  2. 15 DZs across 8 states in just under 10 years. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  3. I find a little prayer helps- "Dear God don't let me f**k this up, again" diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  4. my CRW team uses the SMH-10R. They work great as long as we stay in mostly range. Things cut in and out a bit about 3/4 of the stated distance. I know other teams that use the SMH-10 and the Scala Rider 9. Those have more range but have more snag potential. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  5. Then find another rigger. You are the customer. If one rigger can't take care of you because you chose to buy a certain container that's his choice. It's also your choice of who does your repacks. A few years ago I changed riggers. I was using a rigger for repacks on my Eclipse then I picked up a second rig- a Racer. He said he would not touch my Racer. I thanked him for his honesty and have been getting both my rigs repacked elsewhere since then. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  6. Being a CRW dawg I do all the things you listed to my own and other peoples' rigs/ mains. I was kind of surprised last summer when I was going to take someone that had 3 times my jump numbers on their first CRW jump and they had no idea how to hook up a main. Learn all you can about your gear. Next time you're at the DZ hold off on downing a bunch of beers (you'll retain info better if you have not been drinking) and ask the rigger or an experienced jumper to show you how to hook up a main. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  7. Aside from bells and whistles options all containers are pretty much the same in that- they hold your canopies until deployment. The differences come at the reserve part of the container. Examples: Racer- reserve PC pop top exposed (not covered by any flaps) and reserve pins against the jumpers back. Wings, Vortex, Glide, Triton, Javelin- reserve PC pop top partially exposed (under 2 flaps) and reserve pin on the back of the container. Vector, Icon, Infinity, Mirage- reserve PC pop top not exposed (underneath up to 6 flaps) and reserve pin on the back of the container. Personally that would be the first thing I would look at if I was shopping for a container. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  8. 1- because we can't build cool canopy formations inside the plane 2- because if I leave my wing hanging too long he'll kick my ass (it's a crw thing) diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  9. Don't forget that after burning a hole in the sky you have to fly and land your canopy, we all do. Canopy control and safe flying are as equally important as freefall. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  10. Flying skills and video skills are needed. And equally important is a customer focused positive attitude. For a large percentage of passengers this will be their only experience at your DZ, which they'll tell their friends about. Being able to give the customer a good experience from the first load to the last is key. Work on your interview skills also. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  11. Yeah Buddy, it's gonna be a good time. I'll be there the weekend before warming up with what ever locals I can find in case you'd like to come play then as well. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  12. Don't forget to stay hydrated and fed, it's easy to forget to drink and eat something through out the day while having fun. And while it's fun to share drinks and stories with your new friends, take it easy on the booze. Jumping hung over because you're at a boogie and want to make lots of jumps is unsafe for you and the others on the jump. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  13. I would argue that while speed flying is fun you are still close the ground. I've met more than a few people that have busted them selves up speed flying. I think CRW is a much safer way to learn canopy control, we do everything up high. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  14. Amen!! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  15. This thread title should be changed to- Wingsuiter flies through canopy traffic unnecessarily endangering everyone, pulls low and lands with line twist. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

    Name a beer

For your Double IPA- call it Double Diamond IPA on the lable have a depicition of two 4-way CRW diamonds over or in front of a mountain. It would have name relation to CRW and skiing. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  17. Thanks for the info. Camera is a Sony A6000 diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  18. I'm taking my DSLR to the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival next month and am wanting to get good photos of the night glow. Night glow is when the balloons are tethered after sunset and they fire off the propane in short bursts. It makes the balloons look like giant glowing lanterns. My camera came with a 16-55mm kit lens but I've been reading up on photographing fire and fireworks and think I'll need better/faster lens for the shots I'm after. One night I plan to use a tripod and the other I'm thinking hand held so I can get different perspectives. Thought I'd see if anyone on here has any lens suggestions and /or tips on shooting fire, since we spend time around the bonfires. Thanks diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  19. Why not wait 2 more short years and go when you're 18. That way, in case you fall in love with the sport, you'll be old enough to get licensed and jump all you want on your own. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  20. If the experienced dawgs are cool with it, have fun and be safe. The issue with 9 cells is that they most likely have micro lines which can cut someone up in an entanglement. And that their closing speed is faster than a 7 cell. CRW can be done on pretty much any canopy as long as the canopy's characteristics are accounted for and things are kept centered and slow and gentle if needed. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  21. When I fly Southwest I rarely sit past the 10th row because strangers don't sit next to each other and the middle seat is always open. If you don't mind the middle seat it's a way to get off the plane quicker. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  22. If I can't unstow and flare that means I can't fly and avoid obstacles either. So I'm going with a very light WL 1.1 or less. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  23. Where in Europe? I know Pasi Pirttikoski is in Finland. He knows a lot of CRW dawgs around the world. There is also a CRW dawgs group on FB that has many international members. You could try posting a message there. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  24. Stick around in the evening and ask people about their gear, how their jumps went, crazy past jump stories ect. Jumpers love to talk about jumping. Just keep the conversation about jumping, if they veer into drama topics just kindly excuse yourself. Eventually you'll know who you get along with and who you'll enjoy jumping with. And who the negative nancys are and can give them their space. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
