and am making the transition into not just jumping with the thing on my head, but focusing on filming someone else now. I have been focusing on that for the last 10 jumps or so. My main goal is of course tandems. My set up is this; FF2 (with cutaway) with CX150, Hypeye, two audibles and an old tony wing suit, no booties and a coupel of good knives. No still cam (not ready for that). I have the ringsight but have not put it on my helmet yet. My plan is to have the ringsight on in about 10-30 more jumps. Anyways, if you're willing to share, I'd like to know what you do to make your camera jump successful...what you are thinking about at that level. Like what is your harddeck for tandem jumps, 4-ways, track dives, ect? I basically don't want to take this thing off of my head now until I am ready for something else. What do you think about the most. It's like a formula right? The same old equation...now we're doing it with additional variables, what do you consider to be your most important ones? Plus, I can definately use some good wisdom on the actual flying with the tandems...I find it hard to stay with them on exit and to be perfectly ohnest, I don't have that confidence that "no matter what, I will be there!" How did you get there? What tricks/skills do you apply to make sure you're there? A lot, I know. pick anything and expand on it, I appreciate your time.
  2. Hi All, I just bought a cx150 to upgrade to the new age. I am currently jumping an FF2 setup with a cameye or cameye 2. What is the difference between the cameye and the HyPeye? Can I use my cameye with the cx150?
  3. >>I’m not sure exactly what the point of this post is but, I believe I just want to hear what everyone else thinks about it.
  4. >>In this case, I have PMs with the OP, and he has said that all he wanted was the simple answer, and that rest constituted information overload.
  5. Depends on your gear! If it's student gear, then it should automatically deploy the reserve once you cut away. Someone please expand. On 'normal' gear, a cutaway will only cutaway your main, it will do nothing to activate your reserve unless you have an rsl or skyhook (which are only back-up devices). You must pull the cutaway handle and then the reserve handle. Even if you have student gear and an rsl/skyhook, you should always practice on pulling both handles (not at the same time: cutaway, then reserve). Blue Skies
  6. Regardless of all this s***...I'm getting a better hoock knife!!!
  7. This happened to me as well. I rushed putting my gear on 'all by myself' as I was freshly off instruction. I wanted to be like the others...ready quick and confident. Luckily, an experienced jumper, working for PD now, pointed it out to me on the ground. I was sub-30 jumps back then, renting those big ass student rigs. I could have died...shit! I don't know about how others feel but falling out of a harness is on the top of my list of gear check because it can happen so easily--> cheststrap, cheststrap, cheststrap!

  10. Yep, I'm pretty much in agreement with everything you're saying, especially: >>Another thing I've learned from the few years I've been at this is that everything costs more than you think it will.

    Need Help

Hi all, I need your help. I am going to see my grandfather who is 73 years old and whom I haven't seen in years. I love this man and I want to get him a nice gift. But what do you give an old man? It can't be anything like a watch or clothing or some crap like that...it has to be for the heart, because in my understanding, once you reach that age you don't care about things like that. I thought about a nice pipe with good tobacco or a nice bottle of liquor, you know, something that he will actually use and enjoy. But for health reasons, I'm not sure about this. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck, please share if you know of something.
  14. >>Most newbie freefliers think they're falling striaght down when they're actually floating all over the sky.
  15. Yo Chris, >>I've jumped Sabre 2's, Spectres, Cobalts, and and a Katana
  16. Good for you dude! But we're not seeing all the facts. I also bought my 1st set of gear for $1000 CAD (cypress not included). all the riggers said it was airworthy, and it was as I'm still here. But with gear like that, there's always a price. Trust me, get something that'll sit right in your mind. This shit is expensive. You might hunt and hunt for months and eventually get something, but just remember the principal that free comes with a dick in your ass. Reliability = $$$, ask yourself, what is your life worth?
  17. $5000 CAD for a used reliable, and complete setup.
  18. Yea but like, 'cmon! Who is going to order that?!?! Maybe one in a million...in that case, okay, maybe you should suffer the loss for not getting a 100% deposit! But even still, you'd probably be able to sell that to a DZ owner who will use it as student/training/rental gear for a reduced price (say 50%) plus you would have the 50% deposit. If you still have the gear and a large enough deposit, chances are that you won't lose financially.
  19. I just hope you didn't give him the gear! In my oppinion, there will always be people like this so the best way to make a deal is to have the upper hand. Dude doesn't reply with the cash after the 1st time, sorry, your order is put on hold until you show me the money. If the manufacturer decides to continue manufacturing it is ciompletely their fault. And on orders like harnesses, the deposit should be at least 50%.
  20. >>learnt how to fly head-down totally stable in only 3 jumps
  21. Wow, that was an overwhelming amount of information and feedback!!! lol Thanks for your response!
