  1. I've never had the Eagles fly with me but I have had Red Tailed Hawks in the air with me. It was quite comical one time. I'm flying along at around 2000 ft and this hawk comes by and turns his head toward me and then looks forward again and then he almost breaks his neck doing a double take as if I caught him by surprise. It was as if he was looking at me and thinking what in the hell are you doing up here. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  2. Right on. Gotta agree with Johnrich. My mechanic told me that these onboard comps are so sensitive that if my 03 Outback had a single misfire on a sparkplug that the check engine light will come on. Everything he said is true. This morn in Montana It was 10 below zero. On a 1989 Ford Fiesta my check engine light came on. I shut the car off and restarted and the light was gone. I love it when things fix themselves. 3. Work and weather have kept me out of the sky since Sept. That was until last Sun. We had 5 loads in the air before I left the DZ that day. We hit it just right as now we have 5 inches of snow on the ground and the temps are in the single digits. Was sure good to get back in the air. 25 degrees on the ground and 40 degrees at altitude. Crisp bright blue skies. You could see snow capped mountains for 150 miles in all directions. Absolutley beautiful. Yes, life is good. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  4. I needed a horse because I love marijuana. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  5. I duck taped a small digital video cam to my pro tek at aprox. 30 or so jumps. Was only interested in filming my freefalls and was never thinking about my cam during these jumps. It was just a way to show my wife and friends when I got home. Once taped to my helmet there were no real snag points as it only stuck out aprox. 1 1/2 inches from my brain bucket and was completly rounded off with tape. The cam is a very small Aiptek camera. Last spring I bought a Bonehead Rat Hat and mounted an L-bracket and mounted my camera to it. It sticks out like a sore thumb. I am going to grind the bracket way down but it still is definatly a snag point. I've had a cam on my head for over 100 jumps now and believe me I know that's not alot. I'm sure to get alot of critisism and feed back for this, but rest assured that I'm going to re-evaluate jumping with the camera for awhile after watching that video. It was an eye opener. 6. I always wondered what it would be like for my wife to ride my Harley with me on the back, get it up to about 80 and then deploy my chute. Not that I would ever really do such a thing. But I got my answer last night when I watched Jack Ass 2. Wee Man stands behind a swamp boat as they wrap it up to about 80 and then he deploys a parachute. Talk about a wild deployment. That stunt alone made the whole movie worth watching. Wee Man has balls the size of bowling balls. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  7. I've never been a very patient person but I've learned more patience since I started skydiving than I ever learned in my whole life. The other thing I've learned is life is very short so enjoy all of it. Lastchance, nobody gets out alive. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  8. Hey thanks Popsjumper. I finally figured it all out and everything comes up current. If you're at the Lost Prairie Boogie this summer I'll buy you a beer. Thanks again. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  9. Yes I'm basically computer illiterate. Just where do I find all of these things you've described. I've looked around but can't seem to find them. I feel like an idgit. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  10. I like smoked salmon but it's kinda hard to get lit. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  11. For the last month now everytime I log on to Dropzone.com the last post column reads Dec 28 or somewhere in that time frame. If I go backwards on the pages the date will get more current. The only time that I can get a recent post list is if I go to an old thread and make a reply. What the hell. Any suggestions from anybody on how to get up to date posts and threads? Please help. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  12. lots I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  13. So is what I've been told wrong? And how do you know this? Not that I don't believe you, I am just wondering where you got your info. And for the people wondering what we're talking about, way back when (so I was told) when men were the absolute rulers of their houshold and the women did what they were told, the rule of thumb was that you could beat your wife with anything that was smaller in diameter than your thumb. 14. I don't think to many people out there realize what the "Rule Of Thumb" really means. Or what it originally meant I should say. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  15. Here Here, gotta agree with that. If somebody can't do the job, hire somebody that can. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  16. I've always been attracted to petite women. And yes that little gal is hot lookin, But just what could you do there. I guess there is such a thing as to small. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  17. It just takes time. I once rode my Harley from Las Vegas to Helena Mt. with a very bad bruised tailbone. Fell flat on my ass on concrete. That was the worst motorcycle ride I have ever done in my life. Good luck and just be patient. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  18. On my first few jumps on my Pro-Trac I never even heard it. Tho I was using a Pro-Tec brain bucket at the time and there was alot of noise. I had to concentrate on hearing it ( watching my alti and listening for my audible at the correct altitude). After I heard it the first few times, I started hearing it with no problem. I am now wearing a Bone Head Rat Hat that is enclosed and have no prob. at all hearing my audible. But it is far from being to loud. On the ground yes. In the air, no. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  19. When you leave a toothbrush at their house permanately. Really tho I think it's when you find yourself not even thinking about anybody else or you don't even look at another woman in the grocery store. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  20. This may be a stupid question but why can't you jump a DVD recorder. I have considered buying one so now I'm wondering. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  21. Fuckin A dude. You hit that right on the head. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  22. You are in charge of your life. You are in charge of your skydive. Don't let some impatient asshole make your skydive unsafe. If you want to spend a couple seconds of your life to check your spot, then do it. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  23. BY jumping your own pack job. Have somebody with some experience watch you pack. I'll never forget the exileration of my first pack job opening over my head. That gave me a new found confidence in myself. It seems that people that don't skydive are shocked when they ask if you pack your own chute and you you tell them yes. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  24. I have to agree wwith CHRISL. Don't spend the rest of your life getting stable. I was taught to pull my cut away and go directly for my reserve. I jump with an RSL and my intention is to beat it to pulling my reserve. That will probably never happen but I'm going to try. I at this time have never cut away (knock on wood) but one time I spent 2500 feet trying to get stable and scared the shit out of myself. I was still in the saddle at 1500 feet but should have never gone that low trying to get stable. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
  25. 90 miles, 160 miles, 220 miles depending on where I go. Unless I jump into my backyard, then it's 2 miles to the airport. Normally 160 miles though. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.
