  1. hey mish, i give you my 2 cents worth aswell.i recently bought a velocity 120 and i have a wingloading of 2.5 on it.i have done approx 300 jumps on it now and i got to say what an awesome canopy!! i really love it.i am an aff instructor, which means i am normally out last of the plane with deep spots.i have no problem getting back from long spots.i tuck up my knees and a little back riser and i glide back with ease.never put me of a dz yet.although i did get my teeth fillings shaken loose once with a very hard opening, dont know what happend there as i packed it myself.i also use the velo for camera jumps and every one of my opening, with the one exception, was beautiful, soft and on heading!!! i had the oppertunity to jump a VX last year in new zealand.i did 3 jumps on it and handed it back.couple where positive openings to say the least, the other was a line twist.(i did manage to get out of them after a struggle) so my advice i would stick with the PD Velocity,i find it a much superior canopy and better all around!! i also have repacked a few reserves here that have the same problem as you with cutaways.it might be worth getting your line trim checked out again!maybe there is an issue with that.normally a canopy should fly a lot better and smoother after a re-line!!! might be no harm to get that checked out again by a rigger rodger
  2. a couple brought in a rig for a repack and i asked them to put on the rig and practise there emergency procedures. well lets just say there was a very nasty surprise inside. it is unclear who did the retacking but the last person to repack the reserve was a rigger in the UK.i would like to find out what other riggers would do with this and would they report it? i managed to test pull the pilotchute to 75lbs only and the bridle or tack cord did not give way.what would be the chances of the bridle itself, pulling the freebag out??? i know i sure as hell would not like to bet on those odds.also i have my doubts if the reserve container was closed while this was done.i tried to do the retacking with container closed but was unable to get the tack cord nice and neat around the reserve housing,so i am thinking that the last flap was open!?!? and its a javelin rig all comments welcome cherrio irish rigger
  3. i just returned from living in NZ,i worked in christchurch and in taupo.i would sell the gear also and pick up gear if your travelling through the states.that would be the best option.you can pick up good gear on this website too. also there is no great market for second had equipment.there is very little funj umping going on in NZ.only a couple of dz do it.most are tandem factory's.also its quiet expensive to buy gear in NZ,due to the cost of shipping getting it there.you might get lucky but much better bet is pick up a set of gear before heading out there. cherrio and enjoy NZ,its a brilliant place. irish rigger
  4. hi, its fairly easy to change that.you can get a replacement very cheap from RWSabout $20 i believe.they are also easy enough to make up yourself.just copy the old one and use the same markings as on the old one on where to attacj the bungy cord.also it will be a big help if you have a spare reserve handle with an "EYE" on it to thread it through the housing,if you have a look at the manual, there is a pic on.the hardest part will be to open the knot that is below the golfball.but not really a big issue
  5. all i can say is make sure the slider is seated all the way up,u have good secure line stowage.allso check your pilotchute and kill-line,i came across that a few times. rodger
  6. thank you for the response,i try the new leads yous gave.much appreciated. blue and safe skies
  7. hi, can anyone tell me who where i can get a line set for a COE-D main canopy? i tried several options, all of them fruitless. I thought they were manfactured by PISA,on the canopy itself it sayed it was build by PD.i contacted them and no luck at all, they said they were just building them for parachute australia? contacted them they never heard of it!!! so if someone can enlighten me it be appreciated thanks
  8. but just to note, the reponse from wings was first class.they send a replacement handles and i had them within 3 days.also spoke to the company themselves and ther customer service is excellent!! one of the best ones around. i am not rting to knock them, was just curious if i was the only one finding a couple of issues with the rigs here
  9. sorry, for not giving more info.i came across 3 rigs that had wrong lenght of reserve cable in them.one was 4 inch to long, the other 2inches to short.yes they were all origonal components from wings. as to the reserve pin getting bend out of shape i am completly baffeld by this.the pin was seated and sitting correctly yet it managed to bend like that,i will try to upload a pic of it now.
