  2. i know that a cypress life span is only 12 years. but once that 12 years is up, are they still usable. As a skydiver who has recently aquired his A license and purchased his first rig (obviously w/out aad), i am not positive on this answer. please elaborate........... 3. i have a question.......what does ATC and FAR stand for and where can they be located. i was under the impression if the jump was legit and legal and off of a designated DZ, then you had to have a DEMO rating? if i am wrong please elaborate..... because, if all you have to do is notify some people, cant anyone, like myself with an A license , jump into a party or family event? -jake Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

  6. Is there any skydivers who attend Florida Gulf Coast University on here? If you are not a student yourself do you know of anybody who is? Florida Gulf Coast University is in Ft. Myers, FL right down the HWY from Skydive SW Florida. I am in the process of founding a club and possibly a collegiate team if there are active skydivers at FGCU. So if you have any info, please post or pm me. thanks jake Step into my (sub)terminal Playground
  7. dont buy any gear. like others have said you will downsize a bit in your first 30 jumps or so. i went from my first jump flying a 240, to a 230, then to a 220, and ive been jumping a 190, soon to go to a 170. 1-9 is just a little bit of an older accelerated freefall course from what i have heard. some dropzones still use it. i myself progressed through the integrated student program (isp). i did my ground school on a wednesday when the dz was closed, then i did my first 6 jumps on that thursday. i graduated AFF by the first load of Friday. It all matters on how much you can learn in ground school and apply it in the air. thats all the answers i can supply. try emailing one of the dropzones, they might know of some cheap lodging available.
  8. i am not sure of his last name. but it was in zephyrhills, fl. motorcycle accident. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground
  9. and there is no discrimination, ive seen small girls fly faster than bigger guys and vice versa. position, weight, and clothing are some factors that effect this. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

  16. some cypress can be easily switched from a 2 pin to a 1 pin by your rigger. if you are looking at used. but if you want a new aad, just get the 1pin. i am not sure but i believe it the cypress 2 that can be switched. visit the Airtec GmbH website to find out for sure. 20. i was in the same boat bro. i started aff on may 18, didnt jump the 19th. and i finished on the 20th. i have been up every weekend since then. and i have 28 jumps now. i received my A earlier this weekend. just make sure you have money to jump. it is addicting, that is what keeps you coming back. welcome to the hospital, we all have the fever. oh yeah, and there is no cure. 23. Hey everyone, I just recently received my A license, and I have been looking for gear, used and new. I was just wondering what you all did to purchase that first rig. If I go used, the rig I am looking at is about $2000. cant go wrong there. And a new rig, well you know the price for those. But, did you guys save up, or use another financial option (like a loan.) I spoke with a jumper at my dz, and he said he took out a student loan to buy his first rig, which was a brand new javelin system. this isnt a bad option, seeing i can pay the payments of a loan for that much. plus, i am a college student. so i do have a job, but i do not have the income of a person with a full time career. blue skies, jake Step into my (sub)terminal Playground
