  1. On those ocassions when theres a photographer along I put a 3x5 of the jump in the log book. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  2. People that have their mouth open do have issues with breathing in freefall. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  3. Try this: Set it below where you should be deploying (500'-1,000') and continue with visual queues as you did before you had the audible. If the audible goes off and you aren't doing what you should have been doing on your own, you're not as altitude aware as you should be. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  4. Hi Rob, Middle 90's I think, I was at Elsinore and watched a just off student status jumper land 2 canopies out; he had been long on his pull and the FXC fired under 1500' just where it was supposed to. He stood it up. I was the first one to him and casually asked him how his jump went. He said everything went fine, but why do I have 2 sliders. Being a visiting AFF/I I suggested that he talk to his instructor. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  5. Looks like they had time for a 2 way
  6. Larry, As I remember it was a hang glider pilot who didn't want to pay the full FJC price. Went out at altitude and freefell to about 5-7,000' and deployed the observer rig. The pilots (maybe Jim Fee was one) were not happy and had to be restrained from beating the shit out of him
  7. The picture I posted is the last I've heard. Larry Perkins has the pieces, along with pieces from several of the other Howards. We're all hoping he'll put one back together and let us jump it again.
  8. Sandy, Your eyes need to be checked out by a doctor Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  9. Me, too! Linda was one of my Jumpmasters and a good one, too.
  10. Rob, There's less of it, too! Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  11. Here's a question for the group, does anyone know the cost of a jump from altitude (that would be variable) over the last 30 years? My first jump was $40. I think my SL student jumps (C&P anyway) was $7.50 including gear
  12. One of Dirty Ed's brothers is the spitting image of Don Henderson (he's a couple of inches taller). When I saw him walking in I really thought it was Don. Say hi to Don and also Bill. Who (if anyone id managing the Women's Star Crest now days?). It's been too long since we've seen them both. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  13. And even if you add in all the one time tandem people skydiving still doesn't add up to anyhting very big, as a sport. There's room for a whole lot more people anyway you count it. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  14. I am rich in everything but money from skydiving. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  15. The prop is turning full circle. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  16. I still look in ratings and things to see if I know someone who I trained whose getting a license/award/rating. Every once in a while someone tells me/reminds me that I JM'd or taught them and it makes my day. The only question i have is "Are you still having fun?" I am. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  17. Sounds like the tin man when he walks, too. Whenever I'm having a bad day I think about the amputees who are jumping and just get on with it. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  18. Jerry sure, and how about Ray Cottingham. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  19. Yes Harry I remember I managed to lay don on the grass and find some of the road flare with my balls. I danced real good. I too had trouble finding my cloths but it was because the bikers that were there or someone (whuffo) stole my wallet. Got it back the next morning empty of cash but with my D.L. and credit cards. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  20. If I remember right the stewardess was strapped into the rear seat in the tail and she and the tail (which acted kind of like a canopy) fell to the ground together. She was hurt very badly but lived. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  21. The one that Chris won was when I decided that being a judge would get me closer to the action
  22. The way I heard this story was hat he eventually daisy chained the line backward and they didn't open. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  23. skr, Take a look at Gypsy moths for a multiple canopy (actually a least a couple different ways) deployment sequence. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  24. Randy 'Stinky' Green decided to play a trick one day at Elsinore. I had found an old cutaway handle and decided it would be a neat trick to pull it out of his jumpsuit and throw it back into the plane as he exited, yelling something appropriate. I told him that it sounded like a really stupid thing to do but that never stopped him before and off he went. I was on the ground doing a ground school when the load exited and sure enough there was a streamer and resulting cutaway and yes, it was 'Stinky'. Be careful what kind of games yoy play. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
  25. He'll be missed by all that knew him. Visit Airtrash.com. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166
