  1. You might like to check out OASIS apartments. it 2 min walk from the DZ and I found them very good when I was there. although that was a long time ago.
  2. HI, for me there is a straight forward and easy answer that I teach my students and it is the following... IF they have DEPLOYED the Main Pilot chute, I always teach them to CUTAWAY and pull the reserve!!! in regards to pulling the Reserve only, I teach that if the Student is unable to deploy or pull the Pilot chute for what ever reason. Bare in Mind that this will be a high speed malfunction and you are running out of time very quickly. Delighted to see you looking into this and being curious about it. never stop asking Questions if you in any doubt about anything! one word of caution though, be aware of the things you see on YouTube or for that matter what you read on here. there can be a lot of different opinions on here which might confuse a jumper in the early stages like yourself! the best thing you can do as mentioned above, next time you are at your DZ go and find a Qualified Instructor to answer your question. In my opinion that is the best way, face to face and the instructor should be able to explain clearly as to what procedure to follow. it is important that you understand the answer you get so that it is 100% clear in your head and that you understand it. In the Meantime welcome to our Sport Blue Skies and safe Landings Rodger
  3. saw the below link on facebook and i am still laughing at it. ending is priceless. https://www.facebook.com/DizzyFilmsEnt2017/videos/1078549678921557/
  4. AUSTERITY The Billionaires in business over the world, is telling the millionaires in Politics that the rest of us are being Greedy!!!
  5. Yes the slider is huge, but i never saw and issue with a slow opening, we jumped our statics between 3200-3500 feet, and i installed a Student Cypres at the time. but always good to check with UPT. Irish
  6. HI Gowlerk, I did the same thing with an old Vector a few years back for a Student but I converted it to a Static line. the guy was about 6'7 just over 300 lbs. he was extremely well build and very fit. he used to run marathons for fun. his problem was the harness size, he would not fit into any student harness we had on the DZ. I had an old vector so I took of the Drogue and attached a Static line to the Deployment bag with a 6" Teflon coated Pin(as in Cutaway Cable) I also took out the secondary toggles of the main and put the extra steering line on the main toggles. since the guy was immensely strong he had no problem with that. the guy did about 8-10 jumps on it and had a great time with no problems. he then got a new Girlfriend and that was the last time I saw him Irish
  7. Yep I agree, I would pay a subscription fee to have it. it has helped me out on a couple occasions and found it extremely helpful. Irish
  8. Two factory workers are talking. The woman says, "I can make the boss give me the day off." The man replies, "And how would you do that?" The woman says, "Just wait and see." She then hangs upside-down from the ceiling. The boss comes in and says, "What are you doing?" The woman replies, "I'm a light bulb." The boss then says, "You've been working so much that you've gone crazy. I think you need to take the day off." The man starts to follow her and the boss says, "Where are you going?" The man says, "I'm going home, too. I can't work in the dark."
  9. A bakery owner hires a young female shop assistant who likes to wear very short skirts and thong panties. One day a young man enters the store. Noticing her short skirt and the location of the raisin bread, he has a brilliant idea. "I'd like some raisin bread please!", the man says. The shop assistant climbs up the ladder to reach the raisin bread located on the very top shelf. The man standing almost directly beneath her is provided with an excellent view, just as he thought. When she descends the ladder, he decides that he would really like two loaves. After she retrieves the second loaf of bread and descends the ladder, one of the other male customers notices what's going on and requests his own loaf of raisin bread. Atop the ladder one more time, she looks down and notices an elderly man standing amongst the crowd. Thinking that she can save herself another trip, she yells at the elderly man, "Is it raisin for you too?" "No," stammers the old man, "but it's quivering a little”.
  10. I always buy Tony Suits and that is where i got my wings Jacket from also.my wings start at my elbow and has a cord attached so i can tighten up the wing if i need to to get more drag. I NEVER wear the Wings Jacket on my Tandems, i just have a very big baggy Top. you could get a bigger wing that goes from the Wrist all the way down to your hip but i feel that is restricting me when i have to do AFF. i have attached a couple pics of my set up and as you can see it works very well for my fat 300 lbs Arse My wings do not go all the way down to my hips either and i have some RSL Shackles that i can attach to my hip rings or around the leg straps if i need to go really slow. after i open i reach down and release the schackles so i can reach the slider to collapse it. I have that Jacket now for almost 10 years and works for me brilliantly. i got Tony to put on extra material form the elbows to the wrist, see pic attached. you got to dress for success and this works for me. takes a bit of getting used to at the start but in no time you can fall as slow as you need to.
  11. I am 6'5 and 300 lbs and had some of the issue you have. a big baggy jump suit will help. but i found the most effective is a camera jacket with wings. i can clip the wings to the leg straps or to the hip rings and that gives me plenty range for the fall rate. i can do AFF with small light people and film any tandem's. of course i will always take the heaviest tandem pair or AFF student i can find to make it easier. how many jumps do you have? have you gotten proper coaching how to fall slow???
  12. I would disagree with you somewhat on your post. what has his previous convictions got to do with this incident??? that should never have come into play here and I blame the Media for blowing that out of all proportion. this incident did not happen because he had Previous convictions!!! if this guy was stopped before boarding the plane and told we are over booked, I would have no issue what so ever. the fact is he was issued a boarding pass and was seated on the plane! I too would be extremely pissed off about that and refuse to get off the plane, which to my knowledge and understanding goes against Company protocol and might have been illegal!?!? I haven't seen or heard of the full video being shown and do not know what happened before the video clip started. but In my opinion this was handled extremely poorly by the airline no matter what!! the Captain is in charge of the Aircraft? did he make any announcements or try to reason with the passenger/s?? that might have possibly diffused the situation.(not sure if that happened or not) the Chairman of United Airlines also screwed up with his statement in my opinion, they really need to learn how to control things much better. he should have gotten all the facts first before commenting. given this day and age everyone is on social media and staff should be correctly trained for situations like this. I agree with TK that there stocks will bounce back eventually but to have almost 750mill wiped out due to a ridiculous incident like this is well deserved in my opinion. they already have a very low customer satisfaction rating and seeing this will only make it worse. If and when I am in the States again I certainly will not be flying with them! and a few others will probably do the same. My 2c Irish
  13. Happy birthday Ryoder, have a good one!
  14. First of all Congrats on the 2 of yous in getting licensed there is a golden rule in Skydiving, dress for success so correct jumpsuits will definitely help. however good and proper flying skills is also very important as mentioned before the 2 of you should get some good coaching that will help to improve your flying skills and help to adjust fall weights. remember that the 2 of you are very new to the sport and it takes a bit of time and practise and good coaching to fine tune your skills. I presume yous went through AFF? well IMHO,on that course you are just thought basic survival skills for skydiving. it is afterwards that you learn to fine tune things and learn how to fly more effective. even though there is a 60 lbs weight difference I do not see a reason where the 2 of you can stay falling at the same level. we have a girl at out club with the same weight as you and I have to arch to stay with her, and I am 300 lbs!!! so it has to do with body proportion also. I also do AFF and have to wear a Baggy jumpsuit to slow down, with small light people I wear a Wings jacket to give me that extra comfort of being able to go slow. so do not be discouraged, it takes a bit of time and practise along with correct jumpsuits to sort this out. Happy jumping and Blue Skies Rodger
  15. you will get a few Choices on here. Bottom Line is any canopy can open hard and Smack you. I would suggest what ever canopy you choose make extra sure you position slider correctly and have a good secure Line stowage with good Bungees. that will reduce the risk even further. my Personal Choice would be a Spectre from PD
  16. I was pulled over by the cops, the policeman came up to the window and said "papers" I said Scissors, I win and drove off!!! the fucker must want a rematch as he has been chasing me for the last 60 min
  17. Don't Believe everything you find on the internet as everyone will have a different opinion. it is like asking what car do they like Best? the Wings container is a good+decent Rig and popular these days. as the previous poster said, do not overstuff the reserve on them. I found the Customer Service Very Good in the past, especially when Rick Moetle was there but had little or no dealing with them in a couple years. By the way what size Wings are you looking to get for that second Rig?
  18. A very Sad day for the Irish coast Guards. the Rescue116 Helicopter crashed yesterday morning about 5-6 miles off shore while assisting another Rescue helicopter. the Female Captain was found alive at first light but unfortunately passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. her other 3 crew members are still missing. all Coast Guards all over the World do a fantastic Job saving Thousands of lives. it really hits home when it happens to them. I hope that the other 3 can be found and recovered very soon. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/mystery-surrounds-crash-at-sea-as-coast-guard-helicopter-tragedy-unlikely-to-have-been-caused-by-mechanical-fault-35532680.html
  19. One For you Jerry. Friends are like Knickers, some snap under pressure some get a little twisted some you can see right through them some are cheap some are your favourites but the best ones cover your arse when you need them!!
  20. A Pilot has just landed at an airport with his B777 when he sees a small tiny self build plane waiting at the edge of the runway for take off and passes a comment over the Air to ATC what a cute little plane it is but should it really be at a Big Airport like this?. The Pilot of that Small cute Plane is a Female and immediately replies, another landing like that i will have enough Spare Parts to built another Small cute plane!!
  21. An ATC Controller contacts a B777 that is flying over the States and asked the Pilot to turn 20 Deg to the right to a new course of 290 due to noise pollution the Captain of the Plane was a bit baffled by this and replies, Sir we are 38000 feet and that is taking us a bit of course and we are behind schedule already and i do not believe that there will be a problem with noise pollution up here! the ATC controller replies, Captain have you ever heard the noise when 2 B777 collides in Mid air at 38000 feet?
  22. is this serious or a wind up?? if you felt something POP and are in Pain, stop moving your head and call for Help. keep as still as possible and wait for help to arrive. it is better to be safe than sorry with something like this. it is amazing sometimes what can happen to a human body Good luck and I hope its nothing serious
  23. I have 6-7 rides on a Tempo reserve and i found them excellent. i had a wing loading of 1.7+1.8 and i got a stand up every time. never heard of a tempo blowing up. we still have 3 of them on our Pilot emergency rigs.
