I was walking back to the house after a party at 99' Sundance Film Festival when Michael Stipe from R.E.M steps out of the shadows and says hi. We talked for a bit and he asked if I was going to see the next film playing at the Egyptian Theater (we were standing in front of it). I had an early morning the next day working at the festival so I had to take off. He was really cool and laid back. John Larroquette would come into the Starbucks I worked at in Boise every now and then. I also met one of the founders of the MS 18 gang while in El Salvador at a church. He's no longer gang bangin'. I think he was more infamous than famous. There are others but they were not to random. They were working on the same films as I was. something funny and unique

It is interesting how things have changed. My dad tells stories how most the guys brought their guns to school. At lunch time they would go out to the cars and talk guns, sometime they would take off and see if they could bag a deer or turkey during the lunch hour. (In proper hunting season of course) I grew up in the same little town in the 80's and 90s. Guys still had their rifles/hand guns in their trucks at school back then. I can't think of a single guy or girl that did not take hunter safety course or handled guns in Scouts or 4H. We all were educated about fire arms and had a healthy RESPECT for them. I do not know of a single fire arm accident in our town or area. Of course this is just my experience. something funny and unique

The governing state at the time was the Roman Empire. Jesus said things like this, pay your taxes, if a roman soldier tells you to carry his gear, carry it even further then law dictates. That is how he spoke about the government. In regards to the religious establishment, he spoke out against the emptiness of religion without Love. How it is better to help someone on the Sabbath rather than stick to a strict religious code or how it is better to be a Samaritan that is willing to help someone that has been attacked than a priest that would not help just to stay "clean". This is why I do not believe he had a focus on politics. He did not want to change the government. He wanted to change how people interacted with God and each other. something funny and unique

So last fall my four year old had a veggie stand to sale stuff from our garden. He sold out except about 20 little mini-pumpkins. Very strong cases have been made that it's ALL he cared about. That he was a radical against the state. I would like to see an example of these cases. From my reading I have found that Jesus was a radical against the religious folks and not really concerned about the affairs of the government. something funny and unique

I do not believe that Jesus was to concerned about politics. He did teach many times on how we should take care of the poor, widows and orphans. (This is really Christianity 101) These teachings were for the people NOT the government. This frustrated some of his followers. Peter The Zealot was more interested in over throwing the Romans while Jesus spoke about submitting to their commands and serving them even more. If we read his teachings as a whole we find he was concerned more with the condition of a persons heart rather than just doing good deeds. We should take care of the poor and share our resources out of the love flowing from ourselves, not by being forced by any government, church or any other organization. something funny and unique

My brother came upon a motorcycle crash in Colorado a few years ago. He said there was a crowd of folks around him but no one knew what to do. My wife and I have been talking about moving to the Republic of Texas for a couple of weeks now. I think we will be in Austin by September. Another good reason is that those crazy right wing states and their crazy conservative government have kept their unemployment rate well below lefty states. I used to work for a contract company in the Deschutes National Forest in Bend, Oregon. My first season there it took a forest service employee the entire summer to build an insulated pump house for a water system one of the lakes. He "worked" on it at least 4 days a week. The next season my boss and I built one just like it in a week. Granted we did have 2 guys working on it. It is amazing how much more efficient the private sector is! something funny and unique

Hey gang, Full time lurker sometimes poster, Marshall, here with a strange request. I am currently working on a documentary entitled, "It's Only a Game". I leave in two week for El Salvador to produce a documentary that is going to push us over the top. I should be jumping Spring 09!!!(and paying off student loans) I've been asked why I love the sport. I know why now. Its the people. Now I know there are ass hat skydivers like any other communities. But I have even seen the ass hats come together in times of need. I've seen paypal accounts open in a time of need on this site faster than a fat-man's mouth at a hot dog eating contest.
